the reason why people claim that she's a bad singer is that they're comparing her to singers like ariana and demi. but the issue with that is that all 3 have different singing styles. ariana has a powerful and smooth voice, demi has a powerful strong voice, and selena has a soft and smooth voice. they can't be compared because their voices are nowhere near the same. in the past few years selena has actually improved a bunch in her singing. she's not powerful but her tone is great. not all good singers have loud belting voices.

One of my favourite things about this cover is that Selena didn't change the originally pronouns in the song. Some people change the pronouns to better fit them (a guy singing about a girl, then a girl singing the cover and changing she/her to he/him or vise versa) and though it may be a preference to them, I like it better when they leave it how it was originally.

She tries really really hard, but, as an actress, she looks cool with it and relaxed. I remember one of my teachers saying something similar about Ryan Seacrest. (Just to clarify, I think Selena has talent as an actress. I'm not saying she has absolutely no talent.) This was back in maybe 2007 so Ryan has gone on to do more since then. He said Ryan has no identifiable talent. You can't say he's good at x or y. Still, he's an influential person in the industry with more longevity than most because he works so hard. He was one of the highest paid television hosts. Being an AI host doesn't require much more than a decent face, people skills, and public speaking skills but he was able to turn that into an empire. As a singer, I can immediately feel her uncomfort-ness...I can't just feel her insecure vibe. One of my favourite things about this cover is that Selena didn't change the originally pronouns in the song. Some people change the pronouns to better fit them (a guy singing about a girl, then a girl singing the cover and changing she/her to he/him or vise versa) and though it may be a preference to them, I like it better when they leave it how it was originally.

I remember one of my teachers saying something similar about Ryan Seacrest. (Just to clarify, I think Selena has talent as an actress. I'm not saying she has absolutely no talent.) This was back in maybe 2007 so Ryan has gone on to do more since then. He said Ryan has no identifiable talent. You can't say he's good at x or y. Still, he's an influential person in the industry with more longevity than most because he works so hard. He was one of the highest paid television hosts. Being an AI host doesn't require much more than a decent face, people skills, and public speaking skills but he was able to turn that into an empire. Basically, even if the cards are stacked against you, you can get pretty far if you don't stop trying.

As a singer, I can immediately feel her uncomfort-ness...I can't just feel her insecure vibe. It's like she can't move or be herself bc she has to focus super hard to hit notes...that's not what singing is about. I look at her Instagram and when she post a video of her singing she sounds amazing and when it comes to live she sounds different. sometimes its the nerves and she afraid of singing in live television or in a radio station where she knows that performance will never go and that it will be put on TH-cam or shared on social media but when she posts a video on Instagram she can delete any time. she has lupus which means she cant sing high or long notes but she still sings because she loves to sing and her fans loves to hear her sing so I think that Selena has talent and potential to be the best singer she can be.
