This could make a great villain origin. after years of the constant booing, he snaps. "You all seem to want to hate me. Nothing I do ca make you happy. So if you want me to be the villain..." immediately Bane style breaks the back of his opponent. he crouches low, near the face of the opponent writhing in agony. "I'll be the villain." A whole bunch of fellow 'good guy' wrestlers come in to try to stop him, but now that Roman Reigns, who could effortlessly fight off any opponent, is fighting dirty, none of them stand a chance. soon it turns into an all out brawl, with heels and faces alike in a massive free for all, and in the center of it all, Roman. Stretch it out to a storyline, splice some scenes of him taking out opponent after opponent with fight of a few faces fighting to convince ech other to work together to take him down, then have a classic boss battle where the gathered faces bring him down n a feat of heroism. Then you could have a redemption arc where he becomes one of those people who win fights by not fighting back, put in something about becoming man of peace or something. I don't watch wrestling, so I have no idea whether that would work out.
This is literally the story of The Rock, Roman Reigns’ actual cousin, which is why they probably don’t want to push that story again. That’s also not mentioning how Reigns is hated because he has terrible mic skills, and isn’t the most technically adept either, while Rock was hated because he had a stupid gimmick. Reigns is better as a background actor than a leading star. Literally 80% of the other wrestlers are better with their mic skills, or have a better gimmick or are more technical.
@@ShamrockShows Ehhh I'd say with The Rock is was more of a love/hate relationship. People loved to hate him instead of just simply hating him lol. I mean, after all he seems to be pretty well liked nowadays.
I feel bad for this guy. Like he probably worked super hard and was super excited to get a role in WWE, and then the crowd hates him because the company doesn't know how to manage his image. Its really just sad.
They shouldn't be managing it at all. We've seen for the last half decade that wwe creative is full of the most garbage writers ever. Jericho talked recently on a podcast about how Reigns is actually a pretty cool guy and that if they just let him be who he actually is, he'd probably be more likeable. I can honestly believe that. He looks cool, he has the physique all he needs is the character. If they would just let him do it himself like the rock and Stone Cold, he might actually make something exciting and then he could both enjoy his job and actually be interesting.
It's not that sad, he has reached the top level possible in his profession, likely on one of the best wages and clearly well liked by at least his employers.
Well his leukemia came back after 11 years in remission. He's since been very well recieved since returning. It's a fucking shame that that's what it took though.
@@Burnthealphabetpeople Fans are supposed to boo Heels, not Faces. If he were a heel, you'd be right, but he isn't. But people hate the character (and not really even that, they hate what the character represents, which is pushing who management decides to push and not caring about who the fans want to see), not the man himself.
You gotta understand.. We don't hate the man. We hate the gimmick. He is a hell of a cool guy behind the scenes and we wonder why can't we see that same person on RAW?? Edit: And I just found out he has cancer. What the hell? Hope he comes out fighting AND winning.
Can you imagine if that's another gimmick? Like, "they hate him even when he's a helping a child with cancer, what do we do now???" "Give him cancer ._. No one can hate on a cancer patient". Seriously tho, if he does have cancer irl, i hope he kicks the shit of out it.
Backup Tripod that could work I hate him...but if they changed him I’d like him ...ie...new ring gear new music new move set never ever ever see the spear or Superman punch again!
@@lukehope4484 we dont say he never had it...cuz he did have leukemia...its just his recent flare up that was a work...he was actually leaving to do a movie and refused to do the show in Saudi Arabia so they had him drop the belt and leave early
It’s ok now, they made him a heel and fixed his character. He’s now probably the most beloved guy on the active roster, at least by the internet wrestling community
Team 974 being menacing doesn’t make you a heel, a heel is a dirty fighter who is desperate so they do low blows and tell the fans they don’t mean anything to them
Another reason he's hated is his stale and unchanging character. Since his SHIELD days, what's different about his character? Nothing. Not even ring attire and entrance music! It reeks of desperation to get people to like him solely because, "He was with the SHIELD, guys! He's cool, right?" Compare him to Seth or Dean who are significantly different characters to who they were after the SHIELD disbanded.
He got no special moves, he got no charisma, he got no cool backstory and he got no flashy fighting style - I don't get why they'd promote him so much, but I guess connections are bigger than skill.
Watching this after finding out about his Leukaemia makes it much harder. We may have taken the piss out of him from time to time, but to find out about what he’s been through while remaining a top flight athlete shows he’s a true professional. Get well soon Roman
I don't know anything about wrestling, but what if they're doing this knowingly to improve his image as a last resort? Maybe I sound dumb, but could it be possible??
I stopped watching wrestling around 2015, but it was funny to see how much people hated him. I was pretty bummed out when I found out that he has Lekuma, and I hope he gets better.
I’m surprised he didn’t bring up Roman Reigns the night after he beat the undertaker, I think that crowd reaction was the peak of hatred people had for Roman. The boos were so loud that night he couldn’t even do a proper promo like they planned so he just said “ I’m the big dog” and left the arena 😭
Wrestling is a performance... theatre. His ability and skill for a main hero character is not there, because lacks charisma, which is key for that role.
@@cthulhuwayne7022 The face of the company that sells all that merchandise to kids gets to do that. They'd lose so much money if he walked out they'd give him whatever he wants.
The biggest merch seller is bray wyatt, from what I hear bray, bryan, and KO seem to have the most freedom but they still are limited in what they can say. The face of the company however is Becky lynch. Heck I think lesnar holds more power than Roman, I'm just saying.
The way Jon moxley aka Dean ambrose made it sound, if you got a problem with the script then you go to vince's office and talk to him, and he will change the script.
@@cthulhuwayne7022 I wasn't commenting on currently, all this was years ago. The reason John Cena was pushed as hard as he was was because he sold crazy amounts of merchandise to kids. And while the adult fans hated Roman I was under the impression the kids loved him and bought tons of his merch. For example, the piled river was banned, but John Cena used it because he is at the point where he can say "and what, you'll fire me? LOL" Roman probably moved enough merch to make the company enough money to be at that same level of worth. Especially with the company obviously pushing him to the moon to make him the next Cena.
The problem with Roman Reigns has always been management. Honestly, the culture within WWE is very toxic behind the scenes despite all the glitz and glamour we were made to believe, and the creative team in WWE is a prime example of that. WWE wants a new "face of the company" with Cena transiting to a part-time role, and it is valid justification to push Roman, given his appearance and actual personality. However, it is very clear that Vince McMahon is over-managing every aspect of Roman's character to elicit a response (Vince's control freak tendencies are very well-known), and no one in the corporate culture will ever dare to say "nay" to Vince, not helped with the Game of Thrones level of politicking between Vince's cronies. I can bet even The Rock will not be able to thrive with such a culture, where he has no control over what he says or does (which is ironic, cause the key to The Rock's success was precisely giving him free reign on the mic, being a natural speaker and all).
@Andre Ricardo Bryant I would not deny that success with Hogan and Cena, but times have changed. The invincible hero character has not aged well in today's scene, not to mention Vince's over-management of Reigns' push rather than let him get over organically. A formula that worked a decade ago may not work again today, but Vince and his cronies are either too prideful or too afraid to make any changes.
@@kennycai8695 I completely agree. The invincible hero storyline has become old hat, predictable & boring. It looks like the writers have tried to push Roman as an anti-hero, the bad guy with redeeming qualities. That character type was highly successful in TV shows, but they just couldn't go all in & hedged their bets with the hero bit & ended up with a mess instead
You do realise only since about 2008 vince and wwe choose who the top guy before it was the fans like the rock, stone cold, sting, hogan. They are who they because of the fans not vince.
Coming back and watching this after seeing everything Roman has been through, and where he is now. He’s certainly come a long way. The Big Dog is no more, now we have The Tribal Chief.
Him saying that Roman has no charisma and he's a bad wrestler is absolute bullshit. Just watching his few promos all the way back in FCW and NXT proves that he always had charisma and his matches are great, but I guess if you don't do the spot fest indy crap you're a bad wrestler. Only thing that held him back was creative.
They're booing the booking (which is Vince's fault), not Roman himself. When he's allowed to be himself, Roman seems like a personable guy, and he's a solid (if uninspiring) ring worker. Its the terrible booking that forces him down everyone's throats that causes the fan resentment.
@@notnice94 Everybody loved Cena? He was hated by half the audience after he rose to the main event level. The "Let's go Cena, Cena sucks" chants weren't a gimmick, dude was despised. It was similar to Roman's situation, though Roman did get more universal boos.
"Fans have also walked out in droves during Reigns' fights and played with beach balls instead of watching him in the ring" Ohw god, there goes my coffee.
My brother used to be really into wrestling, and every single time he went somewhere to buy the action figures, they’d have like 100 Roman reigns and 10 of everyone else. No one ever wanted to buy him
Connor Holt he was a regular at a restaurant I worked at. I can tell you. He is chill as hell. Zero air about him. If you didn’t know who he was you’d just think he was just a random abnormally buff dude who happens to be really nice.
John cena is respectable because of his charity work and being the guy the highest number wished fulfilled of over 500 second closest is Justin Bieber with about 300.
It's not Roman that's hated, it's "main WWE faceguy" whose hated. That's why Cena was liked before he became that wrestler, then booed while he was, and is liked again now. Same with Roman. Same with Seth, although he's still Faceguy.
You said "that time (the WWE) failed miserably to push a wrestler everyone hated as the face of the company" really it's more like THE MOST RECENT time they failed miserably to push a wrestler everyone hated as the face of the company.
they do this all the time, only problem is usually they realize "oh shit, this isnt working" and give up on the guy or change course. like with Lex Lugar, or Ryback. even the Rock. they realized rocky mavia wasnt working, so they gave him a makeover. the fact they kept their earmuffs on for basically 5 full years with Roman is insane. like, imagine they stuck with "rocky mavia" the smiling guy in white boots for 5 years, all during chants of "die rocky die"
@@heyyoitsmebrian I think it's more because they have no one else now. I mean who replaced Rocky? Stone Cold bloody Steve Austin. Who replaced Lex Luger? Bret Hart and HBK. Who can replace Roman? Well as we see now, even as a heel, only him and Drew are even relevant enough stars now.
@@koustavchatterjee9974 its more like The Rock replaced Austin, when austin was in and out of surgery every year. and its the same problem during the john cena era. theres no one else bc any new person they build up they just feed to john cena (like umaga). and i was never a fan of umaga either. but they do have a problem where there is no big time faces to face Roman on smackdown. since he won the title, hes fought jey uso, kevin owens, D bryan and cesaro. theres no one left for him to face already. we dont realize it yet but were in the middle of the new reign of terror on SD.
@@heyyoitsmebrian John Cena did have many credible opponents though. CM Punk, Edge, Randy Orton, Triple H, Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Batista. At different points in this career he lost to most of these guys. Especially Edge who was his best heel. Roman Reigns needs to face NXT talent. There are some guys who could be good faces. But for now Rey Mysterio is doing a decent job I feel.
When I went to Axxess at Wrestlemania 32, they were playing some videos for people waiting in line to get in. Every time Roman appeared on the screen he got booed, and he wasn't even there, it was just him in a video for a few seconds talking about the upcoming events.
Worst part is WWE is still pushing Roman and the rest of the roster doesnt matter. WWE has so much talent squandered by Vince thinking its still 1987/88
Lycan_Jedi yeah but you can bet that as soon as SummerSlam rolls around we will see yet another Roman versus Brock Lesnar match that seems to be guaranteed
By that point it doesn't matter the slightest bit. The Universal Championship doesn't even matter at this point. Since it's inception two years ago its been defended roughly 30 times. all because Lesnar doesn't give a shit.
NewtNoot Now you get it. Wrestling is a combat anime with the pretensions of a real spectator sport slapped on top. The thing is, it's an actual craft to sell and deliver over the top action on top of storytelling. Roman Reigns is really bad at this mainly because he is suffering from over exposure too early. He beat the undertaker which is just not something people enjoyed watching.
Questbro I don't like how Shawn Michaels, HHH, and all the legends taker wrestled and he had to be beaten by roman reigns...at least he didn't end the streak...thanks Brock for saving us.
The reason there is so much booing is mainly because everyone KNOWS the WWE want him to be the face of the company. The crowd is booing because the writing of the character is bad (including the scripts he gets), not because the wrestler is bad.
LarvicarioZ Most people BOO because his moves are boring. Even though that is more than likely the result of creative stiffling his move set, it translates to bad wrestling. At this moment I can only think of two moves Roman reigns does regularly. Spear and superman punch. Cena had a more varied move set than Roman. His move set makes him a bad wrestler, even though Roman can probably wrestle better than he is being told to.
No, I boo him for both parts. His wrestling ability is atrocious. Flat out mind numbing. He just lets you deck him for a few minutes in order to lengthen the matches, and then it's a few shoulder launches, a samoan drop/superman punch, spear and a countout. It's pathetic and dull, much like his character.
Wrestling ability has nothing to do with move choice, as StoneAlter said the creative team chooses what moves he should use. The writing and creative teams are what make him so terrible. In the Shield nobody would argue that he was a bad wrestler. In fact just ask Dave Meltzer, he has taken part in at least three 4.5 star singles matches, something that would not happen were he actually a bad wrestler.
If we think of the purpose of a good guy pro wrestler as being loved, and a bad guy pro wrestler as being hated, Roman Reigns, often through literally no actual fault of his own, can be considered one of the most spectacular failures in the history of wrestling. And the failure only grows deeper, and more certain, as year after year grinds on and the WWE wages a mental siege on its own customers. This might be the part of the story that baffles me worse than even Boo Helping Cancer Patients, (aka Boo Exploiting A Dying Child For Your Fictional Character), the fact that it just keeps going. The fact that neither Vincent Kennedy McMahon, nor his hardcore fanbase, will just submit and knock it off and do what the other wants, ever. The fact that the fans have not broken under the constant psychological gaslighting, lies, tactics and manipulations of the company, AND that said company literally just won't ever stop trying to make a hated man into everyone's hero. They want Roman Reigns to be All Might, essentially, and genuinely don't appear to understand why he's not getting that reaction from people. For years on end. They try stuff, Roman adapts to the boos and hatred, he gets more experienced, he stops talking about Tater Tots and Jack and the Beanstalk, but fundamentally it's always the same. Always. This is why LittleKuriboh's Mark Remark series he did on the wrestlings came to the ultimate conclusion that 'there is no Roman Reigns problem, this is a WWE problem'. It's absolutely systemic at this point, this dude is just the most visible and constantly hilarious symptom.
When the rock first started he was pushed as a baby and the crowds hated him so they turned him heel, i really don't see why they haven't done that with Roman Reigns
It's way to late for that. Rock never had the spot light on him when he was getting booed early in his career. It was easy for fans to forget about Rock in his early days. Let's face it. Roman doesn't have the mic skills or charisma, and will always have the stigma of being shoved down fans throats.
Laptop Menace I think their was a thing on google.....had a picture of Reigns it said... “Human equivalent to black coffee” Looks really strong, but lacks several other ingredients that make him bearrable
You forgot the most awful altercation WWE tried. There was an episode of Raw where Roman lost to Chris Jericho and there was a shot of a fan cheering after he lost. The next week they show replays of that match and they altered the fan's reaction by showing a video of him being shocked and disbelief from earlier in the match. They couldn't bother to show a different fan who was actually showed that Roman lost.
All I know about Roman Reigns is the time he said "suffering succotash" and literally that nobody likes him. People thought it was dumb that WWE pushed Cena for so long, but at least he's an interesting person.
Kris Handsome you can blame their PC Family Friendly direction for why you hear grown men say things like that. Vince is way past his prime and it’s showing for at least 15 years now.
Kai Green exactly I was a fan since the shield and even during the whole Authority Seth Rollins vs Reigns thing in 2015. It’s only now that they’re trying to make him Cena rather than let him turn heel that I can’t stand him. He’s a good worker.
I can see what they could've done with Reigns. WWE should've turned him into a brooding heel, but they keep trying to make him play a face even though he has no charisma. At least with Brock Lesnar they noticed he has the least intimidating voice ever and told him to just roar and shout instead of talk.
The crowds were a figurative cancer to the mans career. The man fought literal cancer. I’m glad he was able to recover and is back in action. His story is gonna be great one day.
Imagine being Roman, being a nice guy and decent wrestler with potential, but then your company forces you to lose your charisma, and lose cool signature moves, and push you to hell and back as you become a vessel for fans to scream their disdain for said companies.
That's exactly what it is...lol Questions should have been asked while presenting the answer with some kind of point. This is a horrible sale for persuading 🤔😂😎😆
Maybe they were chanting "This Is Boo-Urns!" Joking aside, I've seen most of these tricks from WWE before. But it is particularly impressive when even the Rock can't get you cheered.
John Cena has made more wishes for the "Make a Wish Foundation" than any other celebrity in the world. I think that's freakin' awesome; he's just a genuinely good guy!

@@bjwill9047 Why is it mean? It's the truth. The kid doesn't look happy to see him, and myself as well as 42 other people picked up on this. What? You think just because the kid has a terminal illness people aren't allowed to talk about him? There's a difference between being mean and simply making an observation.
In the US alone, a _quarter of a trillion dollars_ is spent on marketing and advertising every year. Companies do this because it's highly effective. The way advertising works is not exactly by making you "like" something-most advertising is about creating associations and awareness-but it's still salient to this argument. (And regardless of what some might think, advertising "works" on everybody who is capable of thought and learning. The evidence of its efficacy is overwhelming.)
Also, on top of that, John Cena got the same treatment as Reigns before him, and while John Cena has always had his detractors too, the hate was nowhere near as prominent.
Nevermind they put him through acting classes, he lets the crowd get under his skin to the point he froze up, has forgotten lines, and can’t think on his feet. I’d say it is partially his fault.
As both a fan of marvel and of wrestling the similarities between roman reigns and captain marvel are uncanny. However Joey anoi (roman's real name) is a pretty nice and cool guy IRL, where as brie larson is not
I went to a college football game 4+ years ago where the governor was so hated that when she donated money to a child's orphanage at half time and she was still boo'ed, including by the out of state team. The head coach of the college refused to shake their hand.
Roman Reigns is actually a decent wrestler. That's not the problem. It's much more simple than that. He was hyped before people thought he deserved to be hyped. People did not think the hype was deserved, yet. WWE didn't care what they thought. They hyped him more, and the more they hyped him, the more people turned against it. And WWE said "WE WILL MAKE YOU LIKE HIM" and then they did this. WWE fans aren't really hating ROMAN himself. They are directing their hatred at the company THROUGH him since he is just an example of the company's density, and dedication to try and force fans to buy what they're selling.
"Roman isn't a very good wrestler" Damn, thanks random smark online, I shall believe you instead of the multiple praise he has got from people like Steve Austin, Finn Balor, AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, Triple H and Braun Strowman. Because what do those guys know about wrestling, right pals?. Ok, sarcasm aside, the man is great in the ring but he has been given the most God awful material I've ever seen for a top guy.
Steve Austin praised Reigns? You probably had too much wax in your ears or confused Austin with someone else. Austin clearly stated that Reigns is a failure and needs a dramatic change.
You know the "too big to fail" problem? Well, Roman is too related to everyone to fail. He's going to keep getting pushed out of pure nepotism until he collapses into dust.
Ghostsdragon It's originally a strike from Muay Thai, meant to be converted to a faked kick to a punch. Some fighters in MMA picked up the attack, which is why you see it in the UFC.
See with Goldberg and Rhyno you can believe the spear hurt, there is just something about the way they deliver it that makes it look painful. I think it's the fact that both of them clearly take their opponent off their feet with it whereas Roman's looks pretty weak by comparison. It was the same problem I had with Edge having the Spear as a finisher, it just didn't look like it hurt as much.
The push of Roman Reigns isn't really all that inexplicable. It's classic nepotism (that makes it even more disturbing, dun'it...) he's a member of a long family line of wrestlers going back at least 40 years, including the Rock, Rikishi, the Jimmy and Jey Uso, Rocky Johnson (his dad), Peter Maivia (his grandfather), Afa, Samu, Rosey... I'm sure there are others... possibly Haku and Tama.
Eric Zickefoose Essentially, yes, but nepotism isn't the only reason. The higher ups are banking on the popularity of his relative the Rock to trickle down to Roman Reigns, sure. But another reason is that Roman is a homegrown wrestler to the WWE. All the other viable (and more deserving) faces of the WWE were wrestlers who honed their craft in other promotions outside of WWE and it looks like they just refuse to accept that the other guys will just be more popular. Braun Strowman is the only exception but WWE's writing depicts him as a lumbering monster who they can't put as the face of the company because he's not good looking enough.
It took years, but Roman is over with the fans now. He finally learned some moves, got a good storyline, got a new stable around him, and was put with Paul Heyman...all are very important to success. I didn't see it coming because of all of the things in this video from several years ago. It's 5+ years old at the point when I'm commenting.
Roman is a GREAT wrestler, but they tried to push him so hard that it fucked their chances. And wank pheasants are a glorious creation of Ross Tweddell from Cultaholic
I was at RAW the night after 2017 Mania in Orlando, the night after he beat the Undertaker. No joke, the crowd booed him for 15-20 minutes straight. It was deafening and I've never seen anything like it.
Just discovered this channel tonight and where has this man been all my life?!! I’ve watched so many videos already and saved so many more to my playlists. Wish I had found this channel years ago. Awesome content!
You guys really, REALLY need to do a follow-up video on Roman Reigns. He left for a while, came back as a bad guy, and has now been the Undisputed Champion for over 1,000 days.
Lets make something clear, People hate his Booking as a character, They don't hate him as a person. When he was a member of the shield he was one of the most over people in the company, the problems started when the shield broke up and WWE started using him as the full time replacement in the making for John Cena, Roman has consistently been a good performer but his attitude is misplaced and he badly needs a heel run similar to those of Stone Cold and The Rock, As it helped to develop each of their character's and gave them more legitimacy when they eventually turned baby face. IMO
I hate the character that WWE pushes him as, but I legitimately feel awful for the man. They need to make a big change, instead of doubling down on his character that obviously nobody is receptive towards.
For reference the term wank pheasant being used by wrestling fans was started by another youtube channel called what culture where a character called King Ross would point out WTF moments from RAW and make insults towards the people on the show such as "wank pheasant". It was really funny but sadly the journalist portraying the character doesn't work for them anymore so it ended :(
100% agree with this video. That said, when he did come out to retire due to leukaemia, I found it amazing that is when the crowd finally started to cheer him. Though that’s something that would deserve a “face turn”
Ethbot Bot sorry to disappoint ya mate but that was years ago I have no clue where the fuck it is. But I promise, if I some how bump into it I’ll send you a pic.
Better watch out, my dude, cause Whatculture has the copyright on "King Ross" and I don't think they'd take too kindly to one of the Sexual Wank Pheasants using it so liberally without paying the toll.
Incorrect. The term appeared on a sign that a fan held up right beside Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania in 2015. It was a popular term since then. King Ross hadn't even appeared on WhatCulture by that point, not to mention Cultaholic.
At least now he is no where near hated as much as he was like 2 years ago. In the Royal Rumble he even oulled some great reactions from the crowd, wich i never imagined 2 years ago.
The funny thing is The Rock was initially hated. As Rocky Miavia chants "Rocky Sucks!" as the bright eyed bird generation was loathed. After his heel turn as the Rock people came to love him and his charisma and catch phrases "it doesn't matter! Know your role and shut your mouth!" becoming on the most popular WWF wrestlers of all time.
theres a huge difference ... the WWE realized it wasnt working with Rocky Miavia so they changed gears after like 6 months the WWE realized it wasnt working with Roman, yet they stuck with it for SIX YEARS
Lethal Interjection and look what happened tonight. They all got their wish. Sometimes people have got to be careful what they wish for. 😔 I hated the Roman Reigns gimmick myself but respected everyone on that roster and would never wish harm on a superstar that is willing to perform for us week in week out. I hope Joe (Roman Reigns actual name) recovers from Leukaemia and is back in the ring performing ASAP. Maybe ease him to a heel after a few months depending on the attitude of the WWE universe. However the main thing is that he recovers alongside his friends and family. 🙌🏻
RKO is so quick, it can come from anywhere. reminds me of something... ohh yea... Diamond Dallas Page in WCW. That was his whole fucking gimmick all through the late nineties.
Michael Gatti it just shows how Vince made the WCW guys miserable in their WWE run. Seriously I hope him, his filthy daughter and his leech of a son in law all get ass cancer.
Quinn, your comment just made me look like someone farted and mutter damn to myself. That is such a harsh fate for anyone. It's a funny comment, but harsh. It's like booing a terminally ill cancer kid, but scaled back about 3 notches. Still funny, but in a bad way
The thing i've always respected about John Cena is that when the dude gets booed or heckled he literally gives ZERO shits, with Roman I think it's obvious he takes it personally and the smarks sense blood in the water and hate on him even harder. For the love of god Vince it's obvious to EVERYONE forcing Roman as the face of the company has failed, miserably, turn the poor guy heel, let him get over on his own and try again in a few years, because at the moment, you're just beating a dead horse.
In real life Reigns is quite the scumbag. He as good as told a guy to die on social media just because the guy wasn't religious like Reigns. Reigns was tweeting about Hurricane Irma and all this guy said was that he didn't believe in God so Reigns went full fanatic on him and said "Faithless fool. When your time on earth is done enjoy nothing." He basically went full on Judge Frollo on somebody for not sharing his beliefs. He also called a fan a dumbass mark because Reigns apparently thinks being handed everything by Vince means he works his ass off and acted like he's the only husband and father who ever has to be away from their wife and kids and thinks that means he isn't handed anything.
I have a hard time believing he "told someone to die" simply because someone said they didn't believe in god, im sure they said it in a way that was personal and/or insulting(like internet people do) to RR, the quote you put is in no way telling someone to die anyway. I don't like Roman Reigns the wrestler, but the person behind RR hasn't done or said anything that any other superstar hasn't done at some point. He didn't ask to be pushed to the extent he has, he's simply taking what is being offered to him like me, you or anybody else in his position would do. I HATE Roman Reigns in wwe, but in real life he's a nice enough guy.
Have him turn heel and let him play a great villain. People love to boo him so let him play into it. Eventually he goes from being a hated face to a crowd-favourite villain. Then you can build him back up as a face and have a redemption storyline.
This could just work so good, just make him an heel! Nobody likes him already, write him to snap and become more and more of an ass, and boom, perfect heel.
I remember attending MITB 2018, I think it was, and it was Roman vs Mahal. The amount of not-caring that the crowd displayed was hysterical. It was chicago, so of course they chanted CM Punk, You Can't Wrestle, cheering whenever Jinder got offense in, "Let's go Jinder" "Roman sucks!". The best part was when the crowd started doing the wave - the WAVE of all things. But was so funny about it was that Roman was working Jinder in the corner at the time, and if you look back at the footage, you can see the footage rapidly change angles to avoid the wave. Like, every arm hammer had the angle change. Smooth, Kevin Dunn. Smooth.
I like how a month after this came out, he puts on a pretty good match with bobby fing Ashley of all people. He's also put on good matches with AJ Styles and a few others.
Unpopular opinion, maybe because I've mostly watched him after his return from recovery: Roman is a dark hero, dressing in black, moody and unsmiling, because he is constantly fighting the darkness inside. The hate from the fans and the abuse from the heels simmers within and he could turn to the dark side at any moment. But he doesn't. He clings to the side of goodness because he has to. In a world where evil is celebrated and you are cheered the more brutal you can beat someone up, someone needs to be the light in the darkness. Someone needs to stand up for pure goodness. And since the WWE needs a hero, it might as well be him. I sound like an idiot I know. But that's my theory. And I will stick to it.
This guy has been champion for 3 years…

This could make a great villain origin.
after years of the constant booing, he snaps.
"You all seem to want to hate me. Nothing I do ca make you happy.
So if you want me to be the villain..."
immediately Bane style breaks the back of his opponent. he crouches low, near the face of the opponent writhing in agony.
"I'll be the villain."
A whole bunch of fellow 'good guy' wrestlers come in to try to stop him, but now that Roman Reigns, who could effortlessly fight off any opponent, is fighting dirty, none of them stand a chance.
soon it turns into an all out brawl, with heels and faces alike in a massive free for all, and in the center of it all, Roman.
Um it might i watch wwe a lot big fan i mean wwe coming more into a pg array. Maybe you could make him do a promo. Like kinda you know Turing
I dont watch wrestling, but I do want to see someone do a bane style back break over his knee.
ok tbh, i'd love to see him say that one line that would be awesome
At least everybody didn’t hate him immediately. It was only when they pushed him last year that everyone hated him. He’s been in the wwe for a while
@@ShamrockShows well the year before he was pushed to the moon he was SUPER OVER with everyone

It’s ok now, they made him a heel and fixed his character. He’s now probably the most beloved guy on the active roster, at least by the internet wrestling community
How can he be a good guy when every promo photo has him looking menacing ?
Team 974 hes not a good guy hes not a bad guy
Ivan Nuñez he's the guy 😂😂😂
What makes him "menacing" to you personally?
Team 974 being menacing doesn’t make you a heel, a heel is a dirty fighter who is desperate so they do low blows and tell the fans they don’t mean anything to them
Did u say....menacing????????
Another reason he's hated is his stale and unchanging character. Since his SHIELD days, what's different about his character? Nothing. Not even ring attire and entrance music! It reeks of desperation to get people to like him solely because, "He was with the SHIELD, guys! He's cool, right?"
Compare him to Seth or Dean who are significantly different characters to who they were after the SHIELD disbanded.
Macent And the overused spear is still his ONLY finisher.
Macent Roman is greatest. That's a fact
He got no special moves, he got no charisma, he got no cool backstory and he got no flashy fighting style - I don't get why they'd promote him so much, but I guess connections are bigger than skill.

@Rented I don't think people have gotten to do that in 20 years.
LOL"
Roman probably moved enough merch to make the company enough money to be at that same level of worth.
Andre Ricardo Bryant wrong
Dude, it's wrestling, they are all corporate creations.
They're booing the booking (which is Vince's fault), not Roman himself. When he's allowed to be himself, Roman seems like a personable guy, and he's a solid (if uninspiring) ring worker. Its the terrible booking that forces him down everyone's throats that causes the fan resentment.

they do this all the time, only problem is usually they realize "oh shit, this isnt working" and give up on the guy or change course. like with Lex Lugar, or Ryback. even the Rock. they realized rocky mavia wasnt working, so they gave him a makeover. the fact they kept their earmuffs on for basically 5 full years with Roman is insane. like, imagine they stuck with "rocky mavia" the smiling guy in white boots for 5 years, all during chants of "die rocky die"

I think Vince is so senile he's probably started to hallucinate Reigns as 1980's era Hogan.
So...wrestling is basically shonen anime but in real life?
NewtNoot Now you get it. Wrestling is a combat anime with the pretensions of a real spectator sport slapped on top. The thing is, it's an actual craft to sell and deliver over the top action on top of storytelling. Roman Reigns is really bad at this mainly because he is suffering from over exposure too early. He beat the undertaker which is just not something people enjoyed watching.
Questbro I don't like how Shawn Michaels, HHH, and all the legends taker wrestled and he had to be beaten by roman reigns...at least he didn't end the streak...thanks Brock for saving us.
Yep. SuperEyepatch Wolf even did a video talking about how too.
No, just WWE and impact. NJPW is basically real fighting
NJPW isn't real fighting but you'd probably get more fucked up in a New Japan ring than in an actual fight.

Because little kids are still buying his t shirts and action figures
Cause he’s “Vince’s Boy”
It's way to late for that. Rock never had the spot light on him when he was getting booed early in his career. It was easy for fans to forget about Rock in his early days. Let's face it. Roman doesn't have the mic skills or charisma, and will always have the stigma of being shoved down fans throats.
Laptop Menace I think their was a thing on google.....had a picture of Reigns it said...
“Human equivalent to black coffee”
Looks really strong, but lacks several other ingredients that make him bearrable
Because The Rock possessed about fifty times more charisma than Roman has.
Kris Handsome actually there's plenty of people that do like including myself the problem is the way he has been presented not him
Kris Handsome you can blame their PC Family Friendly direction for why you hear grown men say things like that.
Roman Reigns is practically tailor made to be a brooding, man of few words tough guy. What were they thinking with that dumb shit?
I can see what they could've done with Reigns. WWE should've turned him into a brooding heel, but they keep trying to make him play a face even though he has no charisma. At least with Brock Lesnar they noticed he has the least intimidating voice ever and told him to just roar and shout instead of talk.
The crowds were a figurative cancer to the mans career. The man fought literal cancer. I’m glad he was able to recover and is back in action. His story is gonna be great one day.
In wwe games Romans crowd reaction is always cheer
Imagine being Roman, being a nice guy and decent wrestler with potential, but then your company forces you to lose your charisma, and lose cool signature moves, and push you to hell and back as you become a vessel for fans to scream their disdain for said companies.

It's sadly not really his fault. Your natural reaction to being TOLD what to like will almost always result in doing the opposite.

They are directing their hatred at the company THROUGH him since he is just an example of the company's density, and dedication to try and force fans to buy what they're selling.
ᵗʰᵉNight★Star he’s a shit wrestler, he has like 5 moves and can’t put on a decent match without being carried
So you're right and Austin who stated that Roman can go is wrong?
"Roman isn't a very good wrestler" Damn, thanks random smark online, I shall believe you instead of the multiple praise he has got from people like Steve Austin, Finn Balor, AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, Triple H and Braun Strowman. Because what do those guys know about wrestling, right pals?.
Ok, sarcasm aside, the man is great in the ring but he has been given the most God awful material I've ever seen for a top guy.
Yeah I love watching 24556754333 Superman punches in a row.
Steve Austin praised Reigns? You probably had too much wax in your ears or confused Austin with someone else. Austin clearly stated that Reigns is a failure and needs a dramatic change.
"that time they failed spectacularly to push a wrestler everyone hated as the face of the company" is still happening...
Remember what happened to the Roman Empire? It fell.
Fennecfoxfanatic K. When the words The Roman Empire are spoken around me I always say you mean The Fall of the Roman Empire
The Roman empire will fall... Again and again and again
If Reigns lived during the time of the real Roman Empire he'd have been thrown to the lions.
The Roman Empire was never erected, though.
But BRRRROOOOCKKK LLLLEEEEESSSNNNNAAARRRR has made it crumble for god knows how many times already.
The John Cena lunchbox has weed in it. Just sayin'
Agreed
This is wild to watch now. Now Roman reigns is one of if not the best thing about current wwe
🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wanna know what WWE youre watching because i don't think we're watching the same one
You know the "too big to fail" problem? Well, Roman is too related to everyone to fail. He's going to keep getting pushed out of pure nepotism until he collapses into dust.
a flying punch can be a cool dynamic move.
as a normal attack. not as a finisher. that's a terrible finisher.
It's a signature move, not a finisher.
You want hear something funny in the UFC The superman punch is accutaly used as a attack xD
Ghostsdragon It's originally a strike from Muay Thai, meant to be converted to a faked kick to a punch. Some fighters in MMA picked up the attack, which is why you see it in the UFC.
His finisher is a spear. I've never liked the spear at all. It's just a double leg takedown, with a run up.
Eric Zickefoose rocky johnson is the Rock’s dad
It took years, but Roman is over with the fans now. He finally learned some moves, got a good storyline, got a new stable around him, and was put with Paul Heyman...all are very important to success.
I didn't see it coming because of all of the things in this video from several years ago. It's 5+ years old at the point when I'm commenting.
"saving kittens from a burning orphanage?" Don't give Vince any ideas
Put Jon Cena meme here. Now it's a WWE video
blue team teen Caboose spell john Cena right. Now it's a WWE video
Thats the Swedish Version "Jon Cenasson
blue team teen Caboose I can't see the meme.
JoJ CeeC PooPz on yo po,oh,oh,oh,oh,ohasssttt!!!
*Cue Michael Bay explosion*
Mambi Moisture yep
The fact that he doesn’t know what Evan Bourne’s finisher is concerns me.
To be honest, I forgot what Evan Bourne's finisher was called too....
It's called Shooting Star Press or Airbourne in case of Evan, it's the same move which gave Lesner a concussion in his match with Kurt Angle😅
@@anmolkale16 Botching that the way Lesner did would have most likely paralyzed or killed pretty much anyone else.
Roman is a GREAT wrestler, but they tried to push him so hard that it fucked their chances.
And wank pheasants are a glorious creation of Ross Tweddell from Cultaholic
KIIIIIIIIIIIIIIINGAAAA!
I was at RAW the night after 2017 Mania in Orlando, the night after he beat the Undertaker. No joke, the crowd booed him for 15-20 minutes straight. It was deafening and I've never seen anything like it.
wwe needs to stop overpushing him.
Just discovered this channel tonight and where has this man been all my life?!! I’ve watched so many videos already and saved so many more to my playlists. Wish I had found this channel years ago. Awesome content!
You guys really, REALLY need to do a follow-up video on Roman Reigns. He left for a while, came back as a bad guy, and has now been the Undisputed Champion for over 1,000 days.
sadly the fans are slowly turning on his storyline once again
I love how you get the point across, but also go on rants and stories. It's the sole reason I subscribed, keep it up :D
It was really funny but sadly the journalist portraying the character doesn't work for them anymore so it ended :(
He does WTF moments with Cultaholic now
J NonyoBuissness Adam Paccitti is a wank pheasant
You have it backwards....Ross got the phrase from the sign, he wasn't even at Whatculture in April 2015 [when that sign appeared]
100% agree with this video.
That said, when he did come out to retire due to leukaemia, I found it amazing that is when the crowd finally started to cheer him. Though that’s something that would deserve a “face turn”
I got him as an action figure from a car boot sale and I dressed him up as a girl, make up and heels. Everything.
😂
Is he pretty?
I AM SPONGEBOB, DESTROYER OF EVIL very
Ethbot Bot sorry to disappoint ya mate but that was years ago I have no clue where the fuck it is. But I promise, if I some how bump into it I’ll send you a pic.
Oovoo Javier kinky.
I remember that RKO randy did to Evan Bourne.... needless to say Evan was one of my favorite wrestlers of all time
He's wrestling in AEW now!
He wasn’t a bad wrestler tho. He was just booked like Cena
Eric Jarvis He’s doing just fine I wwe. He spends less time on the mic and they treat him like a star. And Mox is the only real star in AEW
The crowd loved him before they started having him come out and do the lame Cena promos
@@chriscothron3606 and then when Cena had a promo with Roman, Roman was destroyed
unohana Retsu shut up.
unohana Retsu he was tbh , a false narrative was created because neck beards didn’t like him
This video is kinda dark
Oovoo Javier I noticed that also
It feels like he’s recording in a dark closet
As dark as the color your mom likes...
Rand0m411 your mom jokes wow so original
Because it's from the DC Universe
Wank Pheasant is a term that is coined by King Ross on Cultoholics. He causes Roman and other wrestlers a wank pheasant and it just caught on.
All I can say to your comment is.... Happy Rusev Day.
Better watch out, my dude, cause Whatculture has the copyright on "King Ross" and I don't think they'd take too kindly to one of the Sexual Wank Pheasants using it so liberally without paying the toll.
Remember it’s Catchphrase King comma Ross. We don’t want him to be got from name redacted
Catchphrase King COMMA Ross, copyright amigo
Incorrect. The term appeared on a sign that a fan held up right beside Roman Reigns at Wrestlemania in 2015. It was a popular term since then. King Ross hadn't even appeared on WhatCulture by that point, not to mention Cultaholic.
You are insane saying that Roman cant wrestle, I admit his mic skills arent the greatest. However, Roman can fucking wrestle.
In 2020 he is is now a heel and people actually like him because he was someone who should have always been a heel
that kid didn't even look like he wanted to meet him
*Injured Cena gets Make-A-Wish visit from self*
Cena memes are the best xD
Roman Reigns is a Mary Sue
The male version of a Mary Sue is called Gary Stu
Large Lad soooooo your everyday undertale OC
Large Lad soooooo your everyday undertale OC
Kinda. But the biggest mary sue in wrestling is definitely John Cena which made half the crowd hate him
Hulk Hogan: Hold my beer.
The term "X Pac Heat" will now and forever be known as "Roman Heat"
8:54 The Rock: BOO! That is a noise The Rock hasn't heard in a thousand moons.
“The light of the rock could not escape the black hole” lmao good shit
At least now he is no where near hated as much as he was like 2 years ago. In the Royal Rumble he even oulled some great reactions from the crowd, wich i never imagined 2 years ago.
The funny thing is The Rock was initially hated. As Rocky Miavia chants "Rocky Sucks!" as the bright eyed bird generation was loathed. After his heel turn as the Rock people came to love him and his charisma and catch phrases "it doesn't matter! Know your role and shut your mouth!" becoming on the most popular WWF wrestlers of all time.
It wasn't just "Rocky Sucks!"...
People even started chanting "DIE ROCKY DIE"
And just look at him now.
theres a huge difference ...
the WWE realized it wasnt working with Rocky Miavia so they changed gears after like 6 months
the WWE realized it wasnt working with Roman, yet they stuck with it for SIX YEARS
wwe fanboys even went out of their way to send death threats to reigns.
IKR? Booing him, that's regular and basic. But threatening him? I feel really sorry for him just for that.
People send death threats for the stupidest reasons in this age. Too much free time and only 1st world problems.
Not even just roman, they've even wanted his kids dead
Lethal Interjection and look what happened tonight. They all got their wish. Sometimes people have got to be careful what they wish for. 😔
I hated the Roman Reigns gimmick myself but respected everyone on that roster and would never wish harm on a superstar that is willing to perform for us week in week out.
I hope Joe (Roman Reigns actual name) recovers from Leukaemia and is back in the ring performing ASAP. Maybe ease him to a heel after a few months depending on the attitude of the WWE universe.
However the main thing is that he recovers alongside his friends and family. 🙌🏻
@@Vaxity that's disgusting. The poor man is only doing his job.
8:59 the Rocks face kills me during this xD
"Why are they booing us Mr Reigns? Aren't you popular?"
"Sure I am kid! They must just hate YOU!"
WWE using charity to try to guilt the fans into cheering wrestlers they don't like has always been sick.
RKO is so quick, it can come from anywhere. reminds me of something... ohh yea... Diamond Dallas Page in WCW. That was his whole fucking gimmick all through the late nineties.
Quinn Meche agreed. The Master of the Diamond Cutter. He knows over 100 ways to get you in it. He was very underrated.
Still funny, but in a bad way
youngrasheed314 the only thing that could make me happier would be if I could personally inject each one with HIV.
I don't like Cena as a wrestler but at least in real life he doesn't go on social media and threaten people for not liking him like Reigns does.
Oh yeah I don't care for him as a wrestler either, I just like that he doesn't care if he's booed. Whereas it clearly bothers RR
They don't want that. And granted he is no longer booed.
You know, they actually got everyone to cheer on him with one line.
"My name is Joe, and I have leukemia"
I feel so bad for this man - he seems so nice and I feel awful for him just stood in the ring whilst people boo him and he has to keep going
"my sword is a tool of Justice"
Back then they hid the fact that the fans were booing him and now they are hiding the fact that the fans are cheering for him
