- This film by FAU Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute (www.fau.edu/hboi) tells the life story of the Queen Conch (Lobatus gigas, formerly genus Strombus). It shows rarely seen footage of larval and juvenile life stages of this commercially important marine snail in The Bahamas and Western Atlantic region. An excellent educational resource!
i love the baby stages, you can see that their shell starts out from one teeny miniscule point and spirals out. so cool
There are fascinating creatures
So true

This was a rather interesting video. I learned quite a lot about the queen conch's development. They're also a tasty delicacy in The Bahamas. Thank you!
Thank you for this documentary. I live in Bermuda. It is protected here.
Great video, this was exactly what I was looking for.
Yeah I’m wondering what they are to
I came here to learn a bout conch but the whole thing unfolded like a horror story.
All I learned is that they are literally defenceless against humans :(
If you just came here for the title, start at 3:14. The Conch's Life Story is only about one third of this video.

Never had conch. Beautiful shells!
Breathtaking
I live in the Missouri Ozarks and found a freshwater conch shell off the 11-point river in a dry bed I'm interested in raising these but I cannot find any information that they still exist or where to find more of them? I would like to raise mud crabs crawdads and catfish with wild rice. Any information will be appreciated.
Thank u so much for the video ............

I just found a big conch stranded in the mexican caribbean and was curious about how theyre made, I didnt know they could be eaten, makes me sad that they say It could be eaten in mass production, the human is just unstoppable, when the world gonna end?

when we eat everything... that's when we'll stop....
that's what you call a way of life
earth sure is overpopulated huh...
Are you a bimbo or what. The world should end because humans eat? Do you realize everything eats? And if your a vegan by any chance plants are alive to. And do you realize how many animals are killed to protect those crops so vegans can have their presence plants? Grow up lady

Wow.
how do they grow their shell? is it like how our nails grow? or is it different coz they just form from the tip of their shell which is the opening place where they protrude from?
NaaffaX they're snails, so I think it's like how they are
its like an exoskeleton

I know it's 5 years old but they take calcium from the water column and it grows. It's like how your skeleton grows. It needs calcium
