- You might have seen this paint before without realizing. It's been used in the "Harry Potter," "James Bond" and "Star Wars" films - and this factory makes over 15,000 liters of it every month. This is Mylands. It's the last remaining paint factory in London and one of the oldest family-owned paint manufacturers in the world.

This paint better save my house during a tornado
Why didn't you show the paint on an actual wall???
checkysucks because it is used widely by other professionals?
i mean, they showed a few swatches...
1:40 - I can watch that all day.
I can't
get a job there and you will get paid to watch it.
Because of watercolor, I found out that there are pigments that are actually nearing extinction because of pigment manufacturers that completely stopped production, with paint companies buying all the remaining supply. It’s so interesting, and I don’t quite understand why the pigment can’t be recreated, but lookup Quinacridone Gold if you have the time.
It's not that it can't be recreated, it's just not profitable on the scale of art supplies.. we're at the bottom of the pigment chain unfortunately
When you thought u were well off but u realized u don’t have luxury paint 😢
Can't relate.. i never thought i was rich🤠😔
?
If you think you're rich you're probably not. If you think you're broke you're probably rich. Thats just how it works for some reason lmao
@@messiahcomplex1 I think I’m broke and I am in fact broke :(

This is the first time I’m hearing about luxury paint. What exactly does it do specially/luxuriously? Does it dry fast? Does it give better odor? What’s does it do that the ordinary paint can’t?
It’s pretty much all in the different material that goes in it, I work at PPG and make automotive paint and literally he difference between things like Ford paint and BMW paint are just the process and the type of mica/aluminum that goes in it, basically it 😂😂
In paint in relation to making traditional art such as water color or oil or acrylic paintings, the paint you use means absolutely everything. How paint is made determines everything. How bright the color is, how well is blends with other colors, how it spreads across a page, or how long a paints pigment lasts! Cheap paint may originally appear blue, but over time it's color will dull or change color entirely because of the Cheap chemicals used to make it!
I thought they meant really bougie artist grade paint.
same, I was thinking like Old Holland or something '-' but it's just... house paint with marble
I didn't even know there was luxury paint. You learn something new everyday.😂
*_At first I thought it was coffee!!_*
Same :)
Goodbye Microsoft paint
Ifkr ,me too
This paint looks very good i’ve always wanted INSIDER to make more videos of paint thanks 😂😂
Did I miss where they explained what makes this paint so good? We didn’t even see them put it on anything or what the purpose of the paint is...
It’s for interior decoration i think
Why do I find paint mixing so satisfying?
I'm supposed to be studying. Why am I here?...
Goodluck tho👍👍
I passed 😂
Same
Reminds me of a quote: You know it is exam time, when you wash the outside of the entrance door.
The accent..
Some how i feel hungry watching this video
I never knew there was a thing such as luxury paint
THAT LOOKS DELICIOUS AS HELL OH MY GOODNESS
Maybe thats why its so expensive, so ppl dont eat it (because ppl normally don’t eat 1000 paint)
Why is this video so satisfying ?
My idea of luxury paint was when Miranda from Sex and the City mention her walls were painted using Ralph Lauren Paint. But I’ve come to learn that it was accessible at your local Home Depot back then.
How satisfying 😆😍
what makes it luxury?
They add crushed marble
Guizbar but what make it so special
Caleb TFA crushed marble genius
The taste
Some guy explained that it makes the paint scratch resistant & hides the imperfections on the wall, the colors are more vibrant, but crushed marble is one of the more expensive fillers hence the price.
Wow! What a nice way to show how to commercialize stuff using the “Luxury” name badge.
How luxery is made guys your wonderful
Amazing
SO FREAKIN SATISFYING
A filler? so basically they tried to cheap out but ended up with a luxury product?
I'm an R&D paint chemist. A filler is used to being up the solids of the coating to fill in imperfections and give it "body" or a thickness to it so it doesn't run off the thing being painted. A primer is an example of a high solids coating. Fillers can improve the paint quality, but it can also lower the cost of the coating. Just depends on the thing being added. Talc is a cheap filler. Marble is expensive.
@@MCBeee ah! thanks for clearing that up
MC B Marble is more expensive but is it a better filler than talc?
@@kendrickdelosreyes5381 I'd use TiO2 before using talc for a interior coating. Marble would have better mar resistance, pencil hardness, and scrub/burnish resistance. There's a thing called pencil hardness and it's archaic, but it works. Basically get art drawing pencils and push on the coating at a 45 degree angle to see which pencil breaks it apart. HB for me is average for a TiO2 conversion varnish. Lacquers maybe a 2B. A catalyzed system with marble might possibly be in the F area.
MC B Good to know! Appreciate the explanation.
*HOW DO YOU WANT YOUR PAINT?*
*YES*
Satisfying:)
Cool
Never have I felt the urge to drink paint until I saw this video....
Ask my sister what it tastes like I’m sure she already drinks paint
Satisfying...
Welcome back to Season 1 Episode 5 of “Why is this in my recommended?”
i'd never heard of mylands before. all the interior designers seem to use farrow and ball so i thought that was the top range of paints.
Is this the kind of paint that really advanced artists use??
I thought it was for drawing
Then I realise it’s for painting the walls
Gimme some of that Prada paint
That's Cool😎
0:05 the swirling looks like Jupiter 😍
So like is it more pigmented? To cost more or is it just the “name”?
Is this the paint that is used on captain america’s old circular shield?
So what's so great about it and why is it used instead of regular paint in movies
This I want to know considering the price...
Our film and tv paint is used for green screens and normal sets in most films made in 1950’s, we supplied every bond film since dr no!
@@harveymyland3881 but why is yours so special, like do you put gold in it or something? And why not go buy some regular paint from home depot lol
aquaturtle75 because the formula is so rich and creamy. Marble is used as a filler in the mixing. It paints on the walls lovely and smooth and when you see the finished result for yourself you really notice it’s quality.
It’s my favourite ‘high end’ paint. Prefer it to farrow & ball for example, which is classed as ‘designer paint’.... I also love how the tins come with a little printed sticker on them with the date the paint was made in the factory. I don’t think I’ve ever used paints from other brands/companies that do this.
Crushed Marble as FILLLER is when you know that's rich.
It looks...delicious
Every paint factory looks almost identical
Wow great stuff! Any room for tutorials? I will love to be one of your students.
I want this job, what should i study to do it? I am a chemistry student but which masters should i take to do this?
Whts the difference between this and regular paint?
Now I want kraft mac n cheese
Brain: drink it
Me: this thing will kill me!
Brain: DRINK IT!
The only luxury paint I'm going to buy is the one that paints itself.
2:16 so satifying
for a second i thought luxury paint were those expensive watercolor paints in tubes.
This is the paint that grandpa eat lmao
My brain keeps saying it’s mango puree even though it’s paint
Thanks i cant unsee it now
The milk paint looks yummy.
Why does adding marble dust make the paint better for filming?
I find it interesting that they use vinyl acetate.
Super
In Greece mixing paint with this machine is like 20 dollars for 5 liters and they can make you every hue you want
I just heard Harry Potter, I watched the full video
Absolute madlad
I heard James bond and I watched it
2:15 holy shit watching that felt trippy
I am one of thy early people😂
Okay but like...WHAT are they using it for in movies? Obviously sets, but what necessitates crushed marble acrylic/house paint in a set piece?
Looks like cappuccino coffe without foam
Yuhana Atmaja what kind of cappuccinos have you been drinking?
i did not even know that this existed
So the paint that I used to buy is deluxe ? Worth money
Ikr
An Insider video with no annoying hosts doin unnecessary antics or annoying loud music... Ok... Keep doing these videos and I might subscribe again...
oil or acrylic?
I dont understand where do they use those paints, like to paint what?
Walls, floors, ceilings, wood, metal, concrete, plaster, brick.
HOME DEPOT HAS THOSE MACHINES
Thought I couldn’t speak broke because of my AirPods but then I saw this video 😪😪

Wow paint isn’t enough for these people
Looks delicious, lol
This is used for painting what?
Last ingredient Queen Elizabeth’s tear💧
The thumbnail looks a little like one of those cappuccinos
Will the paint makes my house nuclear-proof?
all I really want to do is drink it even though that's not recommended
if i pay that much for some paint, it better pay rent
As a R&D paint chemist, I use those products besides the marble.
Why would one want to use this paint for their house over a cheaper product? Any advantage?
@@MichaelsPwner I've never used marble in my coatings, but it would depend on the overall chemistry of the coating. If the resins and additives perform well enough to prevent moisture damage and improve stain resistance with the marble then it would be a very hard and mar resistant interior coating and that's its selling point. The resins and costly additives like defoamer, dispersants, flow/leveling agents, and rheology modifiers are all important. Marble will be harder than the typical matting agents such as wax, silica/modified silica, or plastics. The cost of additives depends on the process it takes to make the product and the perceived value compared to other products.
My brother, I loved this field, and unfortunately I bought books and searched for videos, and no one was told about the compositions and their secrets. Can you teach me? I will be grateful to you.
Which song is this ?
I don’t see what’s so luxurious about it
how a luxury ad is made
I understand how they’re still open. 😂
Of course there's luxury paint. There's a luxury version of nearly everything.
Sir you can give me all paint makeing formulation ingredient
Wait, so the sets were painted in black and white?
It’s not much more expensive than Sherwin Williams’ best paint, which is excellent.
Why does film industry need paint?
Painting filming sets. They don’t film on real streets or homes they make replicas. Sometimes a small town out of plaster casts and paint
