I was so sad when I saw the fire burned that section between the Kern Hot Springs and Junction Meadow. It was so nice and cool. Although some of the gazillion stream crossings were a bit of a challenge with all the snow melt. I plan to stay at Junction Meadow the next time I hike the HST because the grind up to Wallace Creek just about broke me. It was so hot that day and there wasn’t any breeze. I thought numerous times about heaving my pack off the trail. The throbbing ankle didn’t help my attitude much. LOL! You did an amazing job capturing the beauty of this trail. Congrats on your thru-hike!
oddly enough I've also seen a person carrying a guitar hiking the high sierra trail between Hamilton and bearpaw. I was completing a big loop in the park. lakes trail to pear lake offtrail up the marble fork through the tablelands over pterodactyl pass up to lonely lake up over horn cole over to Elizabeth pass down to tamarack lake Hamilton lakes out via crescent meadows. the fishing at tamarack lake is incredible.
@@RolandLabana it was August 2022. it was a young guy. i talk to 99% of the people I come across and I would have remembered you guys. great video. can hardly wait for summer!!
Well done , guys. Wonderful video. I am thinking about applying for a permit to do this trail in the summer of 2023. I did the JMT in 2018. I'm now 68 years old and still seeking adventure. Happy trails!
Great video, gives a good feel for the trail conditions. I never caught the date of your hike. Wondering if you got caught in the same heavy rain I was in at the end of June near Reds.
Thanks Rob! Good point, I should have added the dates of the trip. We hiked from Jul 8 to Jul 14. Not sure if they were the same rains you hit, but as you could see, we got pummeled at times! I loved it though to help keep cool!
@@robbrandtBSA So I thought to check out your channel for hiking videos and what do I find ...? A playlist of the greatest band ever and what would have been the greatest album ever if completed! - Yeeeaaaaahhhhh!
Thanks for watching. I do think so. There are plenty of people on this trail and you're bound to meet some kind folks along the way. People watch out for each other. That said, prolly always best to try to find a partner.
I’m jealous - it looks beautiful!
Thanks for watching. Hope you saw part 1 too! 😀😀😀

Awesome Charles! Hope you do the trip! You'll love it!
you can get permits much easier for this than Yosemite. even walk up permits are easy to get in sequoia. August is a good month.
Sweet video! Thanks you for sharing your journey with us. it looked like you had a truly memorable trek.
Thanks for watching. It is truly an experience. Highly recommend this trail for sights per mile!
Awesome
Hi Roland, thanks for making these videos. It lets us relive the trip. Tom
Hi Tom! Was great to meet you on the trail! Happy hiking!
I love this video 1 and 2 well explained with the trip details, congratulations guys. We are doing this in June 2022.
Thx! Loved the trail so much we are doing it again in June too! Or at least part of it. Bringing some other friends this time. Have a great trip!!
Did you end up doing this trail this year!?
Best HST video I’ve seen. I hiked it the same summer as you guys - zero rain but pretty bad smoke.
Thanks Christopher! I think the rain actually saved my life!
What transportation did you use from Whitney portal to the museum to pick up your permits
Hi James! We used Trent from Three Rivers Transportation. He is fabulous! @facebook.com/TRTDS/
What time of year? I hiked the trail in 2018 don’t remember rain while hiking it was august
This was the first week of July. I loved the cooling rain!

@@RolandLabana Nope, we got about 3 inches in 3 hours on June 29. But that was probably 100 miles north of you.

@@RolandLabana There are rumors he's still working on it. Maybe something remastered or revised...

Hiii! Do you think the HST is safe for solo female hikers?
