I was with Andy through that fight all tho I didn't like this movie as much, but that made me think who should win the round. Tilting a bit on Andys side but it's really close. I agree with Spencer that if the question was good or bad Dan would win, and this way Andy wins.
Yeah that's the big big actual issue with blockbusters, the lazyness of the scripts. I don't why they just don't use a small part of the budget to hire good script writters or script doctors. Even with mandatory things like love story, kids, happy ending etc they could build better stories than we have. Now, future adults will be used to Watch bad things and will consider it as normal.Fun or failure: ok i come one year after the battle too, but this jurassic world was so bad I didn't even have fun during parts supposed to be fun except the pterodactyle part which was finally too short and a bit useless. And of course the first one was not flawless but at list many scenes were great like the one with the fat guy Under the rain (almost every action scene in fact, toilets, car in the tree etc.) and here we have too many digital backgrounds that kept me out of the movies, stupid scenes and characters and a basic B movie plot : they make new "T-Rex" to use has military weapon. OMG that is so stupid! Just imagine them facing plane, tanks or even just soldiers, that's stupid. Unless, of course, if soldiers don't putt bullets in their guns or can't aim like in the movie :D
BDWJ1986 If everyone ran out and saw every movie within the first two days it was released nothing would ever be out for more than a weekend. You DO realize the movie hasn't even been out for a full WEEKEND yet right? Maybe some of us planned on seeing it this afternoon. Maybe some of us had in-laws in town and couldn't find time this weekend. Your attitude is so utterly pointless. If you literally have the time to see every movie the day it comes out, then your life is sad and I certainly don't envy you.
EcllipsE2510 I'm pretty sure most fans would forgive them if they didn't include movies that had literally opened that very weekend. Give it a week at least. As for the scoreboard, that's still a good idea for when you skip around because some topic wasn't so entertaining and you skipped ahead.
BDWJ1986 It came out Thursday.... it's Sunday, some adults have lives (job, wife/girlfriend & kids.) Ya know? I plan to see Jurassic World on Wednesday, when my girlfriend and I have a day off together. Is that unreasonable?
I was kinda upset about the Assistant in Jurassic World getting eaten like that. She spent the whole movie running after 2 dumbass kids and she gets tortured by Dactyl's and eaten because of them? I dont know if it was supposed to be funny or something but it kinda pissed me off.
i thought she was going to live because the water and she did but then i remembered what was in the water so she was screwed SPOILER DONT READ IF YOU HAVNT SEEN THE MOVIE well the mosasaurus killed the indominus rex at the end so hes a cool water mosasaurus and also i loved the fight seen between the indominus rex the t rex and the raptors it was fucking awesome
I think Dan is the only reason I watch these. Like, I do enjoy this series, but the thing is, most of the guys who "fight" have threadbare arguments. Dan seems to be the only one that knows what an argument is, and I wish we could get more people on this show that could do that.
+Tacet Jack the Player Yeah, it always seems like there is only one person like Dan are on each movie fight. I guess that,s why the best ones have celebrities who actually know their shit as much as or more than Dan.
+scotty686 With the exception of Dan, I think Spencer is actually the best at fighting other people's arguments, but sometimes he so focused on that he doesn't give as many points that support his argument. But I've seen him tear down someone's argument so many times and at the beginning of the fight usually!
After seeing this movie, I cannot agree more with Dan. If we are going accept a movie that's just _meh_ then what's the point of filmmaking or film criticism? And the terrible storytelling, the god awful character development, etc drained the enjoyment of the movie for me. I'm probably the only one but I don't find enjoyment in mass Red-Shirt killing (Red Shirts meaning in Star Trek that if you had a red shirt you'd probably die and you didn't get a name or much development) and the action was all of that Red Shirt killing. And the only character I wanted to live was Chris Pratt. The kids, OH MY GOD THE KIDS, made me lose faith in this generation and was patiently waiting for them to be brutally murdered (wow that was dark jeez I'm really mean aren't I?). Claire was a step back in equal gender representation, we've had Furiosa and Katniss and Hermione Granger and then we have this stiff, boring, unlikeable character. I may not have as passionate of a hatred as Dan but it's valid.
This movie was GARBAGE!!! I can't agree with you more. Hated this movie so freak'n much. It's no fun to watch a movie with bland, boring characters get eaten by dinosaurs. If we care about the characters or we know enough about them to want them get eaten, then of course it's fun. This movie doesn't have that. The plot is freak'n stupid, too. It's not smart. It's STUPID. The villain's evil plan is to use the raptors in the field? Literally, that the heck kind of evil plan is that?! The I-Rex. Oh my gosh, the I-Rex. That thing was way too smart to just have raptor DNA in it to do the things it did. And the people were not helpless in this movie. In the first film (and the second and third) the people were HELPLESS! The power didn't go out in this movie. They weren't dealing with sabotage in this movie. There were no storms in this movie. Nothing in this movie worked and that's why it is a HUGE failure.
I'm with you 100% and let's get my smallest complaint out of the way first. I CAN'T STAND JIMMY FALLON! He's the most unfunny man alive and that cameo was so misplaced! The kids sucked I cared nothing about their drama and am I supposed to believe that a 11 and 16 year old are master car mechanics? A jeep that's been sitting and doing nothing for 20 years is gonna get fixed within a 5 - 10 minute period while they're being chased by a mutant dinosaur? LAZY WRITING!!!!!! To go back to what Dan said yeah they should name it the plot-o-saurus rex. How about making they dinosaur have bird DNA so it can sprout wings and fly! The female character has been referred to as "heels" ever since I saw the film nobody remembers her character for anything but that! Oh but I remember one other thing which is her all the sudden being hardcore saving Chris Pratt by firing a gun at some raptor bird. And I doubted her character ever handled gun before. She was too uptight and all about business. The gun thing is a minor complaint. But how about the omage to budget horror films everywhere. That blood splatter that looked like liquid red jello and that baby sitter scene. I laughed out loud when Dan described it as something you'd see off of the SciFi channel because he was right. The villain was an idiot, the raptor training was dumb, and as much as I like Chris Pratt he along with everyone else felt like a miscast because of how AWFUL THIS MOVIE WAS! Biggest theatrical disappointment of the year I enjoyed Terminator Genysis 10 times more. I actually disliked Mad Max Fury Road more but I didn't go to theaters to see that one so at least that was money saved. Was what Andy said about the director being a fan of the originals true? Judging by watching Jurassic World he hated the originals and in my opinion the other two sequels were better. Why? Because they at least tried to make sense. That's why. And all you haters of JP3 can say whatever you want because if you stack the negatives against each other Jurassic World has the most. End of story.
***** Yeah that's what it all boils down to, I mean everyone agreed with Dan after the round that we should care more about the quality of these things, but it is impossible to call it a failure in the face of its success and popularity, no matter what critics may say... If it was "Good or Bad" Dan definitely would have won.
I'm with Andy on this one. Jurassic World wasn't a perfect movie, but it was entertaining as hell and I had an absolute blast from start to finish. It accomplished the impossible and gave us a Jurassic Park sequel that was actually watchable.
Brad Wright So you're just happy with a "watchable movie" using your nostalgia to reach your wallet ? That's Dan's point: Let's stop being satisfied with "meh" movies because that's all they'll keep giving to us. Plus if you dare to take up the torch then, AT LEAST, try to stay true to the base material. Jurassic world is an okay random blockbuster but terribly fails as a JP sequel...
Pitch the next Jurassic Park movie : Batman is sent to Jurassic World. Batman fights the dinosaurs. Batman wins and gets the girl, because he's Batman. End credits. End credits secret scene : Batman hanging out with Superman in a coffee shop.
I seriously don't get the CGI complaints. They look fine to me. Stop staring so hard at everything that you notice every little flaw just watch and enjoy. I thought it was not only a fun movie but a good movie. The MC was awesome, the female lead while not amazing at least tried to do shit and kicked some ass at some points. She even basically saved the day at the end. The plot was also thought out fairly well. yeah some of the characters did dumb shit but that to me was kinda the point. They were treating this thing like just a normal Dino and thinking about the money or the opportunity and so they made dumb choices to protect their own interests instead of nuking the damn thing as fast as possible. Also to the people who say the Indominous Rex wasn't unique enough. It was a giant T-Rex sized Dinosaur with arms long enough to grab things! That alone is more than enough to make a beast to be reckoned with since the T-Rex's biggest flaw is it's tiny arms. Also this movie deserves more praise for making the kids not just annoying little shits. They get their asses in gear and really try to survive. I agree we shouldn't just give movies a pass when they are bad but I don't think this was bad. To me most of the critisizm comes from the CGI and the rest is mostly just nit picking the rest of the movie to find other flaws to add weight to their argument. While we shouldn't mindlessly give movies a passing grade if they are bad we also shouldn't TRY to find reasons to hate a movie. Also just to make one more point the negative side tried to claim it's possible to make a movie better than the first movie... no sorry that is 100% impossible. Wanna know why? We have praised the shit out of that movie for so long and our nostalgia goggles are so thick that nothing and I mean NOTHING will ever beat it in most peoples eyes. Listen guys the first movie was great but it was also flawed. it's main couple was thrown together rather poorly. No one really develops. People make a lot of dumb descisions. Yet we all still loved it for breaking the mold in so many ways. The first movie is FAR from bad but it's a bar that will NEVER be surpassed because of nostalgia.
sivad parks "I thought it was not only a fun movie but a good movie. The MC was awesome, the female lead while not amazing at least tried to do shit and kicked some ass at some points. I completely agree. This movie has been by far one of my favorite movies of 2015, No of all time.I really don't understand why people complain about the CGI. STOP LOOKING SO HARD AT DETAILS AND ENJOY. Like sure some parts were questionable like when he hid under the truck and spilled oil over him self how did his eyes not burn,How did she run in a jungle in heels but I really stopped caring about that. And the Indominus Rex isn't unique enough,DUDE ITS PART TREX AND RAPTOR AND EVEN MORE THINGS. Like really dude it's a dinosaur we can't do more with it, and the raptor training. Ok it's believable cause if you train with an animal or creature for like years they think your the leader. Like this movie is not only fun but amazing. Sure there are some questionable parts but this was a great movie overall
WHAT made it even better was they confirmed it was the T-rex from the first movie. It even had the scars from the first raptor attack on its neck My thoughts on Jurassic World Can I first say I think it was funny how ‘KingPin’ was antagonizing ‘Star Lord’ The whole film and that asian guy from the first movie was there but at first it was an alright movie nothing spectacular and I was gonna give it a Spill/Double Toasted Rating of Matinee…. ...... ....... ...... THEN THAT FUCKIN ENDING!! kinda SPOILERS but all Ill say is.... FUCKIN YOOOOOO THT ENDING GAVE ME A GOLIATH SIZED HARD ON. I DONT GIVE A FUCK HOW FANSERVICY OR RIDICULOUS THAT ENDONG WAS!!!! SO GODDAM RAW . LIKE SERIOUSLY BEAST!!!!! I SCREAMED IN THE THEATER. MY INNER CHILD TOOK OVER ME AND STARTING GRABBING PEOPLE NEXT ME SHAKING THEM FANBOYING AND THEY RECIPROCATED. AND THE WHOLE THEATER WAS GOIN NUTS. Hell even got my action figures out from the 90s and made my own vid cause it was too FUCKIN RAW!! haha
When the trex ran through the spino Fossil the whole theater exploded with cheers even the children in the audience did and then when the ending shot came up everyone was cheering it was so loud in there the employes thought something was wrong and were about to call 911 lol
Charlie Theanteater the cinema i watched it in also had a funny moment where the entire crowed hummed along to the John Williams theme And may i also say T-REX/RAPTOR DREAM TEAM!!!!!!!
So Andy gets the point on Jurassic park not because of his arguments but because it's impossible to call it a failure. Isn't that just breaking your own rules?
basquat76 Dan said so at the end but he shouldn't have agreed to the question. The question should have been was the movie good or bad not was it fun or a failure. The way the question was it was heavily favored to one side and the world itself is saying yes the movie was fun. The movie is liked by majority of the critics and it is the 2nd highest grossing weekend ever and might be 1st. Dan was dumb for agreeing to the question as it was worded and if he would have fought for it to be how it should have been worded he would have destroyed Andy in that round.
Nerds Eternal Well that might be a fact to you but it wasn't to Dan. It's all taste and preference, but the point was that they always say it's the arguments they base their decision on, which i don't think they did here. But watching the entire video they kind of broke that rule in most of the fights. It's a new ref and it's probably not easy keeping your own opinion out of it.
yeah the movie is bad but fun my inner 7 year old came out yet if the question was is it bad then Dan would have won but to most people are going to strip themselves out of logic and watch raptors vs T-Rex so yeah the question set him back from the start
Nerds Eternal I don't think you are getting what i'm trying to say. It's not question that's the problem, it's that they didn't pick a winner based on the arguments.
mayankbawari Oh yes definitely. Remember his Superman battle pitch? Which superman would win? Henry Cavhill and opening argument was Henry Cavill is a vicious bloodthirsty killer and the whole room died with laughter.
or the #botanicus pitch, along with when he brought those Marvel Fighting cards, where Spiderman had more fight than Iron Man, and plus he makes some really solid arguments. Roger Barr is good too, they should come together often. Its not the questions but the responses, that are interesting. Mr Sunday Movies and his podcast friend Mason would be a great addition here.
Wasabifold that line 'henry cavill is is a vicious cold-blooded killer ''line killed me ,just the way he said it .which fight was it i think i should re-visit it ?
The Spanish Peruvian He's so dumb and obnoxious. It seems like there's nothing worse than him judging until you see him participate. This show would be much more enjoyable if he did neither.
@@cwh0092 Because Dan Murrell is a complete idiot. None of his arguments didn't make any sense. He sounded like a 5 year old complaining that he didn't get the toy that he wanted.
I dont think it is a failure because obviously it did what it was suppose to do and that was get a huge profit. Now if we're talking about disappointment, thats a whole other story. I think the question should have been reworded as well. "Fun or Disappointment?"
sideswipeDJ I agree with you... its like.. it may be good for the franchise but may be bad for cinema in general... and I feel like this will promote it heading down the slippery slop and become like the transformers :S.
outsidelookinginprod Colin Trevorrow was probably not motivated by money, but the studio and producers obviously were. I mean hell, it wasn't 5 minutes in before we saw the ubiquitous Beats headphones. How they chose such an unproven director to handle such a big franchise makes me suspicious- studios don't work that way. Something seems off in this equation. If JW is successful because it's making money, then we need only look at Transformers, which still pull in piles of cash. These are the films that Honest Trailers and Cinema Sins rail against, but Andy wants to make an exception for this film for some reason. Dan was right in everything he said. The question sucked.
Jurassic did have a bad plot and bad characters but it has many redeeming qualities that are fun and enjoyable. It's a fun monster movie and the best sequel.
Francisco Varela Who gives a fuck abut plot and characters when dinosaurs are being envolve. To me now at days all movies would never be "original" as they all copy or resemble something else. We also to smart and we already identified any tropes. try watching the movie half drunk if you're too smart and trust me movies become 150% much better. You be like "Uhh god run fat dude run!!" rather then "Uhh he's the fat guy his gonna get eat so predictable and stereotypical like if a fat person count out run a killing machine giant dino that can run 150 miles per, good thing his not a woman or else this would be sexist and misogynistic" Or some bull shit people say now at days. but you right best monster movie
Lord Meric I somewhat agree, since it is kind of harder nowadays to make an original movie. That's what a lot of these recent blockbusters are doing, becoming just fun to watch popcorn thrillers which totally works with the times that we are in especially with the blockbuster movies.
Cinema Knight also we becoming very demanding. Movies were never made to "feel attach" that the job of sitcoms. in the past we were super naive and arrogant but now that we see everything in any way told. Everything becomes repetitive and because we are in the age of decline..everything depress us and makes us arrogant and cherry picky..so yah.. if your a miserable baster get drunk before the movie soo you can tranquilize the ass hole that you are and let the little kid have his fun again.
I know I'm really late. But Dan Murrell was a complete idiot in this video. He calls the maker's lazy. Yet he said that his idea of a sequel is just to copy the first one. If I had the chance. I would say to his face. I love Jurassic World more than Jurassic Park. So much so. Jurassic World is in my Top 5 movies of all time.
SPOILERS Dan looked SO happy that it was at least Mike who won and beat him, and not ANDY and his obnoxious shouting and interruptions. He was trying so hard not to smile! I'm glad too, that would've been an insult!
Spencer did pretty great actually. I hope he hosts again, he was clear, backed up his decisions and I think he generally made the right call. Good on him, because man this was tense.
I completely agree with why this thing is fun. The premise actually makes sense. Just look at the people getting on this movie, these are the people who would be bored as hell of dinosaurs after 20 years. And of course a business would have to try and change and grow in order to keep people coming back. Are people crazy enough to make a gene-spliced super predator....yes, yes they are. Even the raptor side of things had time and sense worked into it. You raise these guys from their birth, you stick with them the whole while, and you respect the threat. I could buy Owen being able to maintain an unsteady position as the alpha of that pack. He worked for it. I don't care that it's not perfect, you can poke holes at anything. Look at Cinema Sins videos on everything :). But is it a darn fun and good movie? Yes, I think so.
Spoiler alert: I actually cared about Simon Masrani, he was a billionaire that gave a shit about people, (He made a promise to Hammond to create the park for people to enjoy not make money off of) When he saw what monster Wu created he took it upon himself to stop I-Rex. I was kind of sad that he died, you can say he got I-Rekt.
A. Jansen Leung You could call it a fun movie if you decide to block out everything nobody wants to see in a Jurassic Park movie: cliche characters, on-off relationship between main characters, drama between characters, a divorce that was shoehorned in for no reason whatsoever, adding absolutely nothing to the plot except 10 more minutes of run time. And these things are almost 3/4 of the movie. I don't know if sitting through a poorly paced-cliche-We used to date, but now we're not, but we are totally going to date again by the end of the movie-plot device is worth the 20-25 minutes of actual dino-action. I don't know why they didn't argue this during the Jurassic World fight, but for me at least, this was what ruined Jurassic World. Exactly the way it ruined Jurassic Park 3. Quite frankly, I can not understand why Dan did not use this issue as an advantage during the fight because, no matter what people find fun, or what expectations they have when going to see a Jurassic World movie, I can not believe that anybody wants to see that god-awful plot device with the relationship. And no matter how many shiny CGI dinosaurs they've sprinkled the movie with, in the end, that was what the movie was all about, how Bryce Howard was a fuck-up, but then she grew because the magic power of Chris Pratt love and a dying dinosaur.
Dobrescu Cosmin As much as I agree with you that question was a one sided dumb question. They should of changed the question to good or bad. Because if someone picks fun, you can always pick out the most stupid parts and call it fun. Which is dumb. Really really stupid. The person who had to put in the most effort is the one arguing on why it's a failure. But I felt Andy just talked over that whole thing just yelling.
sinn moss Yeah, that's also true, although I don't really get what's this guy's issue, every time I hear him he bursts into sudden yelling for no reason. And that's also true, the fact that the question was asked that way and the fact that Dan didn't even use that relationship, human element argument made me feel like that fight was somewhat staged so that Andy could win it. Might be just me, but that's how I see it.
I wish Andy knew more about LotR lore, because if he did, he would have known how powerful Gandalf truly is. Gandalf is one of the Maiar, essentially low-level heavenly beings, which means two things: 1. Gandalf is difficult/impossible to kill 2. Gandalf has the backing of God's (Or in this case Eru Iluvitar's) will So while Gandalf has the power of a divine being, Dumbledore is simply a magically trained man, essentially meaning that Gandalf wins by default.
ACAProjects HD I understand Spencer's decision but it's really frustrating when someone gets the point because of semantics and how the question is formulated. Dan deserved the point, I agree.
Aerodynamisch distinction: trash talking something that the majority of people like is what doesn't work. When they were fighting about the BvS teaser, the point went with the trash-talker because she had the more ammunition to fight with because most people already hated it. It's not always about popular opinion, but when it's a subject as one-sided as "Are we excited for Fan4tastic?" then trash-talk away!
Jurrasic World is hands down the worst movie I have seen the last decade. The storyline and dialog seems to have been writen in a few hours. Every possible movie cliche is in the movie : Bad parenting , wiz kid , Self absorbed teenager who has to become a man , Career obsessed woman who finds out she has a hart , Macho man with corny oneliners , Running thru the jungle the whole movie with perfect hair , Out running a T-rex in high heels , Trained military men who can't hit a 50 foot target , .... I can go on and on..This movie just sucks so bad it is hard to imagine that in 20 years time they couldn't come up with a better story or script... I saw it for free and even I want a refund....I can't believe anyone who is into movie's would give this a good review...Maybe someone who isn't a movie buff can just sit back and find it enjoyable but any self respecting movie buff has to admit this movie is just painfull to watch....Even Chris Pratt thinks it sucks and that's why he immediately signed on to do another one because he knows nobody is gonna wanna put him in their movie after watching this....There is only one good scene in the whole movie and that's the one where it says THE END
I think youre being too negative. Its not terrible but its not great. It was fun. Those last 30 minutes were awesome. And the soldiers were able to shoot the I. Rex but it seems the hide is pretty thick even for bullets. I can name a lot worse than JW.
CarnageTrooper x No sorry I'm not...The amount of terrible cliche's in the movie was just ridiculous....C'mon really the last 30 minutes were awesome ? The raptors who were the single biggest threat in the park are now like trained dogs ? Really ? Letting the T-Rex out to fight the I-Rex was a good Idea ? Not to mention that she somehow outruns a 40 foot wild animal set on eating her in high heels , C'mon man ...I think you need to set your standards higher. And the part that I ment when I said they couldn't hit the 50 foot target was when they were flying over it in the chopper with the 50cal....I mean c'mon man Rambo would have killed it with 1 arrow and trained military guys can't get a single hit with a machine gun...It was just awfull to watch and lacked all effort when it came to the screenplay and dialog.
DINO GOJIRA GUY O No the Dino guy likes the movie about Dino's....I'm so shocked The movie sucked T-Rex dick If I had paid money to see it I would have been pissed off....Hell I'm piss now for wasting my time with such a crappy movie. I can honestly say I would watch Sex and the city (the movie) before I ever watch that crap again....On a side note : Godzilla sucked too
BDWJ1986 No one predicted what was in the I.Rex, nor that it was intelligent enouogh to trick them into entering the padok. Also, almost all Universal films are made to sell merch.
The point and the problem is that filmmakers and studios get lazy with big blockbusters because they can. They still make money no matter how shamelessly they spam product placement and how lazily they write the plot and the characters. The more money we give movies like Jurassic world the more the studios will just keep pumping them out off the assembly line.
MarkSurge9411 really? as soon as I heard "thats confidential" I jumped to raptor. What else would it be combined with that they would have to keep it secret. I loved the movie but not because of the story.
with christopher lee passing away, could we have question paying homage to the stalwart actor, perhaps, "Which is the best movie starring Christopher lee?"
adyrav NOOOOOOOOOO, again they will talk about Star Wars and Star Trek. We NEED some questions that'd make them get out of the comfort zone. Always the same movies, it seems like they've only seen 100 films in their life. That's why I like Dan, he always chooses the best and the most non-obvious film.
Andy won the first fight... But Dan's pitch for a sequel was sooooo good! I would actually pay to see his pitch, and usually I despise most of the pitches on the show. x)
carloswachuwa13 Dan's sequel was essentially the same as Lost World, but with a new company instead on InGen trying to rebuild. A company trying to round up some dinosaurs with a group of people sabotaging their efforts.
"This movie brings nothing new..." Let's see if that's true... Plot of Jurassic Park 1: group of people are stuck on the island and need to get off (best) Plot of Jurassic Park The Lost World: group of people are stuck on the island and need to get off (copy of original) Plot of Jurassic Park 3: group of people are stuck on the island and need to get off (copy of original) Plot of Jurassic World: they need to take out this T-Rex on steroids before it reaches the civilain population while the civilain population is trapped on the island. Suuuuuuuuuure...
Oh yea and "mindless CG dinosaur fighting"? what do you want? A REAL dinosaur killing people? For them to actually genetically spene a near impossible to kill dinosaur? For them to get a REAL T-Rex and raptor to fight a REAL genetically enhanced dinosaur?
Dom Swinchin It's the same plot structure; there's no way you can dispute that. You then changed how you summarized the 4th movie to make it appear completely different from the first 3, but it's not. Sorry.
My gripe with Jurassic World, MY ONE PROBLEM... (Spoilers, by the way) After the I. Rex is taken out, Rexy gives Blue the "We're not friends, but I'm not gonna eat you" face. I'm pretty sure that's not how animals treat each other. The Park had been in chaos, so Rexy probably wasn't fed. Blue would have made a nice snack. Even if they just made her roar at the raptor, like "Piss off!", it would have been better. The made her too human at the end.
a) High school me would have had such a crush on Mike Carlson. b) Andy Signore is a fun-loving lighthearted guy but he's not a good fighter. I actually think he's a fairly good judge. c) I really need the Screen Junkies to do better with their Harry Potter knowledge.
Yeah, because half-wit Andy was making a stupid argument, trying to advocate for this garbage of film. The proof is in the pudding that Jurassic World is just a mess and Andy ignores it by saying its "fun." It's not fun! If Andy had "fun" with this movie, why can't he have fun with the other sequels? He's just as mindless as the people who wrote Jurassic World.
I understand what you are saying, but I don't understand what makes a movie "fun." The plot was obviously terribly written with WAY too many plot holes, Andy couldn't remember any of the characters' names, and the action in this movie was forgettable because it was nothing new. My sister is 13 years old and even she thought this movie was a mess and she hated it! Half-wit Andy failed to answer what made this movie passable from all the other movies Screen Junkies crap on. And he said this movie is the best sequel? What a load of crap! In the other sequels, at least the dinosaurs acted like animals and at least the people were helpless. No one was helpless in this movie. Was the power out? We're the dealing with sabotage? Was there a storm? The whole climax of JW was centered around money when Jurassic Park wasn't intended for money. It was intended for wonder and excitement. For example, they used the Jurassic theme in the movie, but why use the theme for wonder when the "problem" of the park is that people are getting bored? See how that doesn't work? Constantly this movie would tell us one thing and then show the exact opposite. And they were obvious about it, as well. When did this because acceptable in the movie industry. I find it hilarious that Andy was bashing Transformers when this movie pulled the same stunt: lazy writing to just get to the point of action. Andy is an idiot who trips over his own words.
C. Mustard Dan's argument wasn't opinion based. Andy's was. It's his opinion that he is letting the laziness of this movie pass. Dan (along with several others including myself,) is saying that this movie is a failure because it DOES NOT hold up what Jurassic Park is. This IS NOT a retelling of the original because in the original, the people were literally helpless. That movie was a movie about survival and it just so happened to have dinosaurs in it. The power was out, the communications were down, there was a storm, and their was sabotage. How is Jurassic World a retelling of the original when there was none of that in the movie? Jurassic World was a mindless monster movie, and yes it was mindless because the writing was so bad. Not only that, there was character growth in the original. There was no character growth in Jurassic World. Did you really care for any of these suckers? Chris Pratt for example was SO useless. What did he do other than razzle dazzle you with his face as he rode on a motorcycle with his dogs you call dinosaurs? The freak'n red head did more than him!!! She kicked a flying dinosaur off his sorry butt then gunned it down, she rammed a raptor with a van, and (as insultingly stupid as it is) she outran a T-Rex in high heels. WHAT DID PRATT DO TO MAKE YOU CARE ABOUT HIM?! So what Dan is saying is when did sloppy work like this become acceptable? The movie makers didn't try because this movie lacked consistency and this movie constantly tells us one thing and then does the exact opposite without giving us any reason why. The writing was bad, the characters were bad, but this movie making so much money is the biggest joke ever. This mindless monster movie does not deserve it's Jurassic title.
***** I absolutely hated this movie. It was NOT fun. It was more of an insult to intelligence, really. I agree with you. The movie was dull and lazy and sloppily put together. This was not a fair argument at all because half-wit Andy keeps pulling his trump card of calling the movie "fun" and he wins. That is the dumbest reason ever. This whole movie was made for the 2 minute fight at the end. That is exactly what Michael Bay does with his movies: sloppy writing to get to the point of action. This is also like a Bay movie because of the way they use Pratt. He is only there for his face. His character does nothing! The freak'n red head does more than him. She kicked a dinosaur off his sorry butt then gunned it down, she rammed a raptor with a van, and (as stupid as it is) she outran a T-rex in high heels. What did Pratt do other that sit his bum on a motorcycle, look pretty for the camera, and drive through the jungle surrounded by bad CGI dogs they call dinosaurs? Anyone who gives this movie a pass is a solid joke.
John Berchmans I kinda hated it! Hate is strong word, but I was annoyed with the movie for pretty much every minute of it's run time. The only thing I liked was Nick, from New Girl, wearing the Jurassic Park T-shirt
sivad parks Plot conveniences were just the worst. The big one that did it for me was the kids heading out after they closed the ride down. Not only the fact that they couldn't automatically get those balls back to the station, but the fact that if kids saw a huge break in a fence in a dinosaur park, they would go into it. Just bad movie for me.
Andy Shick It's on TV. It's Mike and some girl, and I think it's actually for Allstate. It's when the girl is explaining to him that she got a safe driver bonus check, but instead of her voice it's the Allstate black guy with the really deep voice. Mike just sits there and listens.
Dan should of won! better arguments! totally right on Jurassic world and fake move. spencer was a entertaining judge but i do believe dan got shorted! he is still the champ and in my mind undefeated. dan is the man, and no one yet has been able to properly handle him.
I enjoyed Jurassic World. It was a typical "monster on rampage" movie, but it was done well. I expected to be entertained and I was. I don't think anyone hoped that it would capture the spirit of the original.
Nothing will ever compare to Jurassic Park, but in this canon so far, Jurassic World is as close as we've gotten. The other two sequels had shitty acting, awful cgi, plot holes, scientific inaccuracies that were unaddressed and countless other problems, but Jurassic World doesn't get enough credit. JW has great cgi and explains the scientific problems with the animals. The plot is relatively solid, the casting is great, and you get to see the park up and running! As someone obsessed with JP, I loved to see the dinosaur enclosures, the up and running park in general, etc.
That first round was bullshit. Dan clearly won that. His arguments were so much better. The judge even said he agreed with him and he made better points!
I agree, his arguments were better but I think it did not fit the question. His arguments were more suited towards the question 'Was it good or not?' instead of 'Was it fun or not' . I agree with Dan that in regards of the bar set by the original Jurasic, this movie has sort of lowered those bars but just because it wasn't exactly good means it is not fun. (P.S. Though I see why Dan's argument was not suited for the question, I was sort of confused with Andy's arguments)
Jurassic World earned $204 million domestically on its first opening weekend. That means that Jurassic World has now passed Avengers: Age of Ultron ($191 million opening weekend) to become the second highest opening weekend of all time domestically. With solid word of mouth from both critics and audiences (71% Rotten Tomatoes rating, "A" Cinemascore) I'd say Jurassic World is a success both critically and financially, not a failure.
+Moussa Sy Yeah, Andy shouted over him even when he did speak, and Andy talked for way longer. He monopolizes the speaking time to bulldoze his way to points - if you have more time to say more things than everyone else, it's easier to get a point!
actually he didn't yell over him, only time this happened was when they were reading critic reviews. He did get a bit more time, but as spencer said, for question fun or failure Andy wins, and Dans wins if the question was good or bad. Dan is my favorite fighter, but I think Spencer made the right call
I feel very conflicted about this week's fight! It's saddening to see the champ (who will always be The Champ of this show!!) stumble, but what a great show today! I really really liked Spencer as a judge--let him do it one more time and he'll be even better and more comfortable. Also liked this matchup. Mike Carlson always brings creativity to the show and fights civilly. Always glad to see him here.
Idea for a new screen junkies regular segment: "Mike Carlson pitches" The logo of the show can be a crude depiction of Mike as a baseball pitcher. You can get an illustrator to make some of the most iconic images on screen.
Spencer, Dan and Mike would be the best panel ever. They're all brilliant, easy-going and hilarious. I was so excited when I opened this and saw them, then Andy came into the picture, I was like "Sigh, here we go with more loud arguing and stupid arguments."
Didn't offer anything new. Ha, the old "use an absolute word" failure. Owen training raptors was beyond new. An open park with thousands of people at risk was new. Then dude goes on about remembering names from a movie he's seen probably dozens of times versus once. I remembered Owen and Claire, plus the raptors are named Blue, Charlie, Delta and I think Echo. Then there was Indominus Rex. Consider me amused at a bunch of people who probably have never made movies ever pass judgement on people not making any effort whatsoever. Again, absolute words. I didn't watch the movie and think there was no effort put in. You're really limited on what you can realistically do with a dinosaur movie that doesn't involve dumping them onto populated areas and turning into just bloody chaos -- or a Godzilla ripoff. I'd like to know what they have all thought about the MCU movies. About the only two I could consider at least Jurassic World fun are Iron Man and Captain America: TWS. These at least gave you something to think about, even if a lot of the science is probably wrong, compared to the sky farting throwaway villains and never seeing anybody really in danger. At the end of JW, I thought Claire was going to end up dead trying to save her nephews. Owen was about the only one I ever felt would really never die because he knew best how to respect the creatures.
Michael Buckelew What a stupid response. You do not have to make movies to decide if a movie is good or not. Just like you dont have to be able to drive to tell when someone is a terrible driver.
I didn't think jurassic world was a good movie, but i did have fun with it. However Dan made the stronger argument he should have won. And no one picked silence of the lambs as the best poster?
Ivan Flores Yeah, its a fun movie, but its a bad one. Dan got better arguments about why it was a failure, the arguments should win. Andy was the same all the time, "i was having fun".
I love how Dan goes off on his long rant on how Jurassic World is mindless than proceeds to praise Fury Road, which was nothing but a two hour car chase scene with no plot or character. Gotta love those double standards.
Dans only points were that jurrasic world had no character development or plot but what's so great about jurrasic parks development or plot? I think people just have too high of standards these days if you compare the story and characters to the first movie I think jurrasic world wins
TheReccher Fury Road has a very VERY interesting character arch for Nux (Nicholas Hoult) and a wonderfully executed plot; just because a plot is simple does not mean it is nonexistent. The themes of the movie alone are intriguing enough to last an entire film's length, so the plot of Fury Road being plain made perfect and complete sense. While Fury Road most certainly is a "two-hour-long car-chase-scene," it has impeccable choreography, cinematography, film editing, acting, directing, practical and visual FX, (to name a few) AND a submersing plot, albeit a simple one. (let's not forget how plain and simple other films are, like Star Wars Ep. IV and Raiders of the Lost Ark)
Fr is a far superior movie compared to jw. In every way. It actually be respectful to say jp1 had more in common with the way FR was made. Only using cg when necessary and having action that meant something. When someone dies you feel for that character. Like the old women. JW was a cg fest with not one character story finishing. What happened to the black guy in the woods with the raptors ? The kids parents divorcing ? The mom in the board room? The golf cart turned over ? Owen nearly getting eaten before diving through a fence to get away from raptors. But then all of a sudden he is on a motorcycle with them. Dr wus random sub plot that never finished. The whole movie was made around a couple ideas twisted from the book. But they never actually made a movie. FR did everything right jw did wrong.
I think, as it usually goes with these things, now that we're a year beyond Jurassic World, more and more people who thought it was amazing at first now start to look at it more objectively. Yeah, The Lost World wasn't great overall, but Jurassic World is a really bad movie overall. It simply has some moments that play on the nostalgia. Jurassic World is the typpical bigger badder but also much dumber sequel. It copies off of the first movie and tries to make it more Xtreeeeeme. "Rex saved the day in the original by fighting raptors? Here's the T-Rex fighting the new super duper saurus rex!!" Jurassic World lacks the style and atmosphere of Steven Spielberg, and the well written characters from Michael Crichton.
Fuck yeah, I always found The Lost World underrated. Sure there are some annoying characters and inconsistent things about the movie, but there are number of really damn great set pieces throughout the movie. I always remember the movie for the mad max-esque scene, the cliff scene, the raptor on the field, and the whole chicago scene, Spielberg still delivered in his great sense of direction and tension buildup even though with a bad script thrown at him. Compare to uninspired and mediocre direction on Jurassic World, I bet this movie will be miles better if Spielberg directed it instead
twmcgraw303 The poachers were a nice touch, but foiled when teaming up with Ian's group. They represented an antagonist, since the dinosaurs are just mindless monsters. Ian's girlfriend was the worst character in all four movies. She was annoying, unlikable, stupid and no chemistry with Ian whatsoever. Vince Vaughn's character was an animal rights activist for a T-Rex that was trying to kill you and everyone else for the entire movie. I love dinos, but if T is trying to kill me, you'd better shoot the shit out of that thing. The pacing was bad, the characters unbelievable, Ian was pretty good. The entire ending sequence in Chicago required me to suspend my belief too far and I was already bored with the movie an hour before the end. I honest to goodness enjoy JP3 more, solely based on the fact that it has more thrills. It's a terrible movie in terms of everything else though.
Chronologically in terms of relation with the story its the 4th movie (though i hated 1,2 and 3 so my opinion conflicts there) but release why new hope, empire strikes back and return of the jedi are the first three movies or the oridge tridge
Zer0Hour17 Let's face it, it was a stupidly phrased question, 'fun or failure?' I can only think of a handful of movies that were bad enough for failure to win that fight, as they said in the show it should have been 'good or bad' and Dan clearly would have won in that case. I havent even seen the film so I don't have an opinion on it but Dans arguments were way stronger if you take away the 'failure' element.
Young Ben Kenobi but you're comparing Dan's arguments in this hypothetical "is it good or bad" question to Andy's arguments for it being fun. You can't say Andy's arguments for it being good wouldn't have been different or better if the question was different.
I'm just saying that I felt that Dan's given arguments were stronger than Andy's and the only reason that he won the round was because you can't describe Jurassic World as a failure or not fun. The actual arguments that were put forward were stronger fir Dan than for Andy
I don't think it was cheating to use a clip from the film in Dan's argument. I think it was clever and shows that Dan is not only knowledgeable, but has a great finesse to his ability to debate that some of the other Movie fighters don't have.
Also this strategy wouldn't have worked if the clip didn't so aptly describe what the current jurassic movie is like, it's almost too fitting honestly...Dan's the man
Thank you Dan for calling Andy out on his bullsh*t. The only reason Andy gives Jurassic World is a pass is because he is a fan of the series, and I'm tired of seeing that type of bias on Screen Junkies.
Ben Johnson Honestly I just wish Andy would have a little self control and respect his fellow contestants, just once. He is notorious for yelling at and interrupting the other people on the panel, while they seldom show him the same discourtesy. Ultimately, I just dislike the way he expresses his opinions, the content of those opinions matters little as far as I'm concerned. This is one of the main reasons that I dislike having Andy compete, he brings some entertaining zeal, but it's over the top, rude and quite irritating overall.
Ben Johnson Dude Dan is a far bigger fan of the series. They both said Jurassic Park was perfect, but Dan said Lost World was decent while Andy said both sequels are trash. What you said makes no sense.
My sequel idea - Instead of jurassic world movie what if we got a weird 1.5 sequel where the story occurs right after Jurassic park where a few people, including a chaos theory mathematician, a paleontologist and few others discover the existence of dinos on Site B ( which is the island Ian goes to in The Lost World). They discover that dinosaurs roam freely on this island and it becomes a survival movie where the people who got stranded are trying to get off the island. The chaos theory mathematician will fill the role that Ian Malcolm played in the actual Lost World Novel which wasnt tackled at all in the movie version. The theory of how dinosaurs are there because they find the labs and realize that the dinos were hatched first on this island, why the dinosaurs havent reached their max size, why raptors behave the way they do via insight from the paleontologist, the habits and behaviour of the dinosaurs etc. People who love jurassic park movies love dinosaurs and they will relish getting more information. The novel had so much awesome theories that moved the story forward both philosophically and emotionally. In the end all of them get killed. The simple plot is more than enough because this movie will be a pure intelligent survival horror movie filled with interesting dialogue and thoughts taken from the novel. Jurassic park like Godzilla is a statement on the fact that man cannot control nature. Dinosaurs are dinosaurs. They wont listen to humans, they cant be trained etc. They are thrust into a world that they do not understand, a world where they are automatically put at the top of their respective food chain. The fact that the very air they breathe is different, the plants are different, even their behaviour (which is discovered in the movie and already in the novel) If you havent read the novels, please do so. The movies have actually left so much awesome stuff esp from Ian Malcolm.
Fight 1: FUN Fight 2: Jurassic War The military starts training raptors and Chris Pratt has to stop them Fight 3: Does A New Hope count? Otherwise Harry Potter 4
it was pretty meh, but i agree with both of the arguments, itwas a really fun movie, but also, we shouldn' t put up with this crap anymore, we need another star wars, another independence day, another jurassic park. Those were all extremely fun movies, and had great plotlines, characters, and scripts. We need a summer blockbuster that isnt meh!
*Standing ovation to Dan's closing argument in the first fight*
I was with Andy through that fight all tho I didn't like this movie as much, but that made me think who should win the round. Tilting a bit on Andys side but it's really close. I agree with Spencer that if the question was good or bad Dan would win, and this way Andy wins.
Kristian Vukajlovic Yeah, Andy won pretty much on a technicality.
I love that Dan takes these so seriously.....that's what these fights should be like. It's always a good show when Dan is on
Dan is arguing for the integrity of films. Andy is a cheap, "lets just argue for game show points" guy.
Can we have Spencer host full time? Such a clear and concise and fair judge. *applause*
One of the best of these early episodes I'm bingeing, although it's mainly because Spencer is not Andy.
Calling a movie "fun" isn't always a compliment. This is one of those times. #TeamDan
Applaud you.
There should be a scoreboard, if you skip fights because of spoilers, you don´t know who got the point
EcllipsE2510 This is a great idea.
William Stackford we should tweet that shit to Andy then
I was kinda upset about the Assistant in Jurassic World getting eaten like that. She spent the whole movie running after 2 dumbass kids and she gets tortured by Dactyl's and eaten because of them?
I dont know if it was supposed to be funny or something but it kinda pissed me off.
Al A It was pretty fucked up I agree
Al A She kinda came off as a lazy intern, killing interns is funny, I think... not sure.
Al A Yeah i agree with you but she was telling them to stop running like an idiot and got killed
i thought she was going to live because the water and she did but then i remembered what was in the water so she was screwed
SPOILER DONT READ IF YOU HAVNT SEEN THE MOVIE
well the mosasaurus killed the indominus rex at the end so hes a cool water mosasaurus
and also i loved the fight seen between the indominus rex the t rex and the raptors it was fucking awesome
Lol I loved it the dinos were creative as hell
I think Dan is the only reason I watch these. Like, I do enjoy this series, but the thing is, most of the guys who "fight" have threadbare arguments. Dan seems to be the only one that knows what an argument is, and I wish we could get more people on this show that could do that.
+Tacet Jack the Player Yeah, it always seems like there is only one person like Dan are on each movie fight. I guess that,s why the best ones have celebrities who actually know their shit as much as or more than Dan.
they all suck
+Tacet Jack the Player I watch it for Dan, Spencer and Andy. The majority of guests are bland or utter shit.
+Tacet Jack the Player Hal is just the worst. A talentless, insecure and unfunny creep of a man.
I'm gonna get so many hate comments like god -_-
+Shaelyn Fritzler Nothing so far :P
+Shaelyn Fritzler You're absolutely spot on. Good comment
Honestly thought Dan easily won that first round.
***** Totally. I see Spencer's point but Dan totally won that argument.
Lisa Mortini pretty much. The question's word choice basically screwed Dan over before the round even began.
Narcase I've realized more and more that Andy (whenever he argues) argues more based on emotion than objectivity.
***** Yeah that's what it all boils down to, I mean everyone agreed with Dan after the round that we should care more about the quality of these things, but it is impossible to call it a failure in the face of its success and popularity, no matter what critics may say... If it was "Good or Bad" Dan definitely would have won.
***** It was Dan's fault for agreeing to the question, and I'm sure he realizes that.
The day Mike Carlson beat Dan Murell. I can tell my kids I was alive when it happened.
Screen Junkies and get Scott Niswander from *****
Marios Athalakis Well, we're both technically with the same network now. It's a possibility!
***** I relly wanna see you there, scott, if this is you.
Marios Athalakis Of course it's me! The only person who has ever posted as NerdSync is me, Scott.
***** It could be an associate, but I'm glad it's you. Great last name, and thanks for everything.
Man, Spencer is much better judge than Andy.
He was good at the beginning for sure but made some questionable calls down the stretch
Bryanne Peguero In the early rounds, but IDK how dan lost lost the movie poster round and the speed round.
Gilbert is a great judge! Bad judges completely ruin any fight for me, but he is really logical and knows what to look for in an argument.
FUN. KEY WORD FUN. The question was was it fun or a failure. Dan even says its just a mindless movie. Mindless movies are fun.
Marvel fan
Fun or failure is a shitty question.
The Room is fun, but its also terrible. Which is what makes it fun.
Jouuji A movie based around dinosaurs is never going to be the next citizen Kane,
BilboB King Kong is revered as highly and as influentially.
It has plenty of dinosaurs alongside a giant ape monster.
Pitch the next Jurassic Park movie : Batman is sent to Jurassic World. Batman fights the dinosaurs. Batman wins and gets the girl, because he's Batman. End credits. End credits secret scene : Batman hanging out with Superman in a coffee shop.
Batman who are you??
Batman FUCK YOU BATMAN
Batman "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see Batman." - Batman
That explains the trex in the batcave
Batman you forgot the part where you complain about your dead parents
Jurassic World is the best Godzilla movie ever
Haedox The problem is: when i go see a jurassic park movie i want to see dinosaurs. Not godzilla, dinosaurs
Haedox
...this was nothing like a Godzilla movie though.
I say that as a long time Godzilla fan.
Haedox WHAT HE MEANT: Jurassic World is what Godzilla should have been
You are so right, dude
You are everywhere!
Metazoxan Dexall *CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP
sivad parks Because it´s his opinion, not yours.
sivad parks I think the guy pretty much explained his whole opinion in the comment, you just don´t agree :P
sivad parks "I thought it was not only a fun movie but a good movie. The MC was awesome, the female lead while not amazing at least tried to do shit and kicked some ass at some points. She even basically saved the day at the end. The plot was also thought out fairly well.

I hope Mike Carlson brought props and scripts!
- He did.
Spike Spiegel thats why we love him!
#Botanicus
Spike Spiegel Mike Carlson, a world of fun
Spike Spiegel witth mike winning with that dean ambrose top... is that forshadowing to Ambrose beating Rollins at money in the bank???
WHAT made it even better was they confirmed it was the T-rex from the first movie. It even had the scars from the first raptor attack on its neck
My thoughts on Jurassic World
Can I first say I think it was funny how ‘KingPin’ was antagonizing ‘Star Lord’ The whole film and that asian guy from the first movie was there but at first it was an alright movie nothing spectacular and I was gonna give it a Spill/Double Toasted Rating of Matinee….

Haha you are not alone friend!! Doe sadly the only ones that were going ham in the theater were me and my dad clapping and screaming xD
Can you edit that to include punctuation so we can understand what you wrote?
JaxBlade I hadn't fangasmed so hard since Avengers: Age of Ultron's mid credits scene or Spock using the Vulcan Death Grip on Khan.
Charlie Theanteater the cinema i watched it in also had a funny moment where the entire crowed hummed along to the John Williams theme
And may i also say T-REX/RAPTOR DREAM TEAM!!!!!!!
Dan was dumb for agreeing to the question as it was worded and if he would have fought for it to be how it should have been worded he would have destroyed Andy in that round.
basquat76 its always far more difficult to argue against facts and the fact is the move was fun
Andy's strategy is just to annoy the other contestants so much they forget what they're even arguing lol.
I skip everytime he speak
Make Spencer the judge more often! Oh yeah... it definitely wasn't a financial failure. $204.6M opening weekend lol.
Over $500million worldwide. Largest ever!
HOLY SHIT, 500 million!!!! That's fucking impossible. Ho. Ly. Shit.
Josh Jelks I like Andy too, but i agree Spencer was a good judge and it was fun hearing someone else's point of judgment.
Josh Jelks that little weasily shit cost Dan his perfect record.
Does anyone agree, that Mike Carlson is the one of the best guests in this show?
mayankbawari yeah i was sold on his jurassic world war movie idea ,he's funny
He's up there with roger
mayankbawari Oh yes definitely.
Wasabifold
that line 'henry cavill is is a vicious cold-blooded killer ''line killed me ,just the way he said it .which fight was it i think i should re-visit it ?
Anybody else want to see Nostalgia Critic on this show?
No.
***** Ehh.... no.
***** Dear god no
Hell yeah. Dude is funny.
Nope
I will never know how Andy came up with something as genius as honest trailers.
The Spanish Peruvian He's so dumb and obnoxious. It seems like there's nothing worse than him judging until you see him participate. This show would be much more enjoyable if he did neither.
I agree. He's really obnoxious and won't really let Dan speak
@@cwh0092 Because Dan Murrell is a complete idiot. None of his arguments didn't make any sense.
He sounded like a 5 year old complaining that he didn't get the toy that he wanted.
I like Spencer as a judge. He makes every movie fight better.
Jurassic World is a Failure as a Jurassic Park movie, but it was a fun Monster movie. I think the question isn't right.
Dumbass ^
I dont think it is a failure because obviously it did what it was suppose to do and that was get a huge profit. Now if we're talking about disappointment, thats a whole other story. I think the question should have been reworded as well. "Fun or Disappointment?"
sideswipeDJ I agree with you... its like.. it may be good for the franchise but may be bad for cinema in general... and I feel like this will promote it heading down the slippery slop and become like the transformers :S.
Saeed Mohammed That is like saying Jp1 was not a monster movie.
outsidelookinginprod Colin Trevorrow was probably not motivated by money, but the studio and producers obviously were.
Does anyone else wanna see Jurassic World War?
Jonathan Pepper Maybe in 23 more years. The world just ins't ready yet.
Jonathan Pepper Well, I'm already in the Amazing Spider-Man 2 War. I'm on the side that liked it. If you hate TASM2, go f**k yourself.
Andres Acosta .....Where did I mention TASM2 and why is it being referenced?
Nevermind. Mixed review logic. Jurassic World War joke.
Jonathan Pepper Not really, sounds pretty shit tbh (yes i know its a joke)
I want to just sit and listen to Mike Carlson pitch movies all day
Jurassic did have a bad plot and bad characters but it has many redeeming qualities that are fun and enjoyable.
You be like "Uhh god run fat dude run!!" rather then "Uhh he's the fat guy his gonna get eat so predictable and stereotypical like if a fat person count out run a killing machine giant dino that can run 150 miles per, good thing his not a woman or else this would be sexist and misogynistic"
Or some bull shit people say now at days. but you right best monster movie
+Lord Meric couldn't agree more, applause
Francisco Varela i cried when the innocent dinos were being killed..
"Plotasaurus Rex" - Dan Murrell.
Best line EVER.
Then you got the sequels to it you deserve
SPOILERS Dan looked SO happy that it was at least Mike who won and beat him, and not ANDY and his obnoxious shouting and interruptions. He was trying so hard not to smile! I'm glad too, that would've been an insult!
1:28:05 watch as Dan shakes his head after Spencer announces the winner. nice try though.
Yes, I think so.
jack martinez
Maybe they just want a good sequel that isn't dumbed down from the original?
***** Transformers doesn't have well directed action or likable characters
BDWJ1986 The kids kinda grew on me though, at the second half I started to like them.
***** I started to like Claire, Zach and Grey as the action started.
Will the voice of Honest Trailers ever take part in Movie Fights?
McKayonaise I'm hoping too brother.
McKayonaise Yes Jon Bailey for movie fights!
McKayonaise he could host a four-way battle as a disembodied voice
or be a fact checker
McKayonaise Yes! Great idea!
Spoiler alert:
I actually cared about Simon Masrani, he was a billionaire that gave a shit about people, (He made a promise to Hammond to create the park for people to enjoy not make money off of) When he saw what monster Wu created he took it upon himself to stop I-Rex. I was kind of sad that he died, you can say he got I-Rekt.
but he was killed by pterodactyls
Pteranodon let out by I-Rex :)
Sam Alafnourian but still he crashed because of them
Sam Alafnourian yes, he was a good stand in for hammond
Really liked Spencer's judging. His way of showing how he resolved stuff was fast and to the point. I liked it a lot.
If they make a sequel to Jurassic World, I want to see laser raptors.
Go watch kung fury.
Alan Lozano I did, that's why I want to see the laser raptors in a sequel.
What year is it? Viking age. That explains the laser raptors
You wanna know something exciting. JW2 is basically confirmed. Why else would they put so much detail in to that asain guy and his secret embryos?
Dude. Yeah. Then those raptors head over to Russia and take out Putin with them lasers.
Dan's closing statement in the first round was phenomenal.
I've always liked Dan on how he argues, but I have to disagree on Jurassic World. It was a mighty fun movie and like Andy said, best sequel to JP.
Dobrescu Cosmin spot on
sideswipeDJ Thanks.
Dobrescu Cosmin
As much as I agree with you that question was a one sided dumb question.
Gandalf is one of the Maiar, essentially low-level heavenly beings, which means two things:
1. Gandalf is difficult/impossible to kill
2. Gandalf has the backing of God's (Or in this case Eru Iluvitar's) will
So while Gandalf has the power of a divine being, Dumbledore is simply a magically trained man, essentially meaning that Gandalf wins by default.
Wow how did andy get the first point. i thought this show was based on arguments and clearly dan had the better of the two.
ACAProjects HD yeah
***** Its not a failure, but Dan made a better arguement and deserved the point.
ACAProjects HD I understand Spencer's decision but it's really frustrating when someone gets the point because of semantics and how the question is formulated. Dan deserved the point, I agree.
ACAProjects HD 100% agree. I actually enjoyed Jurassic World, but Dan nailed the argument. Could not believe they gave it to Andy.
I can name a lot worse than JW.
thomas verbruggen then you are either stupid or watched the wrong movie
DINO GOJIRA GUY O No the Dino guy likes the movie about Dino's....I'm so shocked
The movie sucked T-Rex dick
If I had paid money to see it I would have been pissed off....Hell I'm piss now for wasting my time with such a crappy movie.
I can honestly say I would watch Sex and the city (the movie) before I ever watch that crap again....On a side note : Godzilla sucked too
thomas verbruggen okay, thats just un called for
I completely agreed with Dan on Jurassic World. Crap movie. Summer blockbusters need to be more Guardians of the Galaxy and less Transformers 4
Chris Bode Transformers 4 was full of explosions, JW had a few.
it had at least two and guardians Is more comedy than action.
Mike Carlson, you give me life. Please keep coming on movie fights, you're the best part of it whenever you're on.
with christopher lee passing away, could we have question paying homage to the stalwart actor, perhaps, "Which is the best movie starring Christopher lee?"
adyrav NOOOOOOOOOO, again they will talk about Star Wars and Star Trek.
I would actually pay to see his pitch, and usually I despise most of the pitches on the show. x)
carloswachuwa13 Andy also won Round 4, in my opinion, great casting decisions.
carloswachuwa13 Dan's sequel was essentially the same as Lost World, but with a new company instead on InGen trying to rebuild. A company trying to round up some dinosaurs with a group of people sabotaging their efforts.
How can people not realize that Dan's pitch is the plot to The Lost World: Jurassic Park? Which was not good, btw...
Costa Rica has no military though. Totally Ruined it for me.
Dan was sooo pissed at himself. I hate to see that.
He should've won.
***** I like The Running Man more than Superman, but he had a few whack arguments.
He is still undefeated in my heart
Boyd Bissell Jr. it was really funny how he was pouting after the tie breaker. You could feel the tension, everyone was distracted. xD
nathones I agree. Simple Jack was my first pick for the fake movie fight. An entire village praised that movie!
I have the exact same opinions as Dan... he can just argue 10x better than me
Best movie with man in the title- BATMAN BEGINS
Cuán Young No. It is the Wickerman. By far.
Cuán Young Man is not in that title. Batman is one word, so is Superman. Dan should have gotten the point by default.
Spider-Man 2
I also thought of The Third Man.
Cuán Young Rain Man
"This movie brings nothing new..."
Let's see if that's true...
Plot of Jurassic Park 1: group of people are stuck on the island and need to get off (best)
Plot of Jurassic Park The Lost World: group of people are stuck on the island and need to get off (copy of original)
Plot of Jurassic Park 3: group of people are stuck on the island and need to get off (copy of original)
Plot of Jurassic World: they need to take out this T-Rex on steroids before it reaches the civilain population while the civilain population is trapped on the island.
Dom Swinchin The Lost World had a T-Rex go to civilization first.
Dom Swinchin It's the same plot structure; there's no way you can dispute that. You then changed how you summarized the 4th movie to make it appear completely different from the first 3, but it's not. Sorry.
Skyrim Sniper summary of Jurassic World is what I said. It is similar to the original three but plot-wise, it is remarkably similar. Sorry
***** that's true
The best part of this episode is how Dan basically pitched Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
My gripe with Jurassic World, MY ONE PROBLEM... (Spoilers, by the way)
After the I.
GILLZONE I guess. To be honest though, the fact that they humanised the T-Rex kinda pissed me off more. I thought the fight was absolutely amazing.
pewol I dunno. I really felt some respect there, but your explanation works I guess.
Sharpclawasaurus I WAS THINKING THE EXACT SAME THING WHEN THAT SCENE HAPPENED!! all my friends said I was insane tho...
By the end of the fight, they were both exhausted. It would've been pointless for them to go at each other.
pewol That's not what the music said.
The product placement in jurassic world was ridiculous.
William Ross In all fairness, that kind of makes it more realistic if you think about it.
dave19941000 it brings you out of the story though here I am thinking watching Man of Steel oh look Super man just destroyed an I hop
Riley Key It wasn't anywhere near Man of Steel level, Jurassic World didn't take me out of it for a moment.
dave19941000 Ahhhh not really, because they just use a few brands...thats just stupid
Andi X I don't know, companies tend to stick to one company for one type of product for bulk deals.
a) High school me would have had such a crush on Mike Carlson.
b) Andy Signore is a fun-loving lighthearted guy but he's not a good fighter. I actually think he's a fairly good judge.
c) I really need the Screen Junkies to do better with their Harry Potter knowledge.
poor Dan, you can see how disapointed and pissed he was
Yeah, because half-wit Andy was making a stupid argument, trying to advocate for this garbage of film.
C. Mustard He's saying 'can he talk' because Andy is not holding up a strong argument. Andy is talking fluff with no substance.
ANDY! STOP INTERRUPTING YOUR OPPONENT
+Mariah Simons YES THEY SHOULD TURN HIS MIKE OFF WHEN IT'S NOT HIS TURN
It may not have been a masterpiece, but did anyone really Hate Jurassic World! Hate is much too strong a word
John Berchmans How could Dan not like Jurassic World!
John Berchmans I kinda hated it! Hate is strong word, but I was annoyed with the movie for pretty much every minute of it's run time. The only thing I liked was Nick, from New Girl, wearing the Jurassic Park T-shirt
G Nauck What do you expect when the guy who wrote Jurassic Park wasn't even alive during production?
sivad parks Plot conveniences were just the worst. The big one that did it for me was the kids heading out after they closed the ride down. Not only the fact that they couldn't automatically get those balls back to the station, but the fact that if kids saw a huge break in a fence in a dinosaur park, they would go into it. Just bad movie for me.
John Berchmans Jurassic World is the McDonalds of movies.
Anyone else see Mike in that StateFarm commercial?
Edit: I goofed. It was AllState.
BigBad Bryant His name is Mike and yeah I saw him.
BigBad Bryant Where is there a State Farm commercial? Playing before the video starts?
Smax Lab Yeah it's Mike my bad.
Andy Shick Nah it's all over television.
Andy Shick It's on TV. It's Mike and some girl, and I think it's actually for Allstate. It's when the girl is explaining to him that she got a safe driver bonus check, but instead of her voice it's the Allstate black guy with the really deep voice. Mike just sits there and listens.
Me personally would've used "Back to the Future" for the poster argument. It's intense yet fun sets a tone of mystery and upbeat action.
FJAR1635 I totally agree. That was the one I thought of right away when the question was posed. Surprised none of them thought of it.
There is no one I would rather see take down Dan than Mike Carlson. I love that guy.
Please Andy let the master Dan "the menace" Murell argue.
popit198 PD: Shut your face andy
popit198 YES DAN I'M WITH YOU
Dan should of won! better arguments! totally right on Jurassic world and fake move. spencer was a entertaining judge but i do believe dan got shorted! he is still the champ and in my mind undefeated. dan is the man, and no one yet has been able to properly handle him.
Tyler Wall salt water of the ocean XD
Tyler Wall Vic Vinegar over here...
But at least Andy didn't win
***** YES
TheTsugnawmi2010 Yep he was right on point.
(P.S. Though I see why Dan's argument was not suited for the question, I was sort of confused with Andy's arguments)
nooooo, Andy is competing again! rudeness and bad sportsmanship aboung!
Oh yes!
Lukas Garcia Yeah, but is it "FUN"?*
*Not a real question - just a comment on how annoyingly subjective the Movie Fight "topics" are.
Lukas Garcia If you have to argue using the amount of money this movie did, that settle it
BDWJ1986 HEY, BDWJ, YOU OVER HERE DUDE, LUV UR VIDS
Lukas Garcia Hey, you're the boyhood dude!
so i don't think Dan got a fair amount of time on fun or failure
+Moussa Sy Yeah, Andy shouted over him even when he did speak, and Andy talked for way longer. He monopolizes the speaking time to bulldoze his way to points - if you have more time to say more things than everyone else, it's easier to get a point!
actually he didn't yell over him, only time this happened was when they were reading critic reviews. He did get a bit more time, but as spencer said, for question fun or failure Andy wins, and Dans wins if the question was good or bad. Dan is my favorite fighter, but I think Spencer made the right call
Spencer did a great job of hosting the show would love to see him host again
I feel very conflicted about this week's fight! It's saddening to see the champ (who will always be The Champ of this show!!) stumble, but what a great show today! I really really liked Spencer as a judge--let him do it one more time and he'll be even better and more comfortable. Also liked this matchup. Mike Carlson always brings creativity to the show and fights civilly. Always glad to see him here.
Idea for a new screen junkies regular segment: "Mike Carlson pitches"
The logo of the show can be a crude depiction of Mike as a baseball pitcher.
Wow spencer really took his frustration of not winning against dan today! #DanWasRobbed
Altamash Siddiqui the salt is real Yo
MsKaiserdaniel meaning?
just joking and troling XD

TheOneChannel proud to be one! :)
he lost when he could not remember their names...the main characters of the movie
just sounds like he is suffering from nostalgia
I never really heard the kids' names, at least more than once. I have to remember their names if they're said more than once.
Mega Meg Zach and Grey. I haven't forgotten and likely won't. The movie was too fun. You heard that? IT WAS FUN!!!
It's not JUST a picture of a horse, it's a horse with a pepperoni pizza saddle. Well done, Spencer.

Mike Bawden God bless this reference.
Mike Bawden #botanicus
Spencer is my favorite host AND my favorite player! Fantastic job, Spencer!!
I didn't think jurassic world was a good movie, but i did have fun with it. However Dan made the stronger argument he should have won. And no one picked silence of the lambs as the best poster?
Ivan Flores Thought the same thing about the poster. Would've been a gimme
Ivan Flores Yeah, its a fun movie, but its a bad one.
Dan got better arguments about why it was a failure, the arguments should win.
Andy was the same all the time, "i was having fun".
Ivan Flores I've never seen Silence of the Lambs, but I thought of that poster as well.
*****
Watch it!
Ivan Flores Your profile picture would win if it was a poster
How did I miss this episode?
Awesome
Clearly Andy should resign and let Spencer do the judging. Spence is by far a better judge.
I love how Dan goes off on his long rant on how Jurassic World is mindless than proceeds to praise Fury Road, which was nothing but a two hour car chase scene with no plot or character. Gotta love those double standards.
TheReccher Although I loved Fury Road and thought Jurassic World was great, that is an interesting point.
Fury road had great acting and it was consistently moving, when JW had boring parts.
Lost World is 10x better that Jurassic World.
High five, bro!!!
+Treefrog Johnson i agree with you!!
Here's the T-Rex fighting the new super duper saurus rex!!"
Jurassic World lacks the style and atmosphere of Steven Spielberg, and the well written characters from Michael Crichton.
The Lost World: Jurassic Park is a great sequel! Why do people not like that film?
Because of big TH-cam channels.
+twmcgraw303 Lost World sucks.
+Voltage Gaming That's your opinion.
+Voltage Gaming Why do you think it sucks? I'm curious.
twmcgraw303 The poachers were a nice touch, but foiled when teaming up with Ian's group.
Chris Pratt and the raptors were the only redeeming parts of the movie... the rest was a forgetful bang of fireworks like Dan said.
+Satan's Little Helper That's Not True
The T rex fight at the end was best part of movie
Wouldn't a New Hope be considered a 4th movie. even tho it was filmed first.... lol just wondering if they would of counted that.
WylunCustoms I was thinking that myself, came to see if anyone else had.
They didn't say forth MADE film, just forth film in a franchise
It is 4th movie in a franchise, not 4th movie in a series. 4th movie in star wars franchise is phantom menace.
WylunCustoms was thinking the same thing
WylunCustoms No. But it is 4th chronologically
Chronologically in terms of relation with the story its the 4th movie (though i hated 1,2 and 3 so my opinion conflicts there) but release why new hope, empire strikes back and return of the jedi are the first three movies or the oridge tridge
Mike Carlson is just so on fire in these last couple of episodes. My new favourite Movie Fighter!
Spencer was a pretty good host. I wouldn't mind him doing it a few more times
Jesus christ, Dan got robbed. Most biased judging I've ever seen on this show.
He wasn't robbed of the first round idiot, the question was fun or failure and the movie is clearly not a failure so there's only one other choice
Josef Hautala umm no. Dan was flat out wrong about Jurassic World. Even if he didn't like it, it could in no way be considered a failure.
Young Ben Kenobi
but you're comparing Dan's arguments in this hypothetical "is it good or bad" question to Andy's arguments for it being fun.
I freaking love Mike Carlson. He is the funniest movie fighter for sure #botanicus
I don't think it was cheating to use a clip from the film in Dan's argument. I think it was clever and shows that Dan is not only knowledgeable, but has a great finesse to his ability to debate that some of the other Movie fighters don't have.
Also this strategy wouldn't have worked if the clip didn't so aptly describe what the current jurassic movie is like, it's almost too fitting honestly...Dan's the man
The Exorcist has the best poster of all time.
doody magoob no
Toy Story for the Honest Trailer before Inside Out comes out! Called it!
Albert Vargas Confusing Honest Trailers and CinimaSins are we now?
Thank you Dan for calling Andy out on his bullsh*t. The only reason Andy gives Jurassic World is a pass is because he is a fan of the series, and I'm tired of seeing that type of bias on Screen Junkies.
Ben Johnson
He is a fan of the series but he didnt like Lost world and JP3.
The fact that the very air they breathe is different, the plants are different, even their behaviour (which is discovered in the movie and already in the novel)
If you havent read the novels, please do so. The movies have actually left so much awesome stuff esp from Ian Malcolm.
Best judging ever because he was able to articulate his judgments
Am I the only person who liked Jurassic Park 2.
Naw it was my fav
randy marshole I kinda liked it. Tho I think the characters where stupid for taking a bloody TREX in their truck.
randy marshole it was alright! not great but definitely not a bad movie.
I love it. I understand why people don't but come on. And I do like the San Francisco scenes
randy marshole I love it and everyone I know loves it too
Fight 1: FUN
Fight 2: Jurassic War The military starts training raptors and Chris Pratt has to stop them
Fight 3: Does A New Hope count? Otherwise Harry Potter 4
Fight 4: I haven't watched that show yet
Fight 5: I can't think of any
Fight 6: I liked the First Harry Potter's movie poster. It showed the boats going to Hogwarts. It makes me feel the magic.
Oh I forgot about Mad Max
Whatever Andy said about Jurassic World, 90% of that would be my argument for BvS and he will loose his mind. That's why Dan's the man.
it was pretty meh, but i agree with both of the arguments, itwas a really fun movie, but also, we shouldn' t put up with this crap anymore, we need another star wars, another independence day, another jurassic park. Those were all extremely fun movies, and had great plotlines, characters, and scripts. We need a summer blockbuster that isnt meh!
Mike is the best.
For best fourth in the franchise, does 'Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope' not count?
Cause it was the first one
That is technically the first
kolaxanthe That's what I was thinking! - but maybe it doesn't count since it was made first? Still, it is the fourth movie in the franchise
no, Star Wars does not count as the fourth Star Wars movie, George.
It's Episode 4! If someone watches them in chronological order, then this is the fourth movie in the franchise. It's even in the title!
I can't believe they didn't mention fake movie in Home Alone. That is the greatest fake movie ever
