This was one of the best years at Roosevelt. Now it's just ghetto there. And it was really nice of that teacher to remove the mustard from the ground so the dancers don't step on it. I was there on the right side beside the camera person.
@g0rg30usp33p Have you heard of square dancing? If the singer says "swing your partner round and round" and you just do your own thing, does that make sense. This type of song is almost like "Simon says" type of song. It's the cultural history behind it. It is called Lam Salavan because it was developed in the Salavan Province of Laos. Of course the Lao in Isan (Thailand) sings this too. You should have picked a different song if you just want to dance whatever.
Seriously? These Lao people are not here to "hate" on you. They are simply telling you that this is a traditional Laotian dance and there is a certain way to present it. Or I should say, an HONORABLE way. If you disagree so badly, you had NO right to bash on Lao people. I am proudly Lao and you clearly disrespected my culture. Am I dark? No. Am I smelly? No. Am I dirty? No. Are we here to fight with you? No. If you're going to use another culture's tradition, use it right or AT LEAST respect it.
Khmers culture have a long history but lao people have our culture too , saravanh its a country from laos and this song was in lao language!!So we had our culture too!!!
it's the same but they have a dark pretty gold instead of the torquoise and i decided to use the actual metal belt to hold up the bottom. they're not on youtube but i can send a picture.
@MsJello100 It's hard to explain but how we do our pants are very uncomfortable..How we're taught to do it is sow a dress that goes all the wayy to your ankle..it'll work..then you grab the back of the dress && pull it forward between your legs && up. You'll then pin in down in the middle...HAHA.sounds weird right?? i don't think you got it but just comment back so i can do a video demo. :))
@g0rg30usp33p, Here's where you get us Lao people messed up. For one, we are not judging you. We are INFORMING you. I'm sure that you weren't even aware that this was a traditional dance before anyone INFORMED you. No one would have trash talked you if you didn't boast about how your culture was so much better than ours, when you took our tradition and changed it completely. Don't get irrelevant with the points that I made. If you had RESPECTED our culture, then no one would trip!
@Clummsyy96 Well..i posted the song titles on the side of the video so go check it out again..you keep commenting this thai dance && ignoring the hippop video..IT'S TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE VIDEO!! :))
@Pa2998 LOL wow it's so funny how you have so much time to go thru all the comments just to prove something, but incorrectly, i never said the lyrics are stupid. That girl whoever she is said that we're dumb to not follow what the lyrics are saying. & honestly i don't even care about what the salvanh province is & its purpose but of course, Hmong people ARE creative so thanks for the comment & come again! :)
The on ehh uhh The hippop one..I guess.. And I'm doing a dance that has the same lyrics, But different beat/sound. I'll post it to you when I have my school conscert
I think you came off a little bit too strong; I can understand that what the performers have done: clothing and its usage, is incorrect but you could have simply corrected them and have said, "oh, I love how the performers are incorporating our clothing but I think they have chosen the wrong song/ (or) but I think that they not displayed our clothing well because the tail is suppose to be tied at the back." Also, every culture is proud of itself and will get defensive, don't get me wrong.
where among these comments do you see anyone quick to call your culture out in a negative way from the get-go? I myself have not even dissed on your culture, yet you are quick to jump at any chance to talk about my culture as if it's a disgrace. I'm above discrimination. No hate goes towards you as long as you don't hate, either. That's all I and the rest of my people are telling you. No one predominantly cares about hating on you. We're just setting the record straight.
@DonnieJohnie Okay now do you see the similarity between you & these other Lao people now? You got butt-hurted cause i was bashing on ya right? Same thing happened to me. Don't be offended that we use the song to dance. Don't HATE. APPRECIATE. For some reasons ya folks are just too critical at judging others that you guys forgot that we at least consider your songs to dance with. Unlike you guys who can't even do other cultural dances instead of Laotian. Again, STOP HATING.
@g0rg30usp33p One more thing. I'm sick and tire of people dancing to something they have no knowledge or even understands the song. These are usually the non-Lao people who uses Lao song and think it's all the same.
@laolanxang Ohh..my bad if you're too jealous that we can dance && you can't..not even to your own language..but i'm sure that Hmong ppl are the MOST CREATIVE humans on Earth..we know how to coordinate && come up with BEAUTIFUL DANCE MOVES to all kind of music && languages && we still don't HATE..thank you for watching.. :))
I don't think these dancers know what the song is about. When the song commands them to "go low" they didn't do it or when the song says "get up." The song instructs the dancers to do certain thing and they totally ignored it. Ruins the whole song/dance.
@DonnieJohnie Even so, you still couldn't the story straight? Go view comments from zinfandel09 & stop blaming things on me for defending myself & my culture. i would have never start shit if ya people can keep your HATE comments to yourselves. Above all, you should understand that i am proud of my culture & dances too. You guys are the one who can't keep your mouths shut for once, discriminating our styles of dances. Trust me, you would be offended if you're in my shoes but apparently ur not.
@g0rg30usp33p geessh sorry to involve, but to Pa2998, its just a dance and just get over it. And especially it just for the school new year so i don't know why your tripping. they did a great job.
@laolanxang OMG are you DEAF?? are you BLIND?? Don't you see we too, have our own Hmong music && we do dance to it?? Stop being so JEALOUS gosh..damn..you are just too jealous what we have && you don't..Now GET OFF MY PROFILE!!

@g0rg30usp33p If you are so creative, why are you using Lao song and dance? Why can't you come up with your own? Why do you copy other people then?
Uhhh Huh..
I got it....
I love the dance by the way.
