I would love to become a Gonstead Chiropractor but IMO the prerequisites and the $130k - $150k+ debt that comes a long with it make it literally impossible to do. So after one goes to school for 5.5-7 years they are looking at anywhere from $1k-$2k+ a month just in student loan payments for years to come. And if it's not paid, it will be structured and your income will be garnished and you won't get any income tax back. I'm not trying to be Johnny Raincloud, but it's sad that it's so expensive and structured the way it is. I wish the path to becoming a Chiropractor was structured more like a tech or trade school, trim away the unnecessary classes ( the Fat) and things that don't apply. And have students pick the technique that they feel will suit them best and then have classes that specialize and hone that technique. I know if a Gonstead chiropractor is mixing other techniques in with it, they aren't a Gonstead Chiropractor. This coming from a Gonstead Chiropractor. I've seen many Chiropractors and I ask them how much of schooling you learn do you actually use and apply. One said 10% and the other said most is BS. (sorry his words not mine) Most nowadays are "rack'm and crack'm" chiro's. Which when owing that much debt to pay for schooling for a chiropractic career, it now becomes about money and paying the debt back. So the care goes out the window. The one's like Dr. Rahim and Dr. Ian are very few and far between and truly care and take the time that is needed. Which is exactly the way I would do it if I could. The Gonstead chiro I see now is good but I'm in and out in 3 min. (which is the norm for most) but he is NOT doing the tests that need to be done to correct the issue or do a complete adjustment. The spine is one cost, add an extremity, well that's an add on. The one's that aren't Gonstead that I've seen, "where's it hurt' they do the "adjustment" and send you on your way. So they're not doing a precise adjustment like a Gonstead Chiro would do. (or is supposed to do). I mean, my back hurts in a certain spot, I can lean backwards against the counter and get a pop and some relief but did that or is that fixing the issue, most likely not. If I'm having pain down my arm and in my shoulder and get temporary relief from popping my shoulder , elbow or wrist is that correcting the issue, again most likely not. Also Texas is trying to do away with Chiropractors being covered by insurance. And you have to understand medicare/medicaid only pays a small amount to chiro's. Please don't get me wrong, I absolutely believe that the nervous system controls every function in the body and it is ran and housed through the spinal column and if that is not in alignment it will cause a disruption in the nervous system and cause issues all around. Not to mention if the hip or sacrum (the foundation) is out then that will cause the spine to start an unnatural curve and lead to issues as well. But finding a chiropractor that takes the proper time, tests, care is just not out there. And the ones that are are few and far between. Sorry for the rant, the things I've mentioned are just frustrating , especially when one would love to help people and animals for that matter and knows that getting proper b=nerve supply will make all the difference in the world with a lot of ailments we have today. That and get rid of the GMO's and educate people on the true harmful effects of vaccines. Also the "Learn more at" Link isn't working. Thanks.
I did shitty in high school , and barely passed undergrad. Couldn’t get into med school or anything else but I want to be a doctor! This seems perfect for me!
Called admin again & again the “Admin counselor” was about 0 help & spoke a mile a minute. I guess if you don’t have the pre reqs or need help or guidance on getting them for the DC program they could care less. What a shame & the school should be ashamed for treating people like this. Do y’all have an actual admin counselor that cares about helping & actually guiding someone with some direction? I’ve tried & tried to get some kind if guidance with my situation & it seems once a school finds out you need some pre reqs & you’re older they could care less. I guess no money in helping someone that would eventually end up at that school. Short term reward & thinking is more important than actually guiding & counseling.
