@@TESkyrimizer I dunno - depends on your tactics. If you're gonna stay alone, it can be really difficult since a stun can ruin your day. Even if not, you can just get routed if you get surrounded because of repeated morale checks. If you do get brothers to help, it does get easier, but then you'll encounter massive issues in the late game cuz of no reserves.
The new company origin technically predates the Hoggart the weasel start. New Company existed in Early Access briefly before the Hoggart start was introduced (still in Early Access).
Your character doesn't need to be paid. I've played it in such a way that I learned which fights I can win and can't. Avoid hexen. Use traits that improve movement so you can use your power attacks more readily. Also use traits that protect your head and reduce stunning. It's pretty fun. I have done two run throughs where I took my character to level 11 before acquiring fellow Brothers. This allowed me to equip them at the time that I recruited them. Also I only concentrated on bastards, hedge knights and Veterans. It was really more of an experimental run. I haven't gotten late game with it but at this point they are pretty lethal with everybody using zweihanders. I find the poachers build to be The most powerful build available.
Peasant Militia is quite op imo. I think the point of peasant militia was that you can only have weak to average units that rely on numbers. The problem is there are brawlers, militiamen, and even fishermen who can be strong in the late game. An idea I had is to make a challenge run where the militia frontlines uses hammers and cleavers and all have quick hands. No 2 handers and no duelists. They have to rely on each other and most brother will ofc be disposable.
@@tite93 I've already tried it. Yeah, I noticed the different scaling when I first tried it. Now I don't think it's op, it's just a different start which failed to serve its purpose. Iirc my run with militia, I had a brawler which had 138 raw fatigue, 93 ma and 27 md which is quite strong. A farmhand with 87 ma and outrageous hp and iron lung. I like the roleplay, but the origin fails to make you rely on numbers because early game, hiring a lot of brothers is dangerous because of the scaling. Then late game cheap but strong brothers fill your ranks and the the number of orcs doesnt matter anymore. Orc champions break morale so quick that their numbers seem more disadvantageous to them. Undead are easy. Humans are easier. Kind of wish they made a late game stage like the conquest mod.
I liked the beast slayer start because of their equipment level. Only the deserters is better and beast slayers do without their resolve penalties. They start with a spetum and net, getting another polearm like a pike or billhook means they can crush early raider bands for armour upgrades. With the extra poison and pelt drops, it's not hard to reach footman tier defence (basic mail+direwolf attach) within the first 7 days and just dominate the early to mid game. IMO, fastest developing start of all the company beginning.
Peasant militia is great but it only lets you recruit peasants. This unfortunately excludes you from a plethora of events based on character backgrounds and the missing flavor text really takes away personality from your campaign when all 25 of your lategame bros is either a farmer, lumberjack, militiaman, thief, or poacher. Definitely makes the backstabber perk quintessential due to superior numbers.
According to this developer post steamcommunity.com/app/365360/discussions/0/1741090847749934932 Time and distance is the only scaling factor for non-contract locations. Renown seems to only effect payment of contracts and doesn't effect difficulty anywhere. This would seem to make the trading caravan ironically better for focusing on non-contract camps, the opposite of what you say. Considering the developer post would you agree?
I assume the random start mean one of the other starts chosen at random, or is ist a start on its own where things like number of brothers, backgrounds, quality of gear etc. are randomized?
Lone wolf does not currently require you to pay your player character.
This should be annotated
Also his armor is even better - 260 280 in my esperience.
Can confirm you don't have to pay for your lone wolf character. He starts with 260 body armor, 210 helmet, and a longsword
Lone wolf is easier than any other start in the early game.

This game is just so excellently made. Really looking forward to watching you play more of it.

It also adds scaling up to 15 brothers, so you'll get much larger orc tents and other camps. Could be good, needs some testing

Thanks for this, looks like it might be time to give Brothers a go again for me.
Well, you do not have to pay your Hedge knight in the Lone Wolf start, scince he is basically you XD also if he dies, it is instant game over
good rundown filthy

Really looking forward to your Northern Raider playthrough, once you get to that. Personally my favorite start.
Excellent video,as usual!
The changed lone wolf your main doesnt get paid so it makes it easier to level to 11, cause your money doesnt go down. Start getting chars after that.
Would love to see a northern raider playthrough from you on here. You're my favorite BB lets player :)

Great game! Simply Amazing!
Would love to see a lone wolf run
I am trying to watch the video on BART Train in SF and I can’t hear man!
Please consider raising the volume by a little bit..Thanks

One of the starts will be chosen at random.
i see you have season 9 and 10 builds but i haven't seen any videos, are they not on TH-cam or are they just ideas for when you do play again?
He only puts battle brothers on twitch vods now too much uploading to youtube I guess.
@@rangagump5591 ok thanks a lot
He is looking for a community manager who would take on TH-cam duties though. We might be getting more seasons once it happens.
Who is the streamer he mentioned when lone wolf? Anyone catch that name?
Arvius
is the dlc already here?
DLC was released on May 9th so yes!
