    Your video is spot on!!! I felt all mechanic-ky lol I didn't take the entire door off. I didn't want to risk messing up the wire at the bottom of the door (2017 cam) I did take off the handle and pop the door panel enough to where I can change my mirror. I am very proud of myself AND I did it with nails 💅 😌 lol I AM WOMAN!!! lol Thanks again.

    Thank you so much man. My mirror got smashed by a careless driver and Toyota were going to charge me $165 for installation of a new mirror. Thanks to your video I was able to do it myself 😁

    Thanks for your detailed instructions. To add the value of your video, it was learned from my practice on my Camry 2023 that the third connection near the bottom level is not present in the 2023 model, making it easier to disconnect the cover from the passenger side door. Thx.

    Thanks, bro. A preliminary video to know what Toyota did to button things up before I dove in is exactly what I needed!

    Thank you for sharing this. Super useful. I need to change my right side mirror, hence two questions (1) Can you share the link for ordering at Platinum Plus (2) Did you get to choose the body color or dud you match the color by yourself. I have a green color.

    • @SaraiGarage
      @SaraiGarage  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1.) You can use any parts website. There are hundreds for Toyota.
      2.) It came painted but the paint was slightly off. It is a few years later and the paint has faded pretty bad. I would tell you to buy genuine mirror from Toyota and have a body shop paint it for $100 or so. I always buy genuine parts. I only installed this aftermarket one because that’s what my dad and grandpa wanted and bought.
      You’ll probably have a hard time finding an already painted green mirror as well.
      Goodluck!

      My dad bought this mirror, so I have no idea where he ordered it from. I checked online though and even if I gave a link, it appears that the mirrors are different depending on what trim level and options your Camry has installed such as blind spot detection. Just search through google and make sure to buy the correct mirror that matches your car's trim and options. It seems like Partsgeek.com carries this brand of mirrors by the way. I hope this was at least somewhat helpful. Sorry I couldn't provide an easy link!

    Nice video but you forgot to show how to discount and reconnect the lock mechanism.

    • @SaraiGarage
      @SaraiGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      You don't need to disconnect it! For me, it just fell out of the door panel (with all of its wiring still attached) when I lifted the door panel up, and when reinstalling, I just slid it back into the hole in the panel before popping the panel back onto the door. Please don't try to disconnect any of the wires from the lock mechanism! There's no need!

    That was a great video, I just watched it one time and was able to replace my side view mirror in less than 20 minutes. On the 2012,u don't need to take the entire door panel off. As long as the top right comes off, u can access the power hook up the mirror. Thanks though, big help.

    How do u remove just mirror cap on same car I wanna just replace only the cap...thanks

    • @SaraiGarage
      @SaraiGarage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're going to need the same plastic trim removers I used in this video and carefully use them to pop off the cap. Get the tool in-between the mirror-housing and the cap and then go around the side-view mirror slightly applying pressure/ pushing the cap off from each side (with the trim remover) until eventually it pops off. Be very careful not to use too much force tho since the mirror components are delicate! I hope this explanation makes sense. Good luck!

    I was wondering if for a 2017 Camry, I would need to take the whole door off??

    • @SaraiGarage
      @SaraiGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it is possible to do this job without removing the entire door panel.
      The main reason I had to remove the door panel was to disconnect the electrical wire that controls the motor for the glass in your mirror.
      If you watch from around 8:30 - 9:00 minute-mark, you can see, at least in the pre-facelift model like my Camry, the wire connection is pretty close to the actual mirror. In other words, the part where you need to disconnect the wire is pretty close to the corner by the mirror, it's not deep in the door or anything.
      Edit: At 8:33 the mirror wire is that weird wire in the top corner that looks to be wrapped in grayish brown foam! I hope that helps a little more.
      If you are afraid of removing the entire panel (which is completely understandable, I was terrified myself when I first did this) you can just pop off the top corner clips and just slowly pop off as many tabs as you need until you can reach your hands back in there to disconnect the old wire/plug/connection and plug in the wire from the new mirror!
      Don't be afraid of removing the panel though. It's literally just plastic clips that pop into a little hole. You just need to use a little force to pop them out. I promise it looks 10x scarier than it actually is! Once you pop off the first tab, you'll be perfectly fine!

      I want to say the design is a little different. The electrical connections and bolts are the same, just the outside cover is different. Call your local Toyota dealership’s parts department and just double check with them!

    dude, were I you I would not honestly claim to be applicable to so many model years. Because you are not. I nearly damaged a car today because of it. Fortunately, the car's owner, a friend, was able to point out her 2017 model had a small, circular cover to the door opening handle cover that needed to be pryed open to get to the screw, instead of the larger snap-in cover you removed. I would have damaged her car had she not shouted, "What are you doing, no!" She was right. And you were wrong.

    • @SaraiGarage
      @SaraiGarage  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cars are the still same tho. You were just working on a facelifted model. They always change small things like cover shapes when doing facelifts. I have no idea why.
      But besides the shape of the covers and sometimes how they open, the overall steps, locations of bolts and screws, and electrical connections should be the same.
      I am sorry if this caused you trouble. I did try to show everything very up close and mentioned in the description that this was a 2013 model (pre-facelift).
      Next time you’re doing home repairs following TH-cam just keep that in mind! The steps will be the same for pre and post facelift but there will be SOME small differences along the way.
      My apologies 🙏🏾
