- There are a ton of ideas about what the ideal team size is for one engineering manager. How much is too much? When does a manager stop being just a team lead? When is it time to split a team?
Of course, the perfect team size depends on many things: the manager’s experience level, what the company expects, the maturity of the team members, deadlines, and so on. But remember, your team needs a leader, not a shepherd herding sheep. You’re guiding a team of skilled professionals, not wrangling a flock!

Awesome, Keep going, man!
Thanks! It was interesting. I didn't know about the pizza rule 😄
Keep going!
I agree that splitting the team when it exceeds 8 members is a good idea. However, I don't believe it's necessary to introduce a team lead role for each new team, especially if both teams will still report to the same EM. As an EM, you can focus on fostering self-organization (or self-management, if you prefer) within these teams. Over time, natural leaders will emerge from within the group without the need for formal titles. The key is to empower team members to take ownership of their decision-making processes
thanks. it was interesting. See you next time
