We used to have lots of fun with the etchesketch as kids. I really do wish I had a lathe so many things like you that I could make. hmm The part looks great.
Great video Keith I was stumped as to what you were making when you made the bend I instantly thought it was a handle for a fire door on the boiler or something lol but it made a heavy duty pin thanks for sharing stay safe all the best
Wow! You had an Etch-a-sketch? Those we're made about an hour west from my home in Bryan Ohio. I never once thought that toy made it to England. Sadly, the original factory stopped making them and the quality has never been the same.
Well I can't seem to 'blink at the right speed' to not see the hammer blows. lol Guess I'm never going to be the machinist you are so I'll just have to keep watching. Nice video. :)
I know you've likely answered this in another video, but I cannot for the life of me find it.. What size is your lathe? They're measured in max height from center i think.... just curious how big I might want to look at, the one a friend and I bought is broken beyond being worth repairing, I'm looking at a new one. What I need it for making scuba products and paintball bits doesn't have to be large at all, but there's a part of me that wants to try something like a Victoria :-)
Not only useful, but a delight to watch. `I like your easy, gentle style. Thanks.
Great work Keith 🙂👍💙

Will you make a third for the perch bracket under the smokebox?
I remember a friend making these in 1984 for a full size engine.
I think there's one already fitted . . .
Funny that I knew exactly what it was when the video started.
it was supposed to be a banana }:-)))
@@keithappleton Well damn, you had me fooled! I was so sure it was a towing bar pin...
Your traction engine will look good when you get the engine and the driving truck and water carrier it will look like a road train
