  • Welcome to Fat Guy Flies Rc!!
    This is the maiden and resulting CRASHES??? of my FMS Typhoon 1.1 m.
    Running a 3200 3s Spektrum Smart Lipo in her , not using the battery tray. The CG was better that way.
    I believe this crash was me using a faulty receiver that I had reprogramed from and older model.
    Damage was bent retract, crunched nose, broken prop, spinner, and maybe a bent shaft (lets hope not)
    Any how Thanks for watching my antics, Please like and subscribe!

      You and me both! The grass reached up and just held her in place the FIRST time. Now If only I had taken my advice and stopped there but NOOOO I just had to try again!!

    I have 1 of these. I had about a dozen flights under my belt and was getting used to flying it with the stabilizer switched on to compensate for turbulence etc. Then I didn't fly anything for about 2 months. I took this out when I was rusty after my absence. I was flying with the gyro turned off ( didn't realise ) .I was about to fly over my shoulder so I pulled a very tight banking turned , probably eased off the throttle a lot and so lost lots of airspeed. Mine did what yours did , spiralled into the ground very hard and broke the fuselage badly and smashed the prop and spinner. As you say lots of steam and glue and she is ready to go again. Has a few scares now that spoil those beautiful looks.

    Nice maiden , to bad off the 2 crashes but at least its stil flying 😀 hope you find the problem . It looks a reciever issue
    In the past I flown Fpv also with spektrum and also have issue with range
    So i bought the taranis tx problem solved
    I sold all my Rc stuff 2 a 3 years ago
    Now I started the Rc stuff again and I bought the Eflite F15 with the AS3x reciever
    Then you need a spektrum Tx
    I have the dx6i 😅 hope it wont give me range problems
    Anyway Good flying and up to the best remaiden of the year !!! 👍👍

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much. Understand I was not saying that this was the receivers fault, but my placement or my reprogramming of a Spektrum receiver . This plane "THINKS" its a Eflite Spitfire 1.2m. I am just not to sure I got it right. This is what happens when you rush things because you so excited about flying. I dont blame my equipment . I blame MY application and usage of my equipment. More testing clearly needed , not just a 45 foot electronic range test.

    I've watched the video three times now and to me it looks like you bank it too much for the speed you're carrying and it stalls causing it to fall out of the sky. It is so easy to do when you're not familiar with the model. I did it when I maidened my Corsair (it survived the crash) I did it again on the third flight but I had more altitude so I managed to level out at 15' above ground.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree with you completely. After a new spinner , prop and some TLC she has taken to the sky's again , Here: th-cam.com/video/OPdbEXzLldo/w-d-xo.html I have gotten better with my warbirds since this remaiden.

    I made a video on mine and That happen to me , the exact same way . I think I stalled it . these planes have to be flown with more than half throttle . and how did you get rid of the wrinkles on the plane ?

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it needs speed to keep it going stable. As far as the wrinkles I use a heat gun at range and let the hot air kiss the foam. The foam returns to its original form but then the gatoring is bad. Its a fine touch with the hot air to get the foam to expand back but not too much heat then you melt the foam.

      Yeah the rebuild will fun too. Gonna go through her with a fine tooth comb and really asses the damage and reorder any parts I cant fix. At the very least a new spinner and prop. I think I can repair the retract. I just hope the motor shaft is not bent, never have replaced one of them. Thanks for watching. Yes it was. Let me use the answer I gave to another viewer. I am not sure this was a problem with the receiver or my placement and reprogramming job. To be honest I am just about ready to only put the strong ar620 in planes that are PNP from now on. No real placement issues and strong range. Not Gyro but I am getting to were I don't care about that anymore either.

    • @jamesbird5486
      @jamesbird5486 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it possible to get another 5 mins with the 3200?

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well that's the problem , I set my timer to 5min even though I am sure I could fly much longer. Reason I do this is, I film and post all my flights and try to keep the flights shorter to keep peoples interest in the flight up . Too long a flight and people start skipping thru the vid to often and it become boring for them. Another benefit is, more often than not ,shorter flight time brings back the lipo at about 40 to 50% left which is where i like to store my lipos at. But to try to help you out , remove the battery tray and put in a velcro strip. plant that 3200 all the way down that sloped compartment and she will balance spot on. I would bet you could get a solid 10 minutes of flight with throttle management. But rune her for 5min at first land and check and them make a judgement call on how much longer. Never let that lipo get below 14% or 3 volts per cell. It could kill the lipo.
