So great to see the love, joy, enrichment, stimulation, confidence, bond and so much more a Malinois like Arih gets out of quality training like this. Easy to see how advanced she is in how she picks everything up so quickly. Very important for this type of seriously high energy breed to keep their bodies and minds so active.❤
Love this clear break down. My boy definitely offers 'tries' at other positive behaviours so sweet to watch your girl do the same. Thanks for a great demonstration.
I agree completely. So many content creators follow their comments for just the first few hours, or some even for the first day, and then never reply or react to any later comments so I presume they aren't reading them. Maybe they're creating so many videos and getting so many comments that they cannot interact with their followers. If so, that's great for them. But it is always great when a content creator responds to anything just to show he's still reading. Then, if he chooses to not respond to our post (my post) then I assume it was that he didn't have that answer or the question wasn't interesting to him - and that's his choice. Just seeing and knowing that he's reading them means I might get my questions replied to - if I do my part to make them interesting enough for his channel.
I absolutely LOVE this dog!!! I can tell she is incredibly smart!!! You always make it look so easy lol I know my training won't go this well lol I Love your videos tho you are very informative and when I'm ready to train my puppy something new I come to you because I trust you're gonna teach me the best way!!!! Great job to both you and your dog, it is really lovely to see a dog perform with confidence and enthusiasm. I think this is a great way to train and your timing to mark Ari's behaviour is so important and often missed. We want to mark when the dog is going into rather than pulling out and you showed that so clearly. Thank your for a great little video. :-)
Hi Thanks for inspiring me to include nosework to enrich my training. I have a very nervous and easily frustrated client(dog student) who will really benefit from my changing things up and taking emphasis away from his desensitization /counter-conditioning work. Excellent videos!
I have a malinois. And would love to give her job besides only play. These techniques are so helpful. She already understands "free" so we have our marker. 👍
Your videos have been so helpful. I have watched every single one. I am getting a German shepherd puppy at the end of the month and I am so excited to start shaping her into an amazing dog. Now I am practicing timing and markers. Thank you for making comprehensive videos!

This video has been out a while now but wow so informative and inspiring to see how this works. I’ve decided now that my gsd’s are getting near to 10 it’s time to calm down on some of the running and jumping to avoid injuries and scent work looks like a wonderful new project. Thanks for the great info and I look forward to watching more and going down this road for sure
Love these videos! We are finally getting around to teaching my coonhound scentwork with these! We are on day 4 now, and one thing we are struggling with is the dog occasionally overlooking the scent. This is happening mostly on our first few searches. We are using birch odor in an odor tin and doing some work outdoors and some indoors. The boxes became far too easy for him - he wouldn't sniff each one but as soon as entering the room, he would run directly to the correct container with odor. So we are doing field searches at this point!
Thanks so much for this video--it looks simple for me to follow the steps. I have neuro/memorydifficulties and so I appreciate the small steps, clearly shown. I'm trying to self-train a service dog for mobility assist on very long distance walking/biking adventures, and as he is a 2 year old Coonhound I think scent detection will give him a great outlet for using his greatest asset and joy, his NOSE!!! for fun, exercise, and to learn to focus. An opportunity to sniff, whether it is searching for a handful of scattered treats, or following some scent usually unknown to me, really seems to end with a relaxed, happy fellow
I’ve heard stories about training coonhounds… you might have your work cut out for you! Or maybe not, I have a couch potato of a border collie so there are always exceptions to the rule. Best of luck!
I see so the green bench in my opinion is similar to the police cruiser and they are simply understanding jump out the cruiser grab the scent and pursue. Very interesting

Hahaha! It is a pain to cover the cinder blocks in duck tape, but yes, it gets the dog accustomed to sticking their noses into different containers and helps generalize the dog to the training. This makes it easier for the dog when we transfer them to real life style searches, such as building and vehicle searches. I also use tubes when training, but I thought three examples were enough. :)

Nate, I have seen in a few of your videos that you will use both a break and a free command. This video is a good example. I am really new to dog training and your videos have been a great help but I am having trouble finding the distinction between the 2 commands anywhere. Is there one or are you just using them as variations of the same thing(terminal marker)? If there is a distinction what is it and how do you train for one over the other? I watched your video on terminal marker vs. continuation marker but there is no mention of a release marker in that video which is what believe I have heard you call the free command.

Thanks for subbing! Let me know how the training goes!
Hey Anthony! Great question! Jump to 39 minutes into this video. I think I explain it a little better there: th-cam.com/video/3lBJFcWiAzk/w-d-xo.html
Awesomest girl. Nate you are a magician :D
Thank you so much. She's my super dog. :)
What a smart girl! What training treats would you recommend please? I have a 2 year old Jack Russell
Hi! Curious about the use of a platform - does the elevated surface make a difference? Or can this be done without a platform and just a fixed area like a blanket or towel?
I didn’t understand the yes vs free command. Free=treats? Yes-you did it right & im proud of you?
Yes = Reward
Free = Release and Reward
Great Videos 👍👍👍
Thanks! I really appreciate that! 😁🐶
Awesome!!!!!!!! :D
Thanks! 😄
love your videos
Do you have a video on essential oils used and dilute used? Thank you
