There is no way that a probable bloody prom dress was weighed down with an anchor into a river for completely innocent reasons.
Some sort of murder DEFINITELY happened, whether they dumped the body with the anchor on it or they just dumped the evidence (the dress and the murder weapon(s)) some poor girl was murdered.
You should have brought up the anchor too just in case. Because if it was part of a crime, the anchor might be able to tie it back to someone involved.

And the vacuum cleaner, I wouldn't be surprised if something dodgy was going on that the vacuum was also connected. Quite a few bad guys have been caught because they knew to vacuum up any trace evidence like fibres but then kept the vacuum.

Wow! Amazing finds! I would have brought up the anchor with the dress and taken it straight to a big police station to have it all checked out. Hope it’s not what it looks like, but if it is, it would be very interesting to find out the “who what where when and why” of. It would be great to help solve an unsolved cold case.
Yeah this was my first attempt at solving something but I failed. I don't think it was linked to a crime though. Maybe just an angry girl.
What if this is tied to the bridesmaid that disappeared years ago? I watched as a diving team searched but found nothing in that case. Just a thought.

Wow, a bloody dress with a weight on it. 😬 That could've come from three counties away or even three states away. I hope they can get some clues as to how long it was down there. Along with two guns and that wicked looking saw knife w/ sheath... Crazy finds. We patiently await any possible updates.

You should be able to check with the manufacturer to see when the dress was sold and to what stores. Once you have that you might be able to narrow down the owner and date. Good luck!
No way. Dresses are sold all over the country. . . HAHAHAHA. Cigarette packaging is something you can use to pinpoint what plant they were manufactured in, what location they were sold at, etc. Not dresses.

Seems to me, theres only one reason to throw a gun into a body of water. You want to make certain that weapon isnt found or used again.

The lever action rifle is more than likely a Marlin model 336. They were made in several different calibers. The most common was .30/30 Winchester or .35 Remington. The 336 is one of the most popular Marlin rifles ever made so there are thousands of them on the streets.

Interesting fact: The Granddaughter I do believe and heir to the Winchester estate is one of the most intriguing mansion with doors leading nowhere, steps leading into walls, false walls, hidden rooms, and one of the most haunted place in the world that to confuse the spirits that plagued her constant construction was done on the house leading to all the crazy steps, stairs, etc until the day she passed away. I know I'm late, but blood does not come out of fabric. If you try washing it, there might be blood left, but mud could too.
There's a lady missing with a bridesmaid dress, for something like thirty years. I'll try to find it. I believe she disappeared in a range Rover or a ranger. Marty Evans, Astoria Oregon? I can't see if the dress matches, the piece you have could of been under a top, I don't know, tell police or check with Adventures With Purpose because they have been sonaring and diving the places where she may have driven in to the water, no it's an old pick up truck also. I don't see blood stains. I see a rust spot on the front. The " boob cushion " stain looks like mud. I'm not an expert so it should still be checked out because it's still very suspicious. Maybe the person was assaulted and the dress had evidence from the assailant (s) on it.

Would it be worth doing a "reconstruction" of the dress and putting someone in it, taking photos and releasing to local area to ask if anyone recognises the dress?
I don't know if they could extract DNA after being under water like that. I bet that an ad in the local papers or news station telling the story and showing to get dress would help. Whoever she was, she has family and friends out there that know that this was the last thing she wore and will definitely recognize the dress.
You always have so much fun. Sure, wish Brit had joined in the dive. He always finds amazing things. The prom dress is heart wrenching. Weighed down and one of the pads were missing is troublesome. It did look like blood. If there was a wire in it, that would have given it the same effect. I sure hope it wasn't. Good job as always. Love you guys.
I looked some stuff up and the only prom related incident I could find was a girl in Calhoun was assaulted after prom in 2014?
I'd go get that anchor back. Sometimes they're imprinted with a serial number and can be traced. Saw that on an old episode of forensic files if memory serves.

I love how everybody gets SO UPSET about this! I guess none of these people realize that blood on submerged clothing is destroyed within a couple of months. You can see it but there's no way to extract a DNA profile after that amount of time. I've read several papers about it and a new one just came out in a Canadian journal last month.

It definitely could have been a bridesmaid dress. And that makes me think about a missing persons case from another channel I watch called Adventures with a purpose was trying to solve this case from the 90's where a bridesmaid went missing, last seen wearing her bridesmaid dress! I can't remember exactly where this girl went missing from though!

The 22 is a marlin model 60. The lever action could be several different calibers and models.
The lever is most likely a Marlin 336 in 30-30 or 35 rem. or 444 Marlin cal. A couple of other caliber options.
That looks less like blood and more like dye off the dress. The fabric is in pretty good shape. FYI, the beading is probably attached with monofilament which is a plastic, not regular thread.. It's 'clear' so is often used for beading. BUT the rest of it is a thread, also probably some synthetic, but it does break down. It doesn't look like something from too far in the past. Nothing distinctive that says "whoa, that's all sorts of 1974" or some such.
You MIGHT be able to take a Q-Tip and rub it on the stain with some regular water and then dip that Q-tip in some hydrogen peroxide. It would be a VERY crude test, but if it bubbles, it is probably something organic. If it doesn't... well, it doesn't mean anything because it could still be blood, but too degraded to react.
Yes you can black light to see blood traces. But being that it was under water, in mudd, for a unknown amount of time, black lighting may not be sufficient/efficient

Buy luminal, if you spray the dress there should be a reaction. If there is there's blood on it, if not there isn’t blood.
It was soaked in iron rich mud. Luminol made the whole dress glow.
I'm not sure if they do this in America, but I know that here is Australia they usually have photos in the newspapers of all the graduates (generally from every school as well). If they do, I wonder if you could look through the photos and see if there were any dresses that look similar from the few years before the dress was found. Just a thought anyway...
Dried blood, you need t call the law and get the anchor with it.

When you restore things or just clean them let them soak in vinegar. It will clean of the rust and any dirt that is not part of the item. I use it to clean fossils

@@exploringwithnug a great place to take the kids and it is free is in New Rockford Iowa there is an old brick quarry that you can explore and find Dovian period seashells and once in a while a shark tooth. It is a little hard to climb so of the hills because it's lose dirt and gravel also steep. But no tools are required to find fossils

With 2 rifles and a weighted down prom dress I would get police involved. You never know what cases they’re working and a lot of what they know isn’t revealed to the public. This may solve a case or be nothing but aren’t you curious?!! Love your channel and I watch more magnet fishing and metal detecting on my tablet and next spring hopefully I can get Lessons and also ideas of what I could get to get into all of this. My house was built late 60’s by my father in law. This previously was a farming large chunk of land with empty fields. Lots to explore in Massachusetts!!
I did talk to the cops. There wasn’t any open crimes or missing persons related to a prom so they wasn’t interested

find blood tracks for
deer hunting maybe they still
sell the lights are red & blue
when tracking blood hold 8 inches
in the search path blood is bright red
in color.

I ran into a wall. Never could figure out anything else that was linked to the dress. Probably just a throw away
METAL DETECTOR SIGNAL IS LOUD AND CLEAR-CAN YOU HEAR IT?
Spray a bit of hydrogen peroxide on the dress pad and if it bubbles, use a Q-tip to gather the foam and put it in a plastic baggie and take the dress along with the bagged Q-tip to the police 😉

Everyone thinks the bigger the better but that also means it’s heavier. I’d go with some between 500-1000lb pull strength. Get a double sided one. Less chances of getting snagged

I used to go diving when I was in my twenties . AND potholing, which you had to go diving in some of the pot holes but I loved diving in the rivers every chance I got I would be there.ivennot been diving for years . would love to go again someday 👍🙌🇬🇧
