Driving & Details Of The Very Rare 1994 BMW CSI! (1 of 225 for North America!)

Calling all BMW enthusiasts and collectors, this particular model shown here is one that you may need to add to your garage! Currently being offered for sale via @luxsportmotorgroup is this fantastic example of a 1994 BMW 850 CSi (Coupe Sport Injection) finished in a color known as ‘Jet Black’ over a ‘Lotus White & Black’ interior. This BMW 850 CSI is considered to be part of the 1st-generation of BMW 8-Series cars known as the ‘E31’ series. BMW built the E31 8-Series BMW from 1990-1999, and the design work was taken care of by Klaus Kapitza. A myriad of different transmission and engine options were made available during this generation throughout all of the different variants that were built. Options include a 4.0 L M60B40 V8, a 4.4 L M62B44 V8, a 5.0 L M70B50 V12, a 5.4 L M73B54 V12, or finally, a 5.6 L S70B56 V12. The production totals for each model include 4,728 examples of the 840i / 840Ci with the M60 engine, 3,075 examples of the 840Ci / 840Ci with the M62 engine, 20,072 examples of the 850i / 850Ci with the M70 engine, 1,218 examples of the 850i / 850Ci with the M73 engine, and finally, 1,510 examples of the 850CSi, which is shown here. Of that number of total 850CSis built, it’s believed that this car shown here is 1 of just 225 produced for North America. The 850CSi was first shown to the world during the 1991 Frankfurt International Motor Show, and was a homage to the first BMW to carry the ‘CSi’ label, the 1971 E9 3.0 Coupe. The 850CSi was a top-of-the-range variant for the E31 8-series, and underneath the hood you’ll find a 5,576 cc (5.6 L) V12 S70B56 engine with Bosch Motronic 1.7 fuel injection, and power increase to 375 hp at 5,300 rpm. The CSi, in comparison to standard E31 cars, features a modified suspension, stiffer springs and dampers, reshaped front and rear bumpers, and much more. This example shows just approximately 36,772 miles on the odometer and has its all original paint, panels, engine, transmission, wheels and interior, the same exact way it came from the factory.
