As an aviation enthusiasm, it's quite Interesting to see Air India has been developed with privatization under Tata Group. We have to wait and see about Air India with new interior cabin and services. Hopefully in my country, one day Malaysia Airlines should be privatize as well like Air India does.
Sad to see the iconic livery around the windows being done away with. They could have retained that at least. The design was unique and one of the few endearing features of the old Air India.
The tail is beautiful, it looks like a sari. The palace window design were beautiful. The huge jet orders that Indian carriers have worries me about overcapacity in near future.
It’s really sad to see what’s happening to the new liveries. All planes are becoming intirely white with infant letters, finishing with mediocre logos in the belly and rudder.

I do not know the design and aircraft jargon, but the old design on the tail of Air India was very elegant, beautiful and impressive. That should have been retained. First time ever something TATA have done that I think, is absolutely regretable and should be changed back to the old tail design.

Change is the universal law of nature. One should not be a prisoner of past bcoz past is history. In my opinion, the new livery is very good as it reflects the quest for changing the airline in toto. We can expect changes in the livery in the coming decades also. No airline has retained its livery for over a half century. If we retain the old livery it would be a shame.

I will hasten to add that somewhere in 1989-90, Air India changed its livery designed by John Landor & Associates. It was a very good move then. The leitmotif of theme that set Air India apart from the original livery was "Grace of East and Pace of West". Hope you understand.

The typeface and logo leave much to be desired. Vistara's tail design was more appealing. While people might eventually become accustomed to it, the current livery is far from practical. The bright, glossy gold & red color is likely to fade rapidly. Moreover, the style and colors (combination of red, gold, and purple) do not reflect Indian culture, whether modern or traditional. Disappointing move by the Tatas.

The CGI renders make the livery look awful, the actual colours are much nicer. The burgundy is actually burgundy and not the gross orange pink colour in the videos.
Even changing the color or logo makes any difference, why they have a low price Carrier called air India Express, that running on the Gulf sector most of the day always have a breakdown in Gulf sector poor the low income people flying on Gulf sector suffers some time more than 36-48 hours to fix the issue and Air India people never informed customers what's wrong with it and provide any accommodations at all. The old livery looked like something out of the 1970s and 1980s and needed an upgrade. But now it's a corporate livery, rather than a national airline livery, that went too far away from Indian identity in my opinion. Just like IAG taking away the classic green (that used to have a blue stripe) Aer Lingus livery instead of modernising it. It's a pity nations are losing their national airlines to corporations, especially when the airlines lose their identity even if they keep the name.

The old livery may not be the most beautiful one, but it’s iconic, it’s extremely detailed, you know it’s an Air India just looking for it’s plane’s windows. It may be the most unique livery in aviation history. The new livery is more of the same, it’s boring, the colours are bad chosen, not different from a cheap IndiGo livery.
Nothing unique about the logo, we have seen this all before. Obviously it's much better than the previous one which screamed 1980's but it's gonna take them years to convince the world it's a safe, high standard airline, at the moment they have no chance to compete against Emirates, Qatar, Singapore and Etihad. They would have to offer lower fares for people to choose Air India instead of any of the Middle Eastern airlines, or other international airlines offering direct routes in/out of India. It's a good start, but the fundamentals need to be strong too, it's not good enough to put lipstick on a pig. Hope they succeed, the more competition the better.
I’m really not happy with this livery! It looks cheap, poorly conceived and a very very expensive waste of money to “rebrand” the airline especially with a Vistara merger coming soon and a brand new fleet incoming! 😂 😡 For an airline with financial woes I’m shocked they’d spend all that money 💵 to rebrand (only upside is no Hindi on the name anymore) however they made the airline look awfully like a low cost or budget carrier not a fabulous new full service excellent carrier of the future! I also miss seeing no more classic Indian “Jaroka” design pattern around the windows! I wish they’d added a classic new look because I do believe Air India’s livery and design needed an overhaul but not a low cost crappy look and feel! Not Great! 🤢 I’d also like to see Air India fix that livery underneath and I wish they’d add a classic cheat line like Air India! Agreed that it’s a shame to see it go. If I recall correctly from their 747-200s, there was also a distinctive interior treatment.
