I love how unabashedly positive this is. Like even with the mild sabotage, everyone is so encouraging and supportive. Barry and Jamie were trying so hard to help Mike get all 3 ingredients, people behind the cameras reminding him about the buns and Barry running to check on them, the team vetoing Kush's suggestion to give Mike a live lobster, the 'he's got a little blowtorch', and how excited everyone including Jamie was knowing that Mike was on the podium with this. It just radiates positivity. That pretty much sums up the entire wild weekender and SortedFood in general!

If Mike's trivia round taught me anything... You REALLY need to bring Chef Lanlard back and teach Mike & Jamie all about choux pastry AGAIN! That Eclairs video was the best ever. PLS!
I feel like they should have given him the milk as a correct answer. while the choux pastry recipe they usually use is butter and water, eric lanlard had them use butter and milk iirc, and a ton of recipes for it on the internet also use milk.
It's just occurred to me that, just as this channel has a sort of culinary Top Gear vibe to it, that the burger challenge is the Sorted equivalent to "star in a reasonably priced car." (Ebbers is James May, Barry is Richard Hammond, and Jamie is a sort of Jeremy Clarkson.)
I got the Top Gear reference for the burger challenge immediately even though I'm a Canadian that doesn't have a TV - it has a leaderboard and all - but how does the whole channel have a Top Gear vibe?
Considering this was done in a brand new kitchen that he wasn't familiar with and without the epic blowtorch that would've shaved more time off, Mike deserves even more credit for delivering a banging burger that isn't as hot a mess compared to others in such a quick time. Truly the unsung hero of Sorted!
What a great sub10 burger challenge! Thanks for posting for those of us who couldn’t attend! Feel like a good alternative name for the burger might have been the Mike Lobstorm but honestly it was a small cloudburst at most, Mike’s really coming into his own in the kitchen!

The Wild Weekender was so wild. Loved rewatching part of it during a two plane journeys this weekend. It was a welcome distraction to listening to the crying toddler that had partied a little too much at the wedding we attended. 😂
@@user-ht6fc7io9uI would guess not, since it would be quite an effort to edit that segment into a coherent 20ish minute video. But I really want @SortedFood to start a "Kush Cooks" series - I enjoyed his style of cooking and presenting, it's a nice contrast to Ben's. They mentioned he regularly makes amazing lunches out of all the various filming leftovers - "throw together random bits and bobs into a decent meal" is a really useful skill to teach home cooks! Plus it would satisfy the older fans who miss their instructional cooking videos.
Haha, I'd forgotten how Jamie's mermaid makeup made it look like he'd fallen asleep in the sun or gotten too close to the BBQ. Mike's "Lob-on-burger" looked pretty good & in a good time too. It was a great weekend, glad I treated myself to a weekend pass. I was stuck in bed unable to move that week & it kept me thoroughly entertained.

Loved the wild weekender. My wife, who only has a passing knowledge of you guys, was hooked by the end of day one. My Sunday was my wife planning our whole day around watching. From 7am until the end, it was 2 days of great entertainment and education.
I wanted to thank you for allowing us to see this as I wondered about Mike and James Currie and how well they did. Looks like you all had a lot of fun. Again, thank you. I really enjoyed it.
Thank you, guys! I genuinely expected to miss these burger challenges and just see where they placed in the leaderboards on the next ones, but it's great to actually watch them.

Your sub-10 minute challenge reminds me of one of the books I learnt to cook from, some 50 years ago now. It is called "Cooking in Ten Minutes" by Edouard de Pomiane, and his premise is that, with judicious shopping, you can cook a 3-course meal in ten minutes. A sample menu is, for instance, poached egg with black butter followed by fried fillets of veal with green peas, salad with cream dressing, cheese and fruit! Or Czech-style noodles followed by Entrecote with Onions, Cucumbers and Cream, Cheese, Fruit.... This was published in 1930, long before microwaves, fresh pasta and other modern conveniences! Okay - have at it! Let's see what your team can come up with in 10 minutes. The book seems widely available if you need a copy.
@@marlyd According to the book, they are noodles with chopped ham! Sounds fairly awful, as does much of the food in the book to modern ears - very under-seasoned. But in an age with no microwaves, no frozen food, no fresh pasta, no ramen... It is original and one can get good ideas from it!
They explained it in the first 30 seconds. They lost the pass it on and the punishment was their wives and kids got to paint their faces. Jamie is a mermaid and Barry started as a turtle and turned into a sewer monster
given the ingredients and sauce made i think this Burger is so far the best we have seen on the show in terms of taste. Cant go wrong with Lobster ofc but balancing it with Burger is always a challenge and given the feedback Mike nailed it. Well done mate!
