@@cmcarolmat You didn’t read the fine prints. Cancellations may be free up until the stated date, however, some properties may indicate that pre-payment will be charged at anytime. Ofcourse, this would be a hold which is refunded upon cancellation.
There are no rules to it. Do what a natural person would do. E.g how long would they stay at the hotel? What is the cost? Do they have sufficient funds to show they can afford it? What is the plan thereafter? Also consider other short rental options.
I am really confused with regards to the flight reservation. Most of the airlines require me to oay for the bookings. But i dint want to because i still dont oniw if i would be given the visa or not. What do i do?

You should always read the fine prints. Some options include upfront payments.
If they won’t charge your card, it would be clearly stated.

Get a travel agent with access to a ticketing platform to do it for you. If you have one you’ve patronized over time, they’ll do it for free.
