The issue was caused by the mother herself and the incompetence of the home office. The mother came on a visitors visa and wilfully overstayed with the intention of remaining in the UK illegally. However, had the home office acted early on and deported them the issue wouldn’t have dragged on. After the daughter had been in the UK for so many years it would have been unfair to send her back and it would also be unfair to send the mother back and have the daughter without a parent.
