So much yearning in this song . The melody and the lyrics combine to give us the feeling of her intense longing for love in her life . Which she certainly has now with Travis Kelce !
This half of the anthology includes a lot of references to Greek mythology, which often includes prophecies. Sysiphus was doomed to roll boulders up a hill (“thanK you aIMee”), Cassandra could prophesy/see the future but nobody believed her, etc. I also read in a BBC article that this song is a lot like the Greek poet Sappho’s poem Ode to Aphrodite (the goddess of love).
Yes! I love interpreting her lyrics and associating them with poetry, numerology, greek mythology, spirituality. I'm obsessed with her lyric videos 🤍 Willow has greek mythology references as well. As I'm listening, I just thought about that bust sculpture in the TTPD library. I have notes about it at home, but I'm pulled over on the side of the road typing this 😂😂 Will add your correlations to my notes, thank you!!
Love this song! The layering of the vocals contribute to the hollow feeling of the song. Very soulful and it sits like lead in the stomach, while also having this almost desperate hopeful feel too. So sad and full of dispair, but also holding tight to the elusive hope that something can still happen.
i enjoy the anthology as well. which made me realize i like dessners production with taylor. his production sounds so simple in my ears yet satisfying.
Have you reacted to so long london? Its a very interesting song musically… very un-taylor swift that caught my attention and now i have listened to the whole album (ive never listened to her before)
I am commenting #BringBackDislikes on every unique TH-cam video that I watch for the rest of 2024, regardless of if I actually dislike the video or not. This is video 1168.
This is definitely one of my favorites. I agree that the B side is better. I’m not a bubble gum pop fan though so it makes sense that I like the more singer-songwriter style & songs. I have never been a Swiftie and never cared for much of her music, but I really love some of these songs. The Prophecy, Peter, loml, etc have sort of made me change my mind about her a little bit.
Glad you had fun listening to this one it’s one of my favorite of hers in any album. Just a vulnerable beautiful song

"Daylight" alludes to Platonic allegory.
I love this one - Jack is great for making Taylor's radio worthy/ more mainstream collective stuff, but Aaron Dessner's production is more my vibe
Agree 100%! Exile will forever be one of my favorites!
This lyrics are poetry!!!!!
I love this song so much! All of it! Vocals, lyrics, instrumental, production.
This is lowkey one of my faves on the album
Greige means grey and beige
In the textile manufacturing industry, griege is also fairly unprocessed fabric before it is set in any dyes or colours or print 😊
Nice! Fits TTPD palette perfectly!
You should definitely react to Folklore and Evermore, lots of Aaron and Taylor there!

Greige is a color that is midway between grey and beige.
And low notes? Try Carolina, the song she wrote for the movie Where the Crawdads Sing. You will like it

My fav
Run-on sentence flow is often seen in Biblical hymns too. Might've been intentional - seeing she's on her knees, praying "Please."
If you haven't, try Cornelia Street and Death by a Thousand Cuts, both acoustic, from Live in Paris. Fantastic
Great reaction!✅👍🏼
