@@tomfinn8076 I don't understand why they don't do the entire guitar in the same color - front, back, and sides. That's part of why cherry sunburst is such a popular and classic color, the back and sides are a red and match the top (minus the bust).
So 3 years after my uncle and I made a custom Les Paul mod based on a dark blue, they finally made one with that beautiful deep dark blue. It's a paint they should've done more commonly.
I was shocked to learn recently due to flooding in Florida that the Costa Rican Gibson cases are made out of particle board instead of wood where as the Canadian ones are made out of wood.
This guitar is awesome! I’ve been looking for a blue top, natural back like this for over a year. Thanks for getting it to me quickly and in perfect condition. It plays and sounds so good, glad I got it!
I purchased a similar used les paul custom shop back in 2010, and when it arrived in thr mail, the head was cracked. I was so close, but no cigar. It was so beautiful.
I was wondering about the Sugarbuckers... not on any guitars I can afford right now, but it's cool of Gibson to be open to having dealer exclusive pickups like that! Color reminds me of PRS Faded Blue (there's also a burst variant that adds a darker blue border) and yes it has a natural back.
You can still see the wood grain, it just needs a little light on it. I really like the reveal of it. It just looks like it could be black at first, but get it in the light, and you really appreciate the grain through the dark blue
Salutations Austin Nice Les Paul in Viper Blue! Natural back is my personal preference, although in the images that were shown in this video of the Viper Blue on the back just appears as if it were black, and it might actually look more attractive in person, you might do us all a great service, by reviewing that version of the Viper Blue Standard Les Paul, and then also get the exclusive Suger-bucker pickups installed for a full evaluation, thank you! Thanks for sharing! Please have an excellent and awesome day! ☀️✨🌟🎸
Love the ' Viper Blue ' finish , I like both the natural back and the Blue back yet I would choose the natural because I like the contrast ,and I like the woodgrain as Trog states ( I concur doctor ! ) , so is the ' Viper ' in reference to the terrible/cheesy Viper sports car...? Also , yeah a P-90 version would be cewl !...sounds loverly ! Thanks Trogly !
Man you are rockin' lately. Natural back for this nice Viper Blue for sure and you found a gorgeous example. Pickguard looks good on it, tames the blue. But the greenish yellow inlays that show up all the time now are hideous.
I prefer a natural back, scratchplate on, and always a toggle switch ring, aka a ‘poker chip,’ installed. Further, I also prefer the pickups and control knobs on the 50s Les Paul Standard, and if I buy a 60s, I will definitely have it changed and customised to my liking.
I've been wanting a Chicago Blue Les Paul Classic for quite a while now, but this top is equally as nice. Prefer the keystone tuners, though. Really dig it overall.
Imagine the UPS driver pulling up at his house every single day, working his ass off, knowing this guy is wearing his white socks in the basement waiting for more guitars to see if he can make a complaint about insufficient labor..
You can always trust FedEx to trash a shipping box. Smashed up one of mine with an expensive amp inside and didn’t even get my signature I paid extra for. Just tapped on the door and left.
No “real” candy in case candy bag. I got hooked on banana Laffy Taffy after receiving some with a PRS I bought from SW way back in 2007. Definitely natural finish.
Hey Trogly nice looking axe not to bad like the color and did you say Sugarbuckers? Leave the pick guard off thank you Very much. The neck looks thinner than usual. Plain backs are nice with the dancing flames.
Having worked at UPS, I really wish that any musical instrument company shipped in plain boxes...NO logos or identifying markings, whether it be guitars, drums, or harmonicas, for that matter! Otherwise, they're asking for trouble.
Hey, any idea on where I can buy an ABR-1 with notched saddles that also has a retention wire? I’ve been looking for a long time to no avail. Thank you 🙏🏻
Im torn. I prefer the look of the blue back but I feel like the natural back would probably play better. Atleast thats how I feel about my current les pauls.
I’d say it’s more of a collector piece and not a gigging guitar. But wonder what it would look like after being played regularly over time outside getting sweaty or inside smoky bars?
Great sounding and looking guitar! My vote is the blue back. If it was a darker shade of brown on the back I might be okay with it. On this one it was too light colored for me almost like an oak color. Hence my vote for the blue back but that's just me
With the blue top - natural. Would depend on top color. I have an ebony Epi LP with black back. I don't think natural back would look right with ebony top.
I think we've overdone the pickup thing. Not one person can tell the difference between a sugar bucker and a pro bucker or a 60s vintage or and number of the thousands of pickups on the market.

Blue
Natural, obviously 😂
Blue
Natural
Natural on this example
Natural back gets my vote on the Viper Blue.
Yeah I agree
Agree. That side profile looks really good. That's what you see while you're playing anyway.
@@tomfinn8076 I don't understand why they don't do the entire guitar in the same color - front, back, and sides.

Def ale natural
So 3 years after my uncle and I made a custom Les Paul mod based on a dark blue, they finally made one with that beautiful deep dark blue. It's a paint they should've done more commonly.
Also they should stain the natural wood a darker
Great natural back on that one, would love to see the top in an emerald green.
I was shocked to learn recently due to flooding in Florida that the Costa Rican Gibson cases are made out of particle board instead of wood where as the Canadian ones are made out of wood.
The natural back is classy 👌
those 61 burstbuckers are my favorite pickups so far that Gibson is making
They are nice aren't they.
That natural back you have is beautiful!! 😍
The natural back is striking!
Natural back makes the blue top really stand out and pop! Looks fantastic
natural back, always!
Love the Viper Blue, especially with the gorgeous natural back and neck. Eye candy for sure!!
This guitar is awesome! I’ve been looking for a blue top, natural back like this for over a year. Thanks for getting it to me quickly and in perfect condition. It plays and sounds so good, glad I got it!
My dream guitar right there. Seriously, I’ve always wanted a Les Paul in that blue with a light coloured back.
I purchased a similar used les paul custom shop back in 2010, and when it arrived in thr mail, the head was cracked. I was so close, but no cigar. It was so beautiful.
Got really close to pulling the trigger on the natural back, but they were back ordered!
Natural back with neck volute for the win
I was wondering about the Sugarbuckers... not on any guitars I can afford right now, but it's cool of Gibson to be open to having dealer exclusive pickups like that!
Color reminds me of PRS Faded Blue (there's also a burst variant that adds a darker blue border) and yes it has a natural back.
I like the deep blue with natural back! But I still love my 2009 LPGT with Orange Metal flake flames!
that natural back is beautiful, I prefer the natural and dyed colors compared to painted guitars.
I like the natural back and sides. Beautiful wood grain.
You can still see the wood grain, it just needs a little light on it.
I really like the reveal of it.
It just looks like it could be black at first, but get it in the light, and you really appreciate the grain through the dark blue
Natural back, no pick guard! 😊
100 % !
Salutations Austin
Nice Les Paul in Viper Blue!

0:16 - Two birds stoned at once!
What's wrong with the finish on the headstock? Looks like small to tiny water droplets, or paint overspray?
Was just about to ask this question too!
If you mean 6:10 I don’t think he’s wiped the headstock down yet so could be mist from his guitar polish or the fretboard oil he used.
My favorite color, that is a SWEET looking LP. Too rich for blood though, unfortunately. Thanks for showcasing it!
When I visited the Gibson Garage last year, I saw an Olive Drab Green LP with Zebra pickups. That’s the color I’d get.
These are one of those few that look better in pictures than in real life not that they're bad. And the accoustics in viper blue look much nicer.
you should still buy the sugarbuckers and install them in this guitar! i love this color! such a cool looking LP!
A cherry back on this thing would've been just insane!
Last time I dipped the Scotch a little too heavy before hitting Reverb, I “won” a beautiful 2007 National style-O resophonic. I feel for you bro!
Natural back all day
I got one of these from Sweetwater a few weeks ago. Its an awesome guitar. I opted for the blue back version because they only made 25 of them.
Man you are rockin' lately. Natural back for this nice Viper Blue for sure and you found a gorgeous example. Pickguard looks good on it, tames the blue. But the greenish yellow inlays that show up all the time now are hideous.
I like the natural backs on the 17 burst variations
But I prefer the dark back on these.
The brown is ok, but not with a vibrant blue top.
Oh wow I just got my Junior refinished in almost this exact color but metallic
Love that shade of blue with the natural back.
The color looks identical to epi "60s tribute +" I had in Midnight Sapphire ...gorgeous color
Blue back. But that natural is really good 👍
WoW !!
That is nice, very nice , and your idea for a Mod to Upgrade is great too very nice Mahogany and the Blue really makes that Maple
PoP !!
✌️😎👍🇳🇿

Love the back! Love the color & the pup's.
Love the natural back! 🤘🤘🤘
They should make the scratch plate see-through ABS
Oh wow, they made a LP version of my blue Aerodyne Stratocaster!
Isn't the Nashville style bridge supposed to be in the other way round?
Imagine the UPS driver pulling up at his house every single day, working his ass off, knowing this guy is wearing his white socks in the basement waiting for more guitars to see if he can make a complaint about insufficient labor..
Natty back is nice. Cool blue finish
Agreed. Very pretty!
Natural!
natural back with the blue top *chefs kiss*
You can always trust FedEx to trash a shipping box. Smashed up one of mine with an expensive amp inside and didn’t even get my signature I paid extra for. Just tapped on the door and left.
No “real” candy in case candy bag. I got hooked on banana Laffy Taffy after receiving some with a PRS I bought from SW way back in 2007. Definitely natural finish.
i like it with the cream and chrome natural back
Poor Trogly you're just going have to get another Gibson poor guy 😔
That colour with natural back is giving me strong PRS vibes, especially without the pickguard.
Not that there's anything wrong with that.
Natural back. Beautiful guitar!
I have three blue guitars, and now I want this one, too.
I'm a sucker for a blue guitar regardless of the maker, and matched with that natural back makes that one a keeper for sure!
Hey Trogly nice looking axe not to bad like the color and did you say Sugarbuckers? Leave the pick guard off thank you
Very much. The neck looks thinner than usual. Plain backs are nice with the dancing flames.
My choice: The viper blue with natural back and sides. (It looks absolutely brilliant!) I’d prefer a maple neck with rosewood fretboard though.
People hate seeing natural woodgrain?
Yeah I know they do, but I love seeing woodgrain on many things, especially guitars and basses.
It looks good on lawnmowers too
😉
A Natural Back is for me! WooF!!🐶🐶
Blue back, change the plastics to black and fit black reflector knobs
The back colour for me, it depends on the front colour. Red or reddish front red back. Yellow ,gold front, natural back and so on.
Meh. I'll keep my iced tea burst 60s Standard. Who needs a BLUE Les Paul? Meh.
It sounds better than a lot of expensive custom shop reissues 😮
Natural is classy. Like my SE Custom quilted charcoal Sweetwater Special Edition.
A black pickguard would look nice on that one
The back of that one is fantastic.
I HATE FedEx! Ordered a $2700 Gibson and it arrived with the box completely torn apart. Luckily, the GIBSON case withstood the ABUSE.
Having worked at UPS, I really wish that any musical instrument company shipped in plain boxes...NO logos or identifying markings, whether it be guitars, drums, or harmonicas, for that matter! Otherwise, they're asking for trouble.
Has Gibson ever made a Transparent Gold Top Les Paul.
Sugarbuckers same specs as Seymour Duncan Saturday Night Specials?
Hey, any idea on where I can buy an ABR-1 with notched saddles that also has a retention wire? I’ve been looking for a long time to no avail. Thank you 🙏🏻
When did Gibson start making their Les Paul Standards with 2 piece mahogany backs?
What a great blue!
The blue back is cool but the natural for some reason pops the back is awesome 👍
LUVIT... baby got natural back! ❤
blue back for me! pick guard off...always!
Natural back is my favourite.
Im torn. I prefer the look of the blue back but I feel like the natural back would probably play better. Atleast thats how I feel about my current les pauls.
Mannnn, I'm team natural back and no pick guard because that top is gorgeous 😍😍😍
I’d say it’s more of a collector piece and not a gigging guitar. But wonder what it would look like after being played regularly over time outside getting sweaty or inside smoky bars?
Fantastic color combo!
Great sounding and looking guitar! My vote is the blue back. If it was a darker shade of brown on the back I might be okay with it. On this one it was too light colored for me almost like an oak color. Hence my vote for the blue back but that's just me
I vote natural back on that guitar. I would however be happy if we're a stained back or a reddish brown if it were available
awesome natural back!
Natural back for me. I like the blue top!
I love this blue and the natural back
Sounds as good as it looks, excellent tones! Natural.
When can we hear the "sugarbucker"???
Sweetwater probably really checks out their special orders
You ought to buy the sugarbuckers and put them in that guitar!
Natural back for me btw
Would that 50s P90 model not need gold hardware as well to be a proper Blueshawk?
I thought that sounded great. What were you using for an amp?
Call me old school, i like a pick guard on Pauls
Old school . 🏫
Natural back 💯 on this one. Blue would be too much.
Natural back. Not sure why people dig the black back when you got all that natural wood grain !
