The Shadow Dragon - Inner Journey Meditation (15 minute daily)

Journey beneath the waves... Journey into the unconscious self... What will you find there?

This music a remix of the original version I composed for a play titled "Urashima Tarō and the Shadow Dragon," about a young man from a Japanese fishing village long, long ago, who had a debilitating fear of the water because he lost his father to the sea. A fear so strong he could not go out on the fishing boats and had to fish from the shore. One day he saved a giant turtle from a group of children who were tormenting it, and as you will see, the turtle later returns the favor.
As fate goes, out of necessity, Urashima must eventually go out in a boat to fish for his family. And of course, the boat overturns in a storm. As our young protagonist is sinking into the depths the old turtle appears and leads him to a underwater world filled with fascinations and wonders. But also, at the heart of the underwater world, there lies the Palace of the Shadow Dragon.
In the play, which was a variation on the original Japanese story, he fears the water because it is the unconscious self, but by journeying there he empowers himself as he overcomes his fear of the underwater world, and eventually he is faced with the Shadow Dragon (his greatest fear) and though he cannot completely destroy the dragon, he overpowers it and the dragon loses power over young Urashima, thus freeing the youth from the chains of his fears. In the original story, Urashima Tarō spends three days in the underwater world, but when he returns to his village, 300 years have passed.

I saw your post earlier drawing attention to this archive and I am so glad I did!! This is so impressive. It is also very nostalgic for me. My favorite movie growing up was Legend; Tangerine Dream created the soundtrack for it and this is so reminiscent of the theme they chose. The "whale" sounds and "under" were used as the call of the unicorns in the soundtrack. I love this one and I'm adding it to my playlist. Again, thank you
