Your thumbnail for this video is my car and that picture got me my 15 minutes of social media fame lol. It was definitely a great car but I had so much trouble with it. It was a love hate relationship.
I have a C5 across with the 2.7, I'm understanding that relationship now lol granted it was my fault the car broke. I've been trying to find a B5, but I can't find one for less than $5k in good condition
this car will not ruin your life. if you want a reliable one, change the gaskests, bearings, rods, piston rings, all seals like headgasket, water pump level 3 new maf sensor new turbos, head studs, main studs, intercoolers. all in all youll be out 10k+ with a reliable car butttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt it will be the greatest reliable b5 youll ever have. the reason why people say theyre a nightmare is because they mod it without complimenting mods.
Im trying to find my first car, i don't have much experience about working on a car tho. Im really looking forward to repairing, modifying and restoring cars in the future as a hobby. Do you think you could help me out and teach me the basics?
I have a 2000 manual S4 sedan, I've owned it for about 7 years, got it when it was low 150k miles now has 183k. Got it for $2500 and I've spent more on maintenance then what I paid for because I was too impatient and impulsive at the time. Because of that I got the bad luck of having to do the much needed maintenance that the previous owners neglected to do. Its not 100% up to date with maintenance but so far it runs and drives 1000x better then when I picked it up. No leaks air or fluid, no check engine codes, no tranny issues.
I seem to be on the same path. I mistakenly bought an A6 s-line with the 2.7T not knowing it is almost the same as the all road. Granted it is the 2004 with the better turbos and better transmission, it still has all the same issues as the S4 and the allroad. Currently I am dealing with a cylinder #4 misfire which i am diligently trying to diagnose and fix myself, but if it comes to it im probably going to have to send it in to a shop. The car has an oil leak which is not the rear main seal, or the valve cover gaskets as i have checked, so it is likely the halfmoon gasket or the cam tensioner seal. im in the process of replacing my ignition control module for cyl #4 and if that doesnt help im going to have to pull my coil plug and spark plug and run a compression test like i should have from the start, in order to tell if i was wasting my time.
@vinnyycent5925 yea, these audis got us haha. These engines like to leak oil like no other! Sounds like it could be leaking from those areas. Those tend to leak more same with valve cover gaskets. I used to have issues with misfires as well but mine would be with left and right bank not all at once but it was one bank having issues then the other. I was chasing it down and eventually replaced to new plugs coils and different set of good known icms and still was having a misfire issue. Turned out one of the wires on the maf pigtail was cut. Maybe check the connecter on the coil and see if it's not snipped off?
Until you have this car dialed in, keep $10k emergency money on hand. Could be turbos, clutch, or water pump and timing belt that goes. When one of those happens, you’ll want to replace everything you can get your hands on to save on future labor cost. Do that twice and you’ll have a reliable car. They truly aren’t for the faint of heart. But they’re incredible to drive once you’ve got one you can trust.
I can agree to this video. Bought a slightly modded B6 wagon 1.8 and due to lack of maintenance and a bad tune I already dumped almost 5k CAD on her in 7 months. It's an amazing car to drive, but yes..... You better be willing to spend the money.
mines original motor and trans both unopened and handles stage 3 power just fine, everyday for last 15k miles. Just gotta know what your doing when you build it.
Drive my 01 wagon with original motor original internals and trans with 185k miles every day and still absolutely destroy anything that pulls up next to me, Takes me to work every day and kiddo to school. Has RS6 turbos the whole shabang. bought the turbos used rebuilt em and resealed motor cars had no issues. These are in a complete different world then evos, if you cant work on cars this car will kill your wallet. Agreed with everything but the end of the video.
How hard do you think it is to work on? Got a 02 s4 as a first car from my grandpa. Was supposed to get it in February but it’s almost October and we are tryna finish the air conditioning (at a shop). I’m hoping most of the knocks are out of the car but again anything can go wrong. When I get it I plan to get suspension tint and wheels and then maybe a tune and engine mods but I can’t afford a blown trans or engine
@5kdaking334 don't know much about the autos, but 6 spds are stout and take alot for them to shit the bed. It's not to bad as long as you stay on top of it. Don't let things go to long or they'll develop into bigger problems. That's awesome you keepin his car on the road bro. 🤘
@@thejacobhood17 Im an athlete so an auto as a daily was essential. I’ve seen mixed results on forums. People complain about them “being slow” compared to today. Coming from a moms 09 mini van idc as long as it doesn’t blow. Might Manuel swap it one day. I’m not exactly sure what’s done to the car my grandpa says “you’ll see” everytime I ask. But stage 1 power should be enough to keep up with my boys Imprezas brzs and focus’s sts 🤷🏽♂️. Proud German car of the group 💯

Bounty b5 for $2500. Spent over $10k in the first year upgrading and replacing the necessary. Great car until u meet stage 3 power…

@@thejacobhood17 What are your car's stats?
I can confirm. Bad maintenance on any 2.7 TT will ruin your life😂
European B5 S4's made 265bhp from the factory and 400Nm of torque. Plenty for a reliable daily driver.

More like 25-40k around here
