Programs like this should be nationwide. Give those who want a second chance to be productive citizens.
Also pay these inmates, at least minimum wage for risking theirs lives to stop the fires! I don’t think it’s a lot to ask.
@davy209 i guess you only get your news from social media, because if you actually watch the news, you know those inmates ate getting $5.xx per hour.
This is a great program.
Thank you to these men that are helping with these fires, saving lives, making a new life for themselves.
Thank you Thank you Thank you
they do not let them become firefighters after release as far as i know. Did they change that law? These reporters should give us info when that has changed
@@georgewashington3555
"These reports" DO give information.
In the 1st 29 seconds of this video it is explained that this program help transition people into permanent positions.
Which is a great program.
I know of two that have become excellent employees of Edison, keeping our power supply safe and our communities safer❤❤❤Edit...Before that they were in a downward path, but are now saving countless lives.
@638g 👍🏻That's awesome.
☮ to you, your family & friends.
Not if they get paid $1/houI. Unable to become firefighters after released from incarceration. It's glorified slavery....
I fought fires in the 80s and the cons were right there with their own crew doing the hard work like everyone else. I commend Chief Ramey and all of his graduates as we need them now as much as ever. Keep up the great work, Sir.
Thank you for bringing light to this wonderful cause. Royal is an angel, thank you to all of our self-less first responders.
Programs like this should be nationwide..everybody deserves a second chance.... many blessings to all of you
Thanks for acknowledging the prisoners
WHO KNOWS??? if the massively gluttonously wealthy decided to HELP the POOR instead of DENY them & WHINE about getting them OUT of their vision - things may be different TODAY?
YES❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My heartfelt gratitude to all the first responders and firefighters helping to fight the fires in LA. May you all be safe from any harm.
I love that prisons have a firefighting program. I lived by a guy who had been incarcerated, and he proudly talked about his training and is a 'Hot Shot' now.
Prisons have wild horse training programs, and its wonderful. Same with dog training programs. My son adopted a Puppy On Parole, and loved that dog.
Programs like this give them a Trade, and it boosts their morale and confidence considerably. It gives them something to look forward to.
Training programs have shown that the recidivism rate goes down.
I believe strongly the firefighters deserve better pay though, because they are literally putting their lives on the line to help others.
They should be paid more than law enforcement, for sure..
@ Kimber A lot of them are making hundreds of thousands. Meanwhile these prisoners are getting about $5 a day doing the same job.
I believe if they are paid more, it could really help with the LA fires, because more inmates would be willing to do this program.
@@mamacitabambi3558 I don't know the rules so correct me if you know differently, it's not just pay that prevents people joining. I understand that no adult violent offenders are included, and I assume there are other criteria they have to meet before they can choose to join the program.
The incarcerated wildland firefighters program is beautiful!!! I love it !!! I met some in Idaho at the wapiti fire last summer !!
What an amazing program! So proud of everybody involved. It’s a win-win for all. we need more programs like this for people, trying to turn their lives around. What a great option for a second chance at life.
All firefighiters are Heroes 💪 ! God bless them 🙏.
His face lit up to be acknowledged he helped start this program! Thank you ! “A modern day Harriet Tubman.”
yes you can see how it changed his life.
I love this program! Just cause you go to jail doesn't mean you should never have a career again
What an uplifting story - thank you !😊
Except they get paid 1$ a hour
Thank you to all you Firefighters and First Responders! 💟
comes to show that rehabilitating > punishment
If you really want someone to stop what theyre doing; give em an alternative. Give em pride in being part of something
Poverty is the #1 cause of crime. Always best to give an alternitive.
No it's not poverty...I know many poor people who don't commit any crimes.
Brokenness in the heart and mind is what leads to crime.
Be well and be at peace.
@@dz7a756 not counting trafficlaws; the vast majority of laws is in place to protect private property.
Obviously thats for a reason.. to protect vs theft.
But people who have enough rarely steal. ie people whos well off statisticly commits crime less frequent, ie crimes is commited by poor people.
And why is that?? because they dont have what they need
@@martinwinther6013 That is totally false. Read more crime statistics. Poverty has no direct connection to crime. Criminals come from broken homes, single parent households and in many situations have been abused mentally and/or physically.
@@martinwinther6013 that's a lie, because california politicians are in a scandal for stealing a billion dollars. You had the NYC mayor getting caught taking underground money from turkey. Do they not have enough 🤔
What a gift Chief Ramey is!
Thank you, sir!!! Good for you, and all the people learning such a valueable skill!!!
Thank ful For All The Inmates ,,Who Are Helping Such A hard Task For all Involved To Fight The Fires , Prayers For protection ,,💙💪🙏
Rehabilitation back into society: What is there to not like about it?
Risking their own lives to make a better return back to society is amazing
The victims and the families of their crimes?
@@hs342 Convicts for violent crimes are not eligible; most of them are in for theft or financial crimes.
@@hs342that’s how ignorant you are 😂all these inmates are non violent offenders do your homework before you make ignorant comments
@@hs342the prisoner who are firefighters have 8 years or less on their sentence, i’m sure you’ll live 😂
I FRICKING love this! ❤
We know
Great idea and program 👍
Thank you very much Chief Ramey, you’re a great man. and ESPECIALLY thanks to your crews.
Awsome idea ❤ God bless you all 🙏
My son is a Captain of the US Forest Service. He has experience in rehab and a second chance at life 💚 Stop the negative energy that comes with being an inmate. My son has told me, that most of guys are better workers and dedicated and no complaints. My son is a God fearing man who was raised in the Bible teaching.
Congrats to you and your son. Your right.
Tell ur son to hire felons and these former inmates that get released from prison that are in fire camps in the CDCR then!
@@juanitaisamiller4142 I Being "God fearing" does not = Good human.
Love, kindness, intelligence, make a good human.
☮ to you and your son
Time to reopen prison Fire Camps for those eligible. I am a former prison fire fighter from a California Conservation Camp. They work and help communities.
keep them open year round doing brush clearance,
What a wonderful program Royal pioneered
God bless this man for starting this program. I’ll bet many of these firefighters continue on the right path. I think it is an excellent idea!
Let’s hope they don’t fall back into criminality when release because no want to hire them
I was thinking about them in my prayers this early morning it’s called *”Fire Camp”* ❤️🙏🏿
My kids father was there in the late 90s and now my nephew is there. Both wanted to go help ❤
Best news I’ve heard in days about California ❤❤ Thank you and stay strong California!
Would be good to have a program that cleans the forest floor to help avoid such a disaster of this magnitude.
Us Californians just recently voted to keep this program going. It won by a big margin. What's not to like about it?
Amazing work!
This is a great program, so good to hear about it.
So glad to hear this
Great work. God is always good to anyone who wants to change.
Thank you for this report. I cannot be alone in feeling that punitive actions are extremely limited and after a very short time are useless. Please report more stories about this....and RESPECT TO THOSE FIGHTING THE FIRES
What a wonderful Program!!!!
I am blown away buy everyone helping, coolest thing i have ever seen
This is incredibly insane.....but also humbing to know that they want to help fight these fires 🔥 more power to them! God Bless!
Awesome program 👏.
I think it’s great they have this type of program to those unfortunate that are in prison
Not that I'm complaining, but I was under the impression none of them were allowed to become firefighters. I remember because how much it pissed me off.
I guess desperation forced the rules to change
I heard that too.
@@monilaninetynine3811the fact that it takes somethin like this to make that happen.....🙄😮💨
Private companies hire firefighters (i.e. Chemical plants)
@@gordonmccracken1209 hopfully not still true, but they did not count as such.
Such a great program!
Dear , thank you for answering my prayers 💕😘😘😘😘🙏🙌
Amazing chief and program. Thanks for sharing posting.
Ironic isn't it. These same brave men will be denied employment based on frivolous background checks.
But Trump can become president of the United States as a felon, so ridiculous and backwards
Big THANKS to Canada and Mexico for helping out!!
Thank you, Canada...
Thank for creating such an amazing program and giving a carrier opportunity to people who want to redeem themselves Thank you Chief Royal Ramey! God bless you and all your graduates from your program.
Thanks for your service 💙🙏🇺🇸
Thank you, this is a good program! People who are serving their sentences in jail while reforming themselves, they already making a big difference in the community!
Proud of you guys. Thank you so much n thanks to your chief. Proud of you. Way to go bro
Thank you to all the first responders ❤❤❤
Thank you all. God bless
God Bless You All
❤️🙏🏻
These are wonderful people! I’m so grateful to them!🙏❤
Sometimes one finds themselves in deep trouble that changes the course of their lives and after they are locked up, they wake up and are sorry and want to do better. i hope they all realize their path may be tough but through hard work it can change when trust is restored
Im pretty sure they are proud of themselves. Good job and thank you so much for serving and saving lives!
Great Program sir👏🏽💯💯💯
They train hard for this, thank you !!!
Help them get jobs when they’re out. If this isn’t proving yourself, what is?!
Great now we have to worry about our home being burglarized when they are released and become firefighters.
Stay Safe All.
So messed up Lord please keep them safe
Thank you!
Why wait to use people who are incarcerated? Create programs so people don't go to prison in the first place! Oh yes, I forgot that isn't profitable. 😂. Instead, pay them 10 dollars a day as forced labor. 🙄
Good bless those man's ❤
I was in Nevada prison and worked on a crew when it wasn't fire season we would pick trash off of the side of the road. Shovel snow at different senior communities and other stuff. It did give me a good feeling to help and I believe it made me a better person as far as the low wages if you had extra money to buy stuff from the store it was cool because you could depend on yourself instead of asking people on the streets
Good job y’all. Thank you
Excellent opportunity- to each of them, thanks for their courage in selecting this as a career-it is only a select few that can step up!❤
Glad to see these people getting a second chance, sometimes that's all a person needs!
The real life firecountry show ❤️💯🇺🇲
From great negative comes tremendous positive here. Thanks so much to all of you for all you do. You are making a big difference, saving lives and livlihoods. Praise be to God and may He guide each of you to Christ, and keep you there wirh Him. ❤
Thank you Thank you Thank you!
Yes, Chief!
he's a young man, good for him; paying it forward. this is what reform should look like
I can smell a big blockbuster movie out of this.
All profits back to the fire survivors
RESPECT TO CHIEF ROYAL RAMEY
Great video glad the prisoners are getting the coverage they need
I love to hear the news promote positive news. The world is filled with darkness, but you can find a bit of light when you seek it.
A second chance of turning your lives around❤😊
They need to get paid a higher wage and free health insurance.
There are arguments both ways. End of the day people who are in prison are getting an opportunity to get a career path.
They will once they’re out of prison and they get a job with a firehouse.
Hell no! They are paying their dues to society, not on vacation as free men.
They already get free healthcare on the tax payers’s dime.
I'm pretty sure inmates get free healthcare.
Shout out to Mexico and Canada thanks for all your help
That's sweet. I love this.
Amazing!
This is an awesome program! Thank God that these men have received a second chance. ❤
Good. All cities should find ways for the carcerated to work. This is the first smart thing I have heard CA do.
Thank Kim Kardashian for acknowledging these incarcerated firefighters helping they never get acknowledged and yes they are serving time for crimes they still are losing their lives and working thru this to show they are changed. ❤
This is a great opportunity for redemption. Isn’t it amazing how as humans we can re-invent ourselves? By God’s grace, he gives us the opportunity to turn from evil to God’s good. Repentance is so rewarding… ✨☺️🙏🏻
Some of them may have been wrongly incarcerated. They do death sentence innocents in this country. I'm not celebrating.
Awesome program
Respect 🫡
Awesomeness 👏🏼❤❤❤
😮Awesome 😮
That is amazing!
awesome !
important to hold people accountable but equally important to give them new pathways to new lives after serving time
Netflix " Fire Country" in real life. God Bless all the Fire Fighters and First Responders.
Love to see it great segment! Go LAFD 🎉
Is Jesus work 🙏♥️🤍💙
No, people work. People helping each other.
May all these men have a brighter future, big thank you.
