Hello thanks for the information . If I have both dad and mom married and also I have a legal guardian. Who’s information do I add on css profile . Do I list the 3 as parents ?
Thanks for your question! If a student has a legal guardian, the student should list the legal guardian’s information in the parent section on the CSS Profile. However colleges could come back to the student and also ask for details about the parents.
@@kareninoue You may not need to complete the CSS Profile for subsequent years. So on the day you complete the Profile, answer the questions accurately. If you are required to complete the CSS Profile next year for the college you attend, you should answer the questions accurately and then leave a note in the Special Circumstances section letting the financial aid office know that your legal guardianship has ended.
If I applied to both a school that does require noncustodial parent info and one that doesn't, is it possible to send that information to just the one that does require it? Or do I have to send it to both.
Thank you for your question! The noncustodial parent would just send his/her CSS Profile to the school requiring it. And the other school would not need to receive it! Reach out if you have more questions here, collegeplanning@mefa.org, or (800) 449-6332.
Hi there! We'd like to help but need some more details about your question. If you'd like, you can give us a call at (800) 449-6332 or send us an email at collegeplanning@mefa.org and someone can help!
The CSS Profile will ask specific questions that will help you convey your situation. If colleges need more information, they may request you to write a letter explaining the details. They will let you know if you need to do that, and anything else you need to provide.
Listen to MEFA, but will also add that “estrangement” or no contact for a period of (ten?) years is 1 of the 2 years reasons to not include financial info from both parents. Other factor is parent is serving time👮🏻🚔 You definitely qualify for a waver if your father has never been in your life and you are college age (also, that sucks for him, not you!!) Talk to your guidance department. They will help you navigate. Good luck and don’t take no for an answer when you are making your life better 😘💖💫 Shaky starts can finish strong 💪 😇

The other parent can send the information just to the school(s) that require it.
If I have never had one parent(father)in my life, what do I need to prove that.
