  • Hey Everyone! Last summer we did a 10,000 mile service on this beautiful 1942 Harley-Davidson EL model. Our shop finished restoring this 42 back in 2011. We had a chance to meet up with Jason, the owner of this fine machine and got some fun riding footage.
Be prepared, this is our longest video! With all of the history of the year and this being such a deluxe bike from factory there was a lot to cover! Also, since Matt has been super busy restoring bikes and frames over the winter, I gave my hand at narrating the history section of our video. I hope you have all had a great winter working on your machines and that you are able to enjoy riding them this summer! And that you enjoy our little video on old 1942 Harley Knuckleheads!
    Best,
    Brittney O!

My first Harley was a 1942 flat head back in 1955. I was 14. Lots of fun on that one. Wish I had kept it.

Thanks for the education I have used your 1936-1942 Knucklehead videos for research !
It is amazing the Motor company lost WS Harley and W. Davidson in 1942 and 1943 and remained in business !
Just goes to show how solid of a design those OHV models were ..... Arther Passed in 1950!
1936 was a landmark year for sure and in my opinion there would not another until the introduction of the soft tail line in 1983! Not as dramatic as 1936 but the company had certainly turned the cornor from a not-so-happy time in the companies history.
Good Work ya bunch of Knuckleheads...... meant as a compliment in every way !

Hey there Olson Family! Great video as always, I love the Skyway Blue 42 - such well optioned bike and a beautiful restoration. I have a couple of questions about the options packages. In minute 2:29 of your video you showcase a list of all the options and 3 option packages. Were those packages only available from the 1942 onwards or earlier as well? Is this list from a book that can be found on the internet somewhere? I guess what I am trying to ask is this - is there a complete list of all the options and option packages available about each year of production of the knuckleheads? Thanks in advance and have a great rest of your week!
PS: I will be anxiously awaiting the video on 1943 and the war era knuckles ;)

Hi guys, thanks for the great content. I have a 42 Knuckle head bobber project and I’d like to paint my lifter blocks and oil pump white. Do you know the actual colour name or paint code so I can be correct in the colour I choose ? Any help would be appreciated, keep up the great videos and thank you

Wow - and again, great music in the background - what is this latino song in the beginning?

It’s an old recording! I’ll have to go back and check! Sorry usually I’m good at listing all the music and where to obtain it but it’s getting warm here now so it’s time to film, get breakin miles on the freshly restored customer bikes and now that it’s nice we have yard work to do lol! I’ll be sure to look it up tomorrow and get back to you!
