Ok, newb here, just installed my first conversion, Shwinn Cornado,48v, front hub, waiting on battery, 48v 20 ah. I intend to use it as a travel bike for my trailer, replacing small motorcycle. I find this all fascinating, after some experience would like to try battery assembly. I know that I shall make some mistakes along the way, but grateful for all the info you and other TH-camrs provide. I wouldn't have gone this route without this support, thanks. 68, never to late.

Hi, have been through all your videos and have found more information on building lithium bike batteries safely than any other channel, busy charging and testing batteries at the moment for my next bike, the first one was cremated in my garage fire, also have your book on building bike batteries, well laid out and explained in terms anyone can understand, will be doing a video of the build up, regards Doc Cox.

I'd love to see that video. And sorry to hear about your garage. That's my nightmare. Literally. I had a nightmare a couple weeks ago that I shorted a battery I was working on and it caught on fire...

Sorry to hear that, hope you are OK. A lot of people don,t realise how much even a single Lithium cell can hold let alone a full battery pack, safety can,t be emphasized enough when doing these projects so keep up the good work, will see if I can find the photo,s of the first bike build and send them to you, the motor was a Stannah stairlift motor !!

Great videos mate, you have an easy to understand style.
I have a question for you regarding the rear hub motor on my bike (1000w) the rear brake has failed so rather than replacing it I'd like to install a regeneration system. How easy is this to do? Will it provide enough stopping power? I do most of my braking with the front brake anyway.
    Many thanks, Martin.

This is great! Micah you read my mind with your video I just upgraded my 750w and purchased a 3500w Hi-Power brand rear wheel and controller "Aaahhhhhhh the Powwwer @Bruno lol" that I believe can go from 36v 48v and 72v options i just need to pick a battery I want to go a little more for distance rather than speed so I think the 48v battery you showed might be just the ticket thanks again for the help.

thanks. that answered a lingueimg question I had about amps. each parallel group is responsible for the amount of total amps. so with my vruzend kit to pull the 32 amps from my controller, I should have about 9 cells in parallel to put the amp output in the ideal range for the cell holders. ok, I need to add 2 more to each row. That probably saved some troubleshooting. thanks!

I use the throttle all the time a lot at full power and my watt meter shows peaks of 25 amps and then drops off even though I'm still at full throttle I'm guessing this is due to my controller as my battery is rated at peak 30 amps , Am I killing my 36v 15ah battery it never gets hot neither does my motor but I'd like them to last also I'm thinking of getting a 30amp controller to give more torque for hills is this a bad idea as I use full throttle a lot.

We are looking to push the limits of performance and looking at the different battery sizes 18560 seems to be the standard but I’m finding high performance and capacity 21700 and the slightly bigger 26650 signal cells have really peaked our interest and would like to know if you have tried these and how you found them if you have. On a personal note I love your 2wd ebike as mine is aswel

Hi! Would you be so kind to provide some insights on how to hook up a 18650 DIY battery into a so called "silver fish" case? These cases seem widely used here in Italy but there is so little info on them. Are cases all compatible with each other (they seem to have the same specs)? How many cells fit into a case? How to connect the on/off key? How to connect the charge meter? Do I need a special bms with on/off feature? Thanks. Cheers. Gio

So even if the battery can put out more amps and the motor can draw more amps, the bms limits the current? The c rating for these batteries does not matter as long as they are above specs of the bms?

Good info thanks! How do you know that your getting batteries with a good lifespan? I've bought cheaper 18650 cells before that have been great and still work pretty well... I have others that started out fine with good output and capacity but that quickly dropped off after just a few charge cycles! Also, do you think LiFE batteries are a smart choice?
