I was the same age as these kids. Our teacher used to joke if we got something wrong “oh you’ll have me shot at dawn you lot!” The day after she came in the classroom sobbing and said “I will never say those words ever again” I met her a few years ago and she said it was the worst time of her life and that if this had happened at our school she would have given her life to save every one of us.

My little girl was the same age as these little chicks who were robbed of their lives by someone who I won’t name. When the picture of the class was in the paper a little girl stood out to me as she was so very much like my daughter. It still gives me the shivers now. Thank you for such a sensitive and detailed account. This tragic incident really resonated with me as I was teaching a class of the same age children at that time. Such a waste of so many innocent and precious lives.
Also, Tennis champion Andy Murray and his brother Jamie attended Dunblane and were both in attendance on that day (they hid in another classroom). Murray also mentioned in his autobiography how his mother used to give Hamilton lifts.

I would have happily gone to jail to stop that bastard. I watched a close friend's marriage fall apart and her go through hell because of Hamilton. Whether you believe me or not, I couldn't care less, but I can assure you very many lives were changed that day and not for the better. I won't publish names, as I have too much respect for my friend and her family.
I remember this. I was 26 and totally in shock at how anyone could shoot innocent children, especially as in happened in the U.K. - it wasn’t the usual type of crime. I remember hearing about this as an 11 year old and being totally bewildered by it. A month later here in Australia we had the Port Arthur Massacre. It changed my world view drastically.
There is no reason to own a gun. I can understand being a hobbyist, but it is very difficult, if not impossible, to definitively separate a hobbyist from a future mass murderer. This person was creepy, but never had done anything to suggest that he would react as he did. Indeed, if I were to have even considered that he might "snap" I wouldn't think that he would take it out on five year olds.

I have a relative who was involved in running church groups in the area for many years and knew Hamilton. They said that there were rumours and reports about him going back 25 years , but nothing ever happened because I quote 'he had friends in the right places.' Sadly that seems to have been par for the course back in the 70's and 80''s....
Imagine being given the duty of telling the parents, on the day that it happened, that their child is dead. I would rather die myself than have to deliver that news to a parent.

It's possible, in his twisted mind, that they were responsible, in the same way as domestic abusers blame their victims for their own actions. He seems also to be narcissistic, in his letter to the Queen (???) he speaks only of the effect on himself, showing no concern whatsoever for those in his care or their right to a safe and nurturing environment.
Maybe he was 'thinking' something like this: "All the people who suspect me of wanting to hurt kids, I'll show you what REAL hurt looks like. This is all your fault, you drove me to it. You're to blame."

I have vague memories of this. I was about their age, and all I can remember is it feeling odd. The teachers seemed a bit odd (as in, twitchy) and then when we left school my mom properly held me and my sister. More than usual. We were hundreds of miles away, and I don't think a parent or teacher wasn't affected by this that day and the days afterwards.

I live only a couple of miles away in Bridge of Allan and know many people whose lives were affected by this tragedy. Even my neighbour’s son had experienced his strange behaviour in the scouts. Thankfully this has been an isolated incident in this country, but it’s significance on the local community has never diminished.
It's really not as bad as it looks, due to the size of our country and the large population. Like, 10-20 times more people die choking on food every year.
I remember watching this as a documentary on TV a while ago. I feel for the families of these victims as they wanted to get the answers as why their children and teacher was killed in cold blood along with others was wounded. They was babies, they didn't know what was going on at the time. Thank you for doing this sensitive topic and try to help the families of the fallen angels to get some closure and answers if possible. Heartbreaking to learn more about these horrible events.

There are still questions to be answered as to why he was allowed to retain his gun licence even after his gun club informed the police of their doubts of his mental state.
Sadly, in those days once an individual was considered acceptable for a firearm license that became the default setting. To the authorities he did the unthinkable and the impossible. I think that the 'lock' on the Cullen report is to cover-up the authorities incompetence rather than some nebulous 'freemason conspiracy'. He had actually gone crazy and held some of them at gun point on more than one occasion. The burden of proof needed to deny someone a firearm is much lower than that at criminal trial. My guess is the police had an extensive file on his inappropriate relations with young boys as well. Sounds to me like someone powerful in the Scottish establishment was looking out for him.

The potential links Hamilton had probably explained why after having his firearms confiscated after holding members of his local club at gun point. He appealed to the chief constable who told them to give them back. Under the existing laws there was more than enough cause to deny Hamilton his firearms. The local police who licensed him would have been well aware of his history with young boys and had multiple witnesses at his gun club. The burden of proof to deny someone a firearm is much lower than the standards in criminal court. The fact is no new gun legislation was needed, there was already ample laws in place to keep people like Hamilton away from firearms but they were not applied. The same with the weirdo in Plymouth in 2020 - he assaulted two boys in the park. The police took away his shotgun and then gave it back even though they were well within their rights to confiscate it permanently and revoke his certificate. Derek Byrd in Cumbria likewise was under criminal investigation for tax evasion at the time. I forget his name now, the man who committed the Hungerford massacre - he would probably have not been stopped. About the only thing people said about him was that he had an unnatural relationship with his mother. Brevik in Norway to. He was "odd" but nothing that would have prevented him from being licensed although oddly enough social services in Norway knew he had been horrifically emotionally abused by his mother - a fact which was suppressed at his trial for the sake of her "dignity" even though that witch created the worst mass killer in Norwegian history. I remember this. I was young but at roughly the same time there was a machete attack on a school in my home town and after that I remember there being more stringent security measures at my school. They improved the fence, the doors and would lock the gates except at certain times of day.
Michael Ryan was his name. I remember the machete attack, it was in the Wolverhampton area wasn't it? These things stick in your mind forever. Most schools started locking their doors and gates after those incidents.

You should look into the Bogota mass shooting of 1986, a crazy story that is obscure and not related to the ongoing civil war etc in Colombia at those times but buried by that violence. It's actually a standalone event
Looking at the faces of those children, and thinking of what that monster did to them sickens me on a level that I haven't felt since the Sandy Hook massacre. I'm convinced that this narcissist blamed all of his woes on the children (which is typical of people like him), and not on his actions towards young boys in the past. In his mind, he was the real victim.
My aunt and uncle's surname is Hamilton and this event was so appalling that it was necessary for them to change their name for ridicule, hate and persecution it could have caused. In fact my aunt's father who died in 1992 had the same name Thomas Hamilton. I can't imagine if he was still alive in 1996 when this happened how it would have affected him.
One thing you failed to mention was that apparently Hamilton had intended to enter the school earlier while the whole school was gathered in the assembly hall. If he had done so many more innocent lives would have been lost! If that had happened, among them may have been one boy who went on to win at Wimbledon, one Andrew Murray!
On a couple of trips to the US I spoke with quite a number of US Police Officers regarding mass murders by gunmen. They have an unwritten policy of not referring to the offenders by name, after all, in general they crave publicity. Instead they are referred as the 'Murderer of.......' or the 'Perpetrator of ....killings', They said they prefer to refer to the victims by their names, so they are never forgotten. The murderer, whether dead or living is therefore deprived of the oxygen of publicity.
Thankfully my Dad had his shooting guns taken after gun laws became stricter due to this awful incident. He once held a shotgun to his mothers head in a standoff with police, I thankgod he didnt kill us all that day, I was very young.
I come from Dunfermline, not far from Dunblane. My dad’s colleague, who worked for BT, was in charge of installing more telephone lines at the school that day so that people could call from all over the world. My dad’s friend’s son attended the school and gun shots were being fired at his classroom window from the gymnasium. The poor boy wet himself for weeks after the incident due to the trauma. I, along with my friends at Dunfermline High School, started a petition to ban handguns in the UK and sent the petition off to Downing Street. I’ll never forget when the news broke and my mother and I watched in horror and utter disbelief. We couldn’t believe it was all happening near to us. Shootings are unheard of in this part of Scotland. My brother and I paid a visit to the school, and, although it’s all in the past, and the school has moved on since then, you couldn’t help but feel utter sadness for all the wee children who had lost their lives and their heroic teacher.
I remember seeing police officers looking very emotional at the scene and back then you didn’t see stuff like that and it made you realise what they must’ve seen. I was 18 at the time and years away from being a parent. Now as a parent of 6 year old twins this is more poignant and upsetting than ever
This incident doesn't get discussed that much in the UK, except when it comes up in profiles of Andy Murray who was a pupil there when it happened. It's in the category of those events like the Chatham bus disaster and Aberfan that are so hideous we collectively try to forget about them. This one is particularly awful because it was deliberate.
I was the same age as these kids. Both my parents were journalists. When it happened my dad told my mum to take the day off to “sort the house” for our move to the country. He also cancelled the paper round that day. He didn’t want her to see the story.

When people start to understand that we should be protecting schools better than we protect government facilities, that we should arm security within schools... where does a gunman go? A rifle range? A city where the populous is typically armed to the teeth? No, they will go to a vulnerable facility, through the path of least resistance..

I believe (with respect to all these incidents) in the US the culture of "me, me, me" creates a situation where typically the shooter goes on a rampage for political, social, selfish reasons where they want the spotlight and to be remembered as "important". In the UK people tend to be more anonymous and just want to live their best lives. Maybe that's why this man (piece of human sh!t) simply went in and did what he did then offed himself. Soft target. Only an unarmed, untrained teacher to confront him. A decade before this, my high school in the US had metal detectors and security at the doors. No one got in without being screened.
As an American, I appreciate that their community came together to make their government pass the strict gun laws. He lived in my neighbourhood. I was in primary 6 at the time of the shooting, but in Stirling. It's a really creepy feeling knowing that this guy was walking about our youth club organisations back then. I went to the scouts in St. Ninians around the time too. I still remember the little white coffins being driven by our house.

I remember the sports shooting events at the 2012 London Olympics originally could not take place in the UK until the government gave a special permit for them to be held in an army barracks under strict security by the military.

The military decided that I didn't have a "need" to qualify with the M-16. (That, despite the ever-present danger of being invaded and overrun by North Korea.) But the average 18-year-old civilian--who can't even buy a legal drink--can legally buy an AR-15 or AK-47. Why does a civilian have more of a "need" to shoot a quasi-military weapon than I did in the military? We have truly taken leave of our sense in America.

Me & my wife are from nelson in lancashire & we stayed at the old church in dunblane for new year eve hogmanay in 2019 & we went to the cemetery & primary school & we looked at each of the headstones of the children & Mrs mayor as a mark of respect & we 10:07 laid a big bunch of flowers down on Mrs mayors resting place as a gesture of love for them all ❤️ xx
It's been 26 years. At the time I was a child myself. In the wake of such a sad event, I am proud of the people of Britain who made the government strengthen gun laws.

My mother was a head teacher in a primary school about 2 miles from Dunblane. When this was all going on nobody knew Hamilton had killed himself. My mother was told to bolt the school doors in case he had planned to attack more than Dunblane PS. An absolutely horrific event which no matter how hard you try you'll never begin to comprehend the impact it had on Dunblane and the surrounding areas.
It is dumbfounding that it only took one school shooting in the UK to pass the highest, most extreme gun law ever. We have a mass shooting somewhere in the US every week, or more often than that. We are still reeling from the massacre of numerous kindergarten children (ages 5 & 6) in Southern Texas very recently. The police response was pitiful. The first officer arrived 3 minutes after the shooting started. Parents and other citizens arrive to find the police and other 1st responders outside. People BEGGED the police to go in to the school, and 1 hour & 14 minutes later, when the SWAT team was ready, they finally did. Even the parents were threatened with arrest if they tried to go in before SWAT finally arrived to lead the way. Despite this, one woman, who ended up getting in to the school, was able to rescue both of he’d children from two different classes. What is so frustrating is that no major change or tightening up of the gun laws have even been brought before the court. The NRA is very active here in the USA. Especially in the Republican Party. I don’t own a gun but my ex-husband did. He hunted with his, however. He didn’t own any automatic or semi automatic weapons, or even a hand gun. I hope this country can pass even just one law related to this. Keep your fingers crossed 🤞
I was 12 when this happened my mum is Scottish although we live in England , I remember this being allover the news and it really effecting my mum greatly. She was deeply upset about it. He was pure evil. The image at 4:20 gives me the shivers. You can see he’s having sick thoughts about those kids.

To understand it the people of Dunblane should force the release of the investigation that has an access restriction for 100 years (2096 it can be released). These days in Scotland, you need a licence to own an air rifle. Meanwhile London has a serious problem with pistols, because wierdly criminals don't bother with licences. Fortunately, schools all over the UK started taking security seriously. Until then, entry gates were left open all day, CCTV was rare, there really was nothing to stop loonies wandering in off the streets.

Yeah. The air rifle licensing came in because a small boy was killed with one. It's fairly easy to get an air rifle or a shotgun though. You just have to provide justification, not have a criminal record or history of violence. Justification is needed but it's just to prevent them being in the cities, in the countryside all the farmers have guns and hunters can keep rifles in a club or hire them for hunting.
I remember seeing this on the news when it happened. I had just turned 11 a few weeks before and can remember from what I had seen, being scared to go to school the next day. It is something I will never ever forget and those poor defenceless children will never be forgotten.

Owning guns is not a fundamental right. Only north Americans think that and that's why there is a school shooting once a week on average and a mass shooting is almost a daily occurrence. Each year in America more people are killed by guns than all the American fatalities in the Vietnam war. Guns are not a right. What is a right is being able to send your kids to school and have them return alive at days end.
My son was 2 months old when this happened. I just watched the news cuddling him and sobbing my heart out, wondering what had I done bringing a child into this world. 😭😭😭

Our teacher used to joke if we got something wrong “oh you’ll have me shot at dawn you lot!” The day after she came in the classroom sobbing and said “I will never say those words ever again” I met her a few years ago and she said it was the worst time of her life and that if this had happened at our school she would have given her life to save every one of us.

When the picture of the class was in the paper a little girl stood out to me as she was so very much like my daughter. It still gives me the shivers now. Also, Tennis champion Andy Murray and his brother Jamie attended Dunblane and were both in attendance on that day (they hid in another classroom). Murray also mentioned in his autobiography how his mother used to give Hamilton lifts.

I remember hearing about this as an 11 year old and being totally bewildered by it. A month later here in Australia we had the Port Arthur Massacre. It changed my world view drastically.

There is no reason to own a gun. I can understand being a hobbyist, but it is very difficult, if not impossible, to definitively separate a hobbyist from a future mass murderer. This person was creepy, but never had done anything to suggest that he would react as he did. Indeed, if I were to have even considered that he might "snap" I wouldn't think that he would take it out on five year olds.
Brilliantly and sensitively made account. Making this video documentary clearly took immense emotional strength and it was a perfect tribute in memory of those who so unfairly lost their lives.
I have a relative who was involved in running church groups in the area for many years and knew Hamilton. They said that there were rumours and reports about him going back 25 years , but nothing ever happened because I quote 'he had friends in the right places.' Sadly that seems to have been par for the course back in the 70's and 80''s....

It's possible, in his twisted mind, that they were responsible, in the same way as domestic abusers blame their victims for their own actions. He seems also to be narcissistic, in his letter to the Queen (???) he speaks only of the effect on himself, showing no concern whatsoever for those in his care or their right to a safe and nurturing environment.
Maybe he couldn't reach the targets that he wanted to shoot so he instead took out his frustration on the people that he could reach: innocent people.
Maybe he was 'thinking' something like this: "All the people who suspect me of wanting to hurt kids, I'll show you what REAL hurt looks like. This is all your fault, you drove me to it. You're to blame."

I have vague memories of this. I was about their age, and all I can remember is it feeling odd. The teachers seemed a bit odd (as in, twitchy) and then when we left school my mom properly held me and my sister. More than usual. We were hundreds of miles away, and I don't think a parent or teacher wasn't affected by this that day and the days afterwards.
My father went to that school back in the 30's, I remember this hitting him very hard.

I live only a couple of miles away in Bridge of Allan and know many people whose lives were affected by this tragedy. Even my neighbour’s son had experienced his strange behaviour in the scouts. Thankfully this has been an isolated incident in this country, but it’s significance on the local community has never diminished.
I was 9yrs old in Crieff Primary 18miles away and we got sent home that morning not knowing why until we got home. It was frightening

I feel for the families of these victims as they wanted to get the answers as why their children and teacher was killed in cold blood along with others was wounded. They was babies, they didn't know what was going on at the time. Thank you for doing this sensitive topic and try to help the families of the fallen angels to get some closure and answers if possible. Heartbreaking to learn more about these horrible events.

There are still questions to be answered as to why he was allowed to retain his gun licence even after his gun club informed the police of their doubts of his mental state.
Sadly, in those days once an individual was considered acceptable for a firearm license that became the default setting. To the authorities he did the unthinkable and the impossible.
I think that the 'lock' on the Cullen report is to cover-up the authorities incompetence rather than some nebulous 'freemason conspiracy'. Let's not forget that this tragedy was only 7 years after Hillsborough ... and look what lengths they took to cover-up police incompetence then.

He had actually gone crazy and held some of them at gun point on more than one occasion. The burden of proof needed to deny someone a firearm is much lower than that at criminal trial. My guess is the police had an extensive file on his inappropriate relations with young boys as well. Sounds to me like someone powerful in the Scottish establishment was looking out for him.

His neighbours statement said it all. He wasn't a loner at all. He had numerous male visitors daily and they were all suited and booted. Men higher up knew him very well,it's absolutely disgraceful how they knew he was a danger to children yet did nothing.
The potential links Hamilton had probably explained why after having his firearms confiscated after holding members of his local club at gun point. He appealed to the chief constable who told them to give them back. Under the existing laws there was more than enough cause to deny Hamilton his firearms. The local police who licensed him would have been well aware of his history with young boys and had multiple witnesses at his gun club. The burden of proof to deny someone a firearm is much lower than the standards in criminal court. The fact is no new gun legislation was needed, there was already ample laws in place to keep people like Hamilton away from firearms but they were not applied.
The same with the weirdo in Plymouth in 2020 - he assaulted two boys in the park. The police took away his shotgun and then gave it back even though they were well within their rights to confiscate it permanently and revoke his certificate. Derek Byrd in Cumbria likewise was under criminal investigation for tax evasion at the time. I forget his name now, the man who committed the Hungerford massacre - he would probably have not been stopped. About the only thing people said about him was that he had an unnatural relationship with his mother. Brevik in Norway to. He was "odd" but nothing that would have prevented him from being licensed although oddly enough social services in Norway knew he had been horrifically emotionally abused by his mother - a fact which was suppressed at his trial for the sake of her "dignity" even though that witch created the worst mass killer in Norwegian history.
I remember this. I was young but at roughly the same time there was a machete attack on a school in my home town and after that I remember there being more stringent security measures at my school. They improved the fence, the doors and would lock the gates except at certain times of day.

My aunt and uncle's surname is Hamilton and this event was so appalling that it was necessary for them to change their name for ridicule, hate and persecution it could have caused. In fact my aunt's father who died in 1992 had the same name Thomas Hamilton. I can't imagine if he was still alive in 1996 when this happened how it would have affected him.

If he had done so many more innocent lives would have been lost! If that had happened, among them may have been one boy who went on to win at Wimbledon, one Andrew Murray!

On a couple of trips to the US I spoke with quite a number of US Police Officers regarding mass murders by gunmen. They have an unwritten policy of not referring to the offenders by name, after all, in general they crave publicity. Instead they are referred as the 'Murderer of.......' or the 'Perpetrator of ....killings', They said they prefer to refer to the victims by their names, so they are never forgotten.
The murderer, whether dead or living is therefore deprived of the oxygen of publicity.

I was almost 14 and I still remember crying and seeing both of my parents cry and they never cried.
I come from Dunfermline, not far from Dunblane. My dad’s colleague, who worked for BT, was in charge of installing more telephone lines at the school that day so that people could call from all over the world.
My dad’s friend’s son attended the school and gun shots were being fired at his classroom window from the gymnasium. The poor boy wet himself for weeks after the incident due to the trauma.
I, along with my friends at Dunfermline High School, started a petition to ban handguns in the UK and sent the petition off to Downing Street.
I’ll never forget when the news broke and my mother and I watched in horror and utter disbelief. We couldn’t believe it was all happening near to us. Shootings are unheard of in this part of Scotland.
My brother and I paid a visit to the school, and, although it’s all in the past, and the school has moved on since then, you couldn’t help but feel utter sadness for all the wee children who had lost their lives and their heroic teacher.

This incident doesn't get discussed that much in the UK, except when it comes up in profiles of Andy Murray who was a pupil there when it happened. It's in the category of those events like the Chatham bus disaster and Aberfan that are so hideous we collectively try to forget about them. This one is particularly awful because it was deliberate.

I was the same age as these kids. Both my parents were journalists. When it happened my dad told my mum to take the day off to “sort the house” for our move to the country. He also cancelled the paper round that day. He didn’t want her to see the story.

He lived in my neighbourhood. I was in primary 6 at the time of the shooting, but in Stirling. It's a really creepy feeling knowing that this guy was walking about our youth club organisations back then. I went to the scouts in St. Ninians around the time too. I still remember the little white coffins being driven by our house.
He was protected by members of:The Scottish-establishment,including:Ex-ACC,Douglas McMurdo.
McMurdo was,partially,responsible for this massacre,as he:authorised the renewal of Hamiltons FAC-license:allowing him to legitimately,buy:two more handguns,as well as not penalising him for:illegally,owning,two other guns with,no license.
He overruled his own police-force(Central)
Thats how he got away with it.
Hamilton was even banned from other gun-clubs & they hated his guts & reported him to the police too,after he showed the other men at his,club: pictures of semi-naked boys (In a swimming-pool:-)in an unhealthy,manner.
No one liked the bastard,despite the lies that,that cow:Gillian Marshall-Andrews,came out with,about his fellow,club-members:encouraging him to shoot,in an undisciplined,way,etc.
The Snowdrop Campaign should have gone after this lot & not:legitimate,gun-owners.
I remember a documentary done on this incident where the gun laws in UK become very strict after this tragedy.
I remember the sports shooting events at the 2012 London Olympics originally could not take place in the UK until the government gave a special permit for them to be held in an army barracks under strict security by the military.
@@Ozymandias1 Glad to see that SOME country has the balls to control weapons. I served in the US military, and before I was deployed to South Korea, I was only allowed to qualify with the .38 pistol. The military decided that I didn't have a "need" to qualify with the M-16. (That, despite the ever-present danger of being invaded and overrun by North Korea.) But the average 18-year-old civilian--who can't even buy a legal drink--can legally buy an AR-15 or AK-47. Why does a civilian have more of a "need" to shoot a quasi-military weapon than I did in the military? We have truly taken leave of our sense in America.
@@Gail1Marie I'm guessing your military occupation didn't need to require more than qualification with a .38, which hasn't been in service for years, so times change. Also, your opinion doesn't trump other's rights. I also don't see the word "need" in the 2A. Deal with it.

Me & my wife are from nelson in lancashire & we stayed at the old church in dunblane for new year eve hogmanay in 2019 & we went to the cemetery & primary school & we looked at each of the headstones of the children & Mrs mayor as a mark of respect & we 10:07 laid a big bunch of flowers down on Mrs mayors resting place as a gesture of love for them all ❤️ xx
It's been 26 years. At the time I was a child myself. In the wake of such a sad event, I am proud of the people of Britain who made the government strengthen gun laws.
Laws were likewise changed in Australia & here in NZ after terrible mass shootings.
@@DoubleMonoLR I wish the same thing happens here in the US, but the Republicans and the National Rifle Association keep blocking the efforts, citing the Second Amendment, saying it will infringed people's right to bear arms.
@@arnoldhenry Yes, I always wonder why the 'right' to bear arms (old-fashioned and targeted at aggression towards Native Americans in the first place) is worth more than the life of America's children? My friend was killed in New York by a stray bullet which came through his hotel room window. Maybe if that happened to the sons and daughters of the NRA they might value life more highly?
@@fluffyfour I wonder that, also. All of those people would react differently if those incidents happen to someone in their family. The school shootings, I wonder if these politicians and the NRA uppers would react if someone with an AR-15 on full-auto came to one of those high-priced private schools they send their kids to evade the violence and start killing. I wonder if they would react if it happens to them.
@@fluffyfour your assessment of our 2nd amendment is wholly incorrect. The right to bear arms protects us, the citizens against a tyrannical government take-over. It's a system of checks and balances that ensures that our government will never be able to trample on our rights or subject us to totalitarian rule.
My mother was a head teacher in a primary school about 2 miles from Dunblane. When this was all going on nobody knew Hamilton had killed himself. My mother was told to bolt the school doors in case he had planned to attack more than Dunblane PS. An absolutely horrific event which no matter how hard you try you'll never begin to comprehend the impact it had on Dunblane and the surrounding areas.
It is dumbfounding that it only took one school shooting in the UK to pass the highest, most extreme gun law ever. We have a mass shooting somewhere in the US every week, or more often than that. We are still reeling from the massacre of numerous kindergarten children (ages 5 & 6) in Southern Texas very recently. The police response was pitiful. The first officer arrived 3 minutes after the shooting started. Parents and other citizens arrive to find the police and other 1st responders outside. People BEGGED the police to go in to the school, and 1 hour & 14 minutes later, when the SWAT team was ready, they finally did. Even the parents were threatened with arrest if they tried to go in before SWAT finally arrived to lead the way. Despite this, one woman, who ended up getting in to the school, was able to rescue both of he’d children from two different classes.
What is so frustrating is that no major change or tightening up of the gun laws have even been brought before the court. The NRA is very active here in the USA. Especially in the Republican Party. I don’t own a gun but my ex-husband did. He hunted with his, however. He didn’t own any automatic or semi automatic weapons, or even a hand gun. I hope this country can pass even just one law related to this. Keep your fingers crossed 🤞

I was 12 when this happened my mum is Scottish although we live in England , I remember this being allover the news and it really effecting my mum greatly. She was deeply upset about it. He was pure evil.

“Evil visited this town - we don’t know why, we don’t understand it and I guess we never will” said by I believe the head teacher the day after. To understand it the people of Dunblane should force the release of the investigation that has an access restriction for 100 years (2096 it can be released). I do believe the killers friends and associates in higher office in his behaviour may be contained in the investigation. For heaven’s sake he saw fit to write to the Queen to explain how he was being mistreated in the Scouts rejection of him. Who does that if they don’t know people??

These days in Scotland, you need a licence to own an air rifle. Meanwhile London has a serious problem with pistols, because wierdly criminals don't bother with licences.
Fortunately, schools all over the UK started taking security seriously. Until then, entry gates were left open all day, CCTV was rare, there really was nothing to stop loonies wandering in off the streets.
I see what you mean. The coward police in uvalde Texas are all over the news this week because of their inaction. And yet every single weekend in Chicago this thing is happening. But because they're not suburban kids it doesn't make it all over the news and nobody gets any outrage up.
Yeah. The air rifle licensing came in because a small boy was killed with one. It's fairly easy to get an air rifle or a shotgun though. You just have to provide justification, not have a criminal record or history of violence. Justification is needed but it's just to prevent them being in the cities, in the countryside all the farmers have guns and hunters can keep rifles in a club or hire them for hunting.

I remember seeing this on the news when it happened. I had just turned 11 a few weeks before and can remember from what I had seen, being scared to go to school the next day.
It is something I will never ever forget and those poor defenceless children will never be forgotten.
My son was 5 years old when this happened and at infant school . After this tragedy they put special locks on all the door that allowed you into the school .xxxx

Owning guns is not a fundamental right. Only north Americans think that and that's why there is a school shooting once a week on average and a mass shooting is almost a daily occurrence. Each year in America more people are killed by guns than all the American fatalities in the Vietnam war. Guns are not a right. What is a right is being able to send your kids to school and have them return alive at days end.
My son was 2 months old when this happened. I just watched the news cuddling him and sobbing my heart out, wondering what had I done bringing a child into this world. 😭😭😭

I was the same age as most of the lil kids. Just turned 5. They would have been in their early 30s now. What a monster.
