What is the different in " stand your ground " & self defense. They same the same. If someone is smashing ur head on the concrete & u have a gun I'd think ur instinct is to shoot. Also though if Zimmerman didnt follow him nobody would be dead. I guess it matters which of those 2 matters more. This kid died b/c of Zimmerman so if they d.a didnt go for murder instead of manslaughter he would have been convicted. I think in these cases the jury gets stuck b/c of the wrong charges.
i think "self defense" is defending yourself as you're being physically attacked. "Stand your ground" gives cover to someone who feels physically threatened by verbal harrasment or fear of physical assault by a group of people. There was a case recently in South Carolina i believe where a black man was in a bar/club and was being threatened by a group of white guys. Black guy left and while walking to his car in the parking lot, the group of white guys followed him out and were taunting and threatening him. He pulled a gun out of his car and shot at them, injuring and killing some on the group. He was charged, but acquitted under the "Stand your Ground" law by the jury
