Good morning prof. Wanted to say thank you very much for the super nice demo video and the work that went into it as well as im sure the collab dev stuff you have contributed.
That's badass!! Great work all round. The snapshot mode is so powerful for live exploration. It's a huge part of what makes the Machinedrum and other Elektron gear really fun - the ability to save a good working state, completely fuck it up without worrying, then immediately reload it. It lends itself to a lot of fun tinkering, and it's amazing to see it here on the M8! Does the snapshot mode only work on the OMX-27?
sorry for the late reply, you can use the snap shot just on the m8 itself, its done by pressing the copy combo on the mixer screen to copy, and paste combo to reload the snapshot, its pretty much instant, but its ever soooo slightly not as tight as on elektrons as they are storing in ram. I have a digitakt an yeah messing stuff up with control all was a blast
3.5mm cable out the midi out of the omx-27 into the 3.5mm into the midi in on the m8. Think all the arturia are 5 pin din midi, so you would just use the 3.5mm to 5 pin adaptor (type A) that came with the M8
Is there a way to set up view changes or mutes/solos for a generic midi controller or is it exclusive to this? Have only been able to map things via Option + MIDI CC (using an arturia minilab 3). Any help is greatly appreciate
There are very low range midi notes that coincide with each button on the m8, so anything you can do by pressing the m8 buttons you can do via midi. There are also midi notes to mute or solo each track, so with the omx that is all it is doing, sending a sequence of notes to to make sure we land on the mixer screen from anywhere etc, mutes and solo's are active when the m8 receives midi note on event, then off with midi note off event. the omx is set up so when you press a mute it sends note on event, then when you press it again it sends the note off, so you dont have to hold the key. I've seen people in the discord able to set this toggle up on a launchpad, but not sure if mini lab 3 is capable of that. The list of midi notes is NOTE-NUMBER CONTROL -------- ------- 0 Play / Start 1 Shift 2 Edit 3 Option 4 Left 5 Right 6 Up 7 Down 12-19 Mutes 1-8 20-27 Solos 1-8 From memory these are ideally sent on a different midi channel than the notes so they don't trigger a sound. Those settings are found in the m8's midi settings.
So cool they added this mode!! Looks awesome and seems powerful especially when paired with a M8!! 😮 I really dig your track in this video too!! 🙌🐀
It's fun for sure, Thanks LRW, practicing my square waves :)
Confirmed that it works with headless exactly as described above. It's brilliant; thank you!
Hey glad to hear that. Thanks for confirming.

Awesome! I just got my M8, so I'll have to look into this.
Congrats!, million things you can do on your new m8 without it. (So don't feel like you need one)
This is just brilliant.

So cool, indeed! Thanks

Very nice 🙂
WoW ! i ! i ! and thanks :)
I too need this thing which cannot be attained.
Gives you time to think if you really do need one.
How is the M8 connected to the midi controller? I want to link a small Arturia midi controller do I need some special cables?

@@avrilcadabra wow this is incredible info, I really appreciate it. Is this stuff covered in any documentation or did you figure it out yourself?
the 27 is a host?
it is not a host, they are connected via 3.5mm midi cable here
How do you access this mode?
currently its press AUX twice, have to install from the m8 mode build on github, jump on the Dekioto discord if you get stuck
whats the amiga for?
It's a C64c had one growing up so nice to use it as a synth and play games on ( I need a bigger desk to fit an amiga)
Make it into a keytar verison! you'll look like harold from red green.
Haha maybe if I was 1 ft tall. Maybe the cat could play it
