Also reminds me of that vaporwareish/no-one-uses hardware that HP bought out, Leap Motion. I do think once the tech is absolutely perfected, which would be the day I put on regular Oakleys and I'm in 2nd Life, and I get Fast Charge from the Sun; this will be gimmicky. Kinect was ahead of its time. So is this. By the time this is perfected, the phones will be crystalline in glass, with no batteries. Like in "The Expanse". Until then, Cool.
I was a longtime multiple Samsung device household, but i tried something new with the G6. I mostly like it, but the resale value on it is absolute crap. I can buy a brand new unlocked phone for $150. The supposed sale price when i got it $1000. Its not even a year old.
They never were and will never be equal competitors. LG likes to think that they are on Samsung’s level, smartphone or whatnot. But the FACT is, they trail behind Samsung in every single aspect. You can look up the stats yourself.
Can you imagine showing from 4:50 onwards in this video to someone 30 years ago? I fully support any tech that gives me that "We're in the future now" feeling.
Hey Marques, I don't know if you'll read this but can you make a "Smart Home" video? LG sells a wide variety of home products ( washing machine/ Fridge ) and so does Samsung. I would love to see that type of video to see how far smart home has really become.. smart.
@@root9065 It isn't biased, he said in the video that he only got to use the G8 for an hour. He recorded the audio at home and used the Samsung to show what the LG could do because he wasn't allowed to take the G8 with him Might wanna think before you comment
Samsung and LG are closer competitors as a whole than you'd think, especially in South Korea. They really cover many more tech devices than just phones. Feels like the only reason LG still puts out phones is because it is indirectly marketing the rest of their tech, their brand awareness as a whole. You'd be more likely to consider LG for your TV, your refrigerator, your washer and dryer, etc. just because you're aware they put out good quality phones (even if they're not good enough to directly best Samsung's phones any more.) That's also why they fail so hard at marketing their phones - they just want the phone to be marketing in itself for other areas of the company, where they feel they can get a win over Samsung.
@@PhantasmXYZ Samsung wins the competition because of the advertisements but the advertiser itself uses iPhone, you can see that they use appliances from LG tbh.
I feel bad. LG has completely (in my opinion) lost their identity in the phone market. Spending tons of money for tech that doesn't work or matter except the DAC of course. I can't think of a practical use of the palm-motion thing. I mean, did they forget if someone's hands are busy and cooking food, how do you set a timer? Watch this: "Hey Google, set timer for 20 minutes". Done. No awkward hold hand up to phone and angle it just right. I feel like LG is heading back to the Galaxy s4 days of gimmicky screen hovering hand motions that are chore to use anyway. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to seem like an LG hater. As someone who loves audio, the DAC in this phone (when it works/enabled) is amazing, hands down. Practical use case like the palm thing? Subjective. LG needs to age with the consumer in the right way.
Yujiza the problem with LG is that they have nothing that really stands out with their phones compared to other android phones. Samsung has awesome displays and design. Google has its awesome camera and stock software. OnePlus has a great price. LG has... a phone. They’re kinda irrelevant now.
The boom box speaker is pretty awesome, the DAC, and the wide angle lens. All features that are useful and unique. It's also more durable than any Samsung phone I've ever owned. Are they quite as cool as the main brands? Perhaps not, but most of that is just marketing hype. Personally I think LG gives you a lot of phone for a better price, at least if you wait a few months to grab one.
@Shlomo Shekelberg - That's exactly it. They can try to be cheaper than Samsung and Apple, but there are better options for "budget" phones. So what next? Camera? Aesthetic?
Ya know, I agree with this but with one bright spot in the future maybe. The hand motion stuff, yeah futuristic Tony Stark tech. I could see that taking off and assisting with expanding technology. They could probably put this into a tablet(large one) and possibly autocad folks can utilize it. There's so many places they could take this t ed ch but they are bound to screw it up as they usually do. My biggest gripe why I haven't bough an LG device since the G4, is that they moved away from the curved back. That was the absolute best design for a phone in my opinion, especially with the volume buttons back there. It felt very natural to use. But no, they decided to completely move away from that and now they are lost in translation in the sea of all other look alike devices.
I super love LG, every time I'm pissed at them enough for there lack of updates, dated UI and other minor flaws they bring something to have me looking at them again. Dammit!
Oboy!!! Unlocking one's phone just got way complex, from regular finger print scanning to, to iris scanner, to unlocking with front camera, to 3d facial mapping, to under the glass finger print, to ultra sonic finger print, now lg has this vein thing.....let us not forget we still have regular password and patterns!!!! This is a good time to be alive
On my LG G7, I have facial unlock, fingerprint, and passcode all enabled so I got 3 ways to unlock it. But it also has voice unlock so... Ya, so many ways to unlock a phone 😂
I absolutely LOVE my LG G6. The ONLY thing I dislike about it, is the selfie camera. It's terrible! If LG reproduce the G6 with a fantastic selfie camera, then I'm sold.

LG is one of the underrated beast in the world of smartphone.
You have the big sibling
Samsung
And the other sibling
Lg
They do the same thing
But one's weakess is the other's strength
Not really, most of their phones have huge problems and simply aren't worth considering
Samsung and LG are closer competitors as a whole than you'd think, especially in South Korea. They really cover many more tech devices than just phones.
Feels like the only reason LG still puts out phones is because it is indirectly marketing the rest of their tech, their brand awareness as a whole. You'd be more likely to consider LG for your TV, your refrigerator, your washer and dryer, etc. just because you're aware they put out good quality phones (even if they're not good enough to directly best Samsung's phones any more.)
That's also why they fail so hard at marketing their phones - they just want the phone to be marketing in itself for other areas of the company, where they feel they can get a win over Samsung.
@@PhantasmXYZ Samsung wins the competition because of the advertisements but the advertiser itself uses iPhone, you can see that they use appliances from LG tbh.
LG cannot make good phones
Buying a phone on the release date is like Beta testing it.
Buying almost everything on the release date
Roll Charlie around, he'll be alright.
@Shlomo Shekelberg what about the V series, the V30 was the best phone of 2017 and the V40 had the best camera of any phone in 2018.
I super love LG, every time I'm pissed at them enough for there lack of updates, dated UI and other minor flaws they bring something to have me looking at them again. Dammit!
Lg g8 got a bank security door 😂😂

This is a good time to be alive
On my LG G7, I have facial unlock, fingerprint, and passcode all enabled so I got 3 ways to unlock it. But it also has voice unlock so... Ya, so many ways to unlock a phone 😂
Wait for the time that phones will only unlock if it detected your DNA.
