This is after Episode III. That was Darth Maul and yes, he was cut in half in Ep I. There is a storyline in The Clone Wars series which tells of how Maul survives and becomes a crime lord. 🙂

"Is her conscious in the ship?"
You might remember a little line in The Empire Strikes Back when they are repairing the ship and C-3PO is talking to the Millennium Falcon's computer to figure out the damage.
"Sir, I don't know where your ship learned to communicate, but it has the most peculiar dialect."
Yeah, I think they are saying her consciousness remains in the ship.

Qi’ra leaving Han and Becketts betrayal are actually more important to Han’s development than some people realize. Remember he doesn’t know that Qi’ra decided to continue in the crime world so in his mind he believes that she never cared for him and betrayed him. Both events are the reason why Han is so different in the original trilogy. He isn’t as vibrant as he was in this film because of what both Qi’ra and Beckett did to him so he went with Becketts thing of not trusting anyone until he met Luke and Leia. Both the twins really changed him as a person and brought him back to his younger self.

I'm sure a zillion people have told you this, but SOLO takes place 22 years after 'Maul' was bisected. You'll learn how he's still around (on robot legs) if you ever watch THE CLONE WARS animated series.

In my opinion, this film gets a bad rap. This is a good film that tells the back story of Han and Chewie, and it has some great moments. Glad that you enjoyed the film, Quokka.
By the way, Donald Glover is putting together either a new Disney+ series or movie about Lando's adventures after Solo. We'll see what happens when this gets off the ground. On to Rogue One!

It's easy to see why it was polarizing - it told the "everyman" story, without the involvement of political dealings, lightsabers, the Jedi/Sith, or even the Force.
Maul's appearance to kind of remind everyone that space magic exists is anecdotal & inconsequential to the main story of Solo.

In the last part of the film, these landscapes of dunes and sand were filmed in Fuerteventura (Canary Islands, Spain). I´m from there and it´s barely changed for the film. A great holidays destination or to live.

This does indeed take place after the Prequels. About 10 after Revenge of the Sith and ~10 years before A New Hope.
The story of Darth Maul’s unlikely return and transformation into a galactic crime lord is told in the Clone Wars animated series.

Fin fact: Charlie Cox auditioned for the role of Solo, but didn't get it cause he didn't have eye contact with his co-lead. Reason being that he was so used to playing Daredevil (who, for those that don't know, is blind).

I love how at the recruiting station they play a major key version of the “Imperial March” in the background, that sounds heroic and triumphant and righteous, as the in universe Imperial theme song, where as the version we as viewers hear is always dominant and foreboding and dark.

This movie actually improves an element of one of the sequels. It highlights the golden dice 'Han' used to play the sabacc variant known as "Corellian Spike" with. It's seen very briefly in A NEW HOPE. 🎲 I love this movie! Of all the STAR WARS movies, I've seen this one most in cinemas. 🚀 Thanks, IcedQuokka!

  • @ARandomInternetUser08
    @ARandomInternetUser08 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Hearing the Imperial March never gets old, a "patriotic" version during that "join the empire" announcement speech and during the short fight before we got introduced to Beckett.
I now just realized that the reason why Han does that unique "hand shake into hug" thing in Empire Strikes Back is because he knows Lando cheats with cards hidden in his arm. He even did it in this movie too, and I think he took the cards Lando had and reversed it on him, using his own cheating tactics against him.
Holy crap is there an accidental Back To The Future easter egg in here? Han's pal is Needles? He's from BTTF 2 and 3, and Needles in this was the best street racer on Corellia. Guess what Needles was in BTTF: a person who raced on the street.
Seeing L3 die actually made me sad. Hearing her say "what's...happening...to...me......" was the saddest part. 😭😭
At least her memory is in the Falcon's navicomputer so she lives on, in a way.
There's also a lot of stuff in this movie that only start to make sense once you watch The Clone Wars, like Maul surviving, the crime syndicates, etc.
    Finally some Solo appreciation!

An interesting fact about this movie is Harrison Ford didn’t go to the premiere of the movie. He didn’t want to take any of the spotlight away from Alden. 1:27 yeah out of all the movies this one doesn’t spoil anything with the saga. “Rogue One” does have some about “A New Hope”. “Solo” and “Rogue One” are Anthology films separate from the Skywalker Saga. In the timeline this one takes place just before Rogue One. You’ll hear Enfys nest talk about Saw Guerra which is a rebel leader.

The Solo lore is that Han spent a short time in the Imperial Military. I believe he got to Captain before he was deployed to Kassykk (the Wookies planet from Revenge Of The Sith). He was one of the troopers who were ordered to subjugate the Wookies, and turn them into slave workers. He helped one of the Wookie slaves, Chewbacca, to freedom as he deserted. In return, a Wookie is required by custom to form a life debt bond with his rescuer. As such, Chewie made himself the defacto Chief of Security around Han, and his family; Leia, Luke etc. He vowed to give his life to protect Han.

Sam Witwer voiced Maul in this movie and during his return in Clone Wars. He was such a big Star Wars nerd that he helped ensure continuity wasn't broken. The producers wanted Maul to pull out his signature double bladed saber but Sam made it clear that he no longer had it and it should be a different saber.

The winter mountain location is in north Italy/south Austria. The desert location, island is one of the Canary Islands, west off Africa. The Cornelian shipyards, are in England, and digital ad's.
The mountains are the Dolomite range, northwest of Venice. During World War One, Italy fought the Austro-Hungary Empire, up to the top of mountains in battle. (allies Britain and France, and Germany support, fought, died in the battles too) I toured the region and battlefields in 2002, with a group of British and American's....based in the town of Asiago (where the cheese origin; cows eat mountain grass and herbs!) We went up to 7,500+ in altitude to one battlefield, where trenches were made out of rock, and cannons had to be brought up in pieces on horse or soldier. Ernest Hemingway drove a Red Cross ambulance in these mountains, and wrote about in "a farewell to arms". Downrange of these mountains are Lake Como, and Lake Guarda, where filming of Naboo was done for SW-2. The Dolomite Mountains were also filmed in the fantasy KRULL in the early 80's, and the Sylvester Stallone action from the 90's CLIFFHANGER.
There is a deleted scene, where Han is shown in training as an Imperial Pilot, and going up for court review, after an incident. Solo, if you notice in other films does talk the lingo of Empire Military, to gain access.

This movie was based on one part of a novel trilogy. It’s too bad that the initial theater release didn’t do well, the other two books were good and could have made good films. They included some characters from the OG Star Wars movies that Han had experience with before that time. They also had developed more of the relationship between Han and Lando. Since they won’t make the films, if you like to read, I recommend them.
    Love your videos! ✌️😎👍💕

Quokka did you see the Mandalorian armor in the office at the end, in the 1980s there was a rumor that Boba Fett was a woman, and that is why they didn't want Han to die in the carbon freezing chamber, i thought they were a past lover of Han's when i watched those movies in the 1980s, and Becket said he killed Aurra Singh, she was the nanny of young boba fett from Attack of the CLones, after his father was killed, so i thought that Qira took the armor after this and became Boba Fett that we saw in the movies from the 1980s

Yes. That is the BlasTech DL 44 Heavy Blaster Pistol that is Han Solo's signature weapon. Han would tweek and upgrade it several times throughout it's service to him.
Also Yes Chewy and Han are buddies but Han saved Chewy from captivity. That's a very big deal to Wookiees. At least in Legends... Chewy owed Han a life debt because of this. Best believe he stayed with Han to ALWAYS have his back.
What do they have against Droids? The answer. Droids replace organic workers. Why hire aan to work on your repair shop when you can make a purchase some sort of repair droid and never have to pay it? Why hire an administrator when a droid can do it? A nanny? A Cook or Bartender? There are droids that can do it. So while Droids are useful yes... They also can cause problems in that they take jobs from people who might otherwise be employed in their position.

Very painful production- Disney hired directors (Phil Lord and Christopher Miller) to do they did shtick but when he did it, Disney didn't like it, so they fired them, hired new director (Ron Howard) and pretty much re-filmed majority of the film while making revision of the film (oversimplified version), making it jumble of mess tried to be salvaged as well as it could be done. Result is bit uneven and mood changes and you can see how some scenes have different tempo and direction feel , but this film nothing compared later Disney Star Wars films, that... I cannot even describe (not without curse words to be honest). Young Lado Calrissian stole the show and the train heist was really good, so this does have it moments. All and all fun movie, but it doesn't really feel that Star Wars film to me.

It was OK. THEY could have a better actor to play HAN that actually LOOKED and sounded like him. The LANDO was good!! The guy they got for HAN was nothing like Harrison ford they could have done much better snd the movie would have been better

Excellent reaction yes I love me too. I’m one of the few that did the problem. Is this making out right after Star Wars episode eight the last Jedi, which is by far the worst Star Wars movie ever made it takes everything but Star Wars and throws up all over it, but don’t worry it’s still worth watching I guess but just watch the other stuff first I hope you’ve seen Already if you haven’t watched that first and try to watch the Mandalorian up to season through season three and hopefully silk before you watch the sequel trilogy episode 789 if you watch everything else before episode 78 and nine, then it won’t be as bad when you see it This movie solo takes place after episode three so Darth Maul supposed to be dead but he got cut in half and his mother is a witch of death Amir. She has magical powers they put droid legs on him and her magic resurrected he still alive and he’s the big boss of Crimson Dawn the second largest crime family only the Hutts are more powerful and crimson Dawn, if you watch Star Wars rebels, which is another animated series on Disney+ it takes place after a solo story after the clone wars before Soca before the Mandalorian actually before the original for the original trilogy 45 and 6 It Takes Pl. just before rogue one, actually the Star Wars rebels alliance And end up dying on tattling at the hands of why don’t spoil it for you but it’s really good. It’s called Star Wars rebels watch that someday some people run away from animation. This is not as good as the movies but trust me it’s better than sequel trilogy I don’t Seven good but it is very disappointing thanks for the fun until next time

I would say Rise of Skywalker is the worst one, but I haven't seen it so I have no idea. What I do know is that Last Jedi isn't as bad as people say it is. I don't believe it threw up on Star Wars, but you're welcome to your opinion.

The "intro" is that way because it's Disney not George Lucas. Just one of the several ways Disney is/has been ruining this franchise unfortunately.

In my opinion, Rogue One is the only tolerable and canon Disney Star Wars film. Also, consider watching The Matrix for your next reaction video. It's a timeless masterpiece.

Quokka, if you liked this movie, you might like the Star Wars Holiday Special, it was on cbs one friday night in 1978 or 9 , instead of an episode of the incredible Hulk tv show, they never released it on vhs or dvd, and people had to record it off tv and sold copies at comic book and star trek conventions in the 1980s , that is how i saw it, now it is on youtube, and if you watch it, make sure the video has a cartoon in the middle, some versions leave the cartoon out

Solo is very different but I think it's so good, definitely my favorite stand alone. To understand how Darth maul is alive you'll have to watch the clone wars season 4. I'm curious, what's been your favorite so far?

While I did like the movie, my problem with Solo was that I found every single other character more interesting than Han and I felt that Clarke picked up too many bad habits on Game of Thrones.

Solo is the perfect example of a movie that is kinda okay while you're watching it, but one day later you've forgotten every single scene. There is nothing great about it and nothing terrible, it's just mediocre in every way and thus extremely forgettable. Which might be enough for a "normal" movie, but for a Star Wars movie it's disappointing.

The only memorable scene from this movie is the 5 seconds we got with Darth Maul.
