All these negative comments about the girl's playing as if people could do any better themselves! She was FIFTEEN for this performance, that is INCREDIBLE and very impressive! Her tone and vibrato are gorgeous, and she barely makes any mistakes unless you're actively looking for them. Honestly, people need to grow up. If anything, get on the orchestra behind her, not her. Beautiful performance by this performer.
This is my favorite recording of the Chaminade. Not too fast like James Galway's, but still has that great musicality, tone and tenderness needed for this piece. She only messes up like twice and they were just two cracks that wouldn't have been noticeable had I not been looking for a mistake. I wish I could memorize it as well as she did. The way she plays the cadenza is exactly how I wish to play it. She looks and plays beautifully. AMAZING. Also, orchestra did great too.
Live performances are never going to be perfect. You can nitpick all you want but nothing changes the fact that she is incredibly talented and has spent so many hours practicing her flute! Beautiful performance!!❤️ people are being too snobby in the comments :(
it's a good recording.. but she did mess up once in the first major run with the double tonguing at the end. my only thing is that she plays with very little emotion. besides that one slip, you can tell she knows the music and how to play, and i don't doubt her playing- but she needs to play with more emotion. but very well done :)
So it is easier to play Chaminade's Concertino with orchestra compared to with piano because the flutist have the option of not playing bar 98-110 when doing it with orchestra?
Well, conductors are mostly for show nowadays. They do work with the orchestra, but pretty much only during rehearsals. After the rehearsals, most orchestras can easily memorize the pace of the piece, and when they need to be playing, when they need to stop etc., but they still have the conductor there, but for show. In a sense he is also performing, but for entertainment.
Sorry, I disagree. Watch the you-tube vid---Gerard Schwarz, how to conduct Beethoven's 5th. He says that most of the time a good orchestra doesn't need you, but it does need you in a few critical spots. Also the conductor is there to reinforce what is written in the score, and to provide a certain amount of momentum. Esa-Pekka Salonen has a good vid on the job of a conductor.
Beautifully played but the orchestra and her aren't quite together in few moments! As a flute player I understand how hard it is to be playing perfectly in time with orchestra or piano accompanist but I'm sure she's professional. Isn't she? Anyways I still enjoyed it!
I wasn't moved by this performance. She was only 15. I'm sure she's even better now. Some her runs got lost in the orchestra. Still a good performance.
starry0601 This is French repertoire which was commonly used and often written to be used as an audition piece. I highly doubt that such a piece would be written with an orchestral accompaniment.
xXCloudWolfXx I do agree with your first sentence, however as I said concertino is a small one movement concerto, and a concerto is a composition for one or more solo instruments accompanied by an orchestra. Chaminade composed this piece in 1902 for flute and orchestra and later arranged for flute and piano.
I had to save my ears from this performance two minutes in. The opening theme sets the tone for this entire piece. She is playing this piece; she is not feeling this piece. BIG DIFFERENCE! Would not have flown at my consevatory. Might I suggest she play "Tambourin" by Gossec for less of a challenge?

People are being so stuck up! She’s incredible 👏👏
“One minute on the stage, ten years of practice off the stage”
and she did it 👍
Mommy mommy no mommy 🎉🎉🎉🎉

Thank you random guy in the audience for the beautiful snorting at 2:07
Perfectly synched with the conductor!
that mightve been the conductor himself lol
Your tempo is fantastic and exciting!! Keep it up. Bravo!
Beautiful performance from the soloist
At 6:51 the conductor came in way too early. Not only is a whole not, it has a fermata. I’m mad 😡
um you can see her signal to him to get ready/come in

She gets… all the flowers!

Probably an issue in their practice, but does kinda make me wonder why?
Rip the mistake at 4:34 but she went on so that’s great 👍👍😀
Amazing!
"Beautiful music. Here, let us over-encumber you with flowers that block your view."
Since she's the one with the solo, isn't the orchestra supposed to follow her? (Via the conductor) ?

Very nice performance. Smiling forbidden there?
hey they might just be nervous
Is it me or did her runs get lost within the orchestral sound? Also did something not sound right at the beginning?
Can someone tell me what the name of the performer, composer and composition
+JasmineIsHere
performer: Sonia Ruiz
Flute Concertino in D Major, Op. 107, by C. Chaminade
+JasmineIsHere its in the description....

she's 15!
спасибо.
Mommy no I’m just 😢🎉😢😢🎉🎉😢😢😢😢🎉🎉🎉🎉😢🎉😢🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
anyone know what kind of flute she plays?
Jenifer Swanson
It is a Muramatsu III.
Cool
Jenifer Swanson
I meant a Muramatsu GX-III
the conductor looked so serious, looked did not really trust the player (sorry, this is how I felt)

This is supposed to be for flute and piano...
And your point?
There are arrangements for flute and orchestra, things like this are quite common if you'd just look around a little more for them
Concertino is a concerto...it's even in the name which means short concerto. The flute and piano is an arrangement

Wow! Beatifully played! If you have time or are curious, you should check out my recording! Concertino for Flute and Piano- C. Chaminade Thank you!

bit harsh, I agree it was a pretty emotionally boring performance, but shes 15 here, it was still an incredibly technically impressive playing
who are that 4 people who gave "dislike" for this concertino?
perfectly..
Chaminade's ex-boyfriend and his wife.
