Traveling the world with your hubby, making football videos where you get to do interviews like this is a dream job. You are very lucky, my friend. You are also the only woman who can make me laugh. Your love of the game and the fact that you show us the real Nieve is the winning recipe. I'm stuck in a room due to serious back injury from playing rugby, so I appreciate all the laughs this channel has given me. P.S if you guys get a boy one day, don't let him play any position in the scrum, especially hooker. I played winger and hooker and it was the latter that did me in, so keep that boy in the backline.
@adensenycia172 She's a champ. I have a new criteria for choosing a gf. You know how girls, who are really fond of you, pretend to love every sport you love... well, I found a solution to find a genuine one. Ask her to show you how the offside trap works.
@@stuntpeggnieve You deserve all the praise, not just for this but all your work. From the concession stand worker from a non-league team to a former premier leaguer, you make everyone seem both important and accessible. Just dont let it go to your head. We still demand a heavy dose of 80's pop and dad jokes.
@@stuntpeggnieve I’m extremely disappointed. I was hoping for a deeply dishonest conversation. It’s what I become used to, and it makes me feel more comfortable. Honesty and truth scare me. Kamala 2024 🎉 Edit, oh there was some minor dishonesty, in that players aren’t worth the money, their contracts are, to buy out.
As a Brit Berbatov is my all time favourite player! No idea why, just loved the way he played. Real shame what’s happening with Bulgarian Football Federation!
I love this so much. 'Is it easier to get in position or is it easier to score' is the best question I have ever heard asked of a footballer. Nieve you are a journalist genius.
This interview made me realize that the reason I've tried to use my foot to stop a hammer from falling on the floor is a football habit. Not sure if the football pundits are doing an awful job or if this interview was just next level.
Didn't know what to expect from Berbatov. He always seemed like a stoic artist type of guy, but he's so incredibly well-spoken and direct, that I can't help but be captivated by this interview. 10/10 interviewing from Nieve too, relating concepts to players today
Excellent interview, Nieve! I like how your questions gave Dimitar the space to run into with his answers and fair play to him that he engaged with all of them. You made this look totally natural but I bet it took a massive amount of preparation. Hope that you get more opportunities like this!
You ask such insightful questions that many who lack a deep understanding of football can't. You can tell Dimitar is impressed. I really liked his tip of using a rubber band on your wrist to "snap" yourself back into reality when you have negative thoughts. Excellent video as always, Nieve!
A genuinely excellent interview, Nieve. Superb choice of questions, topics and pacing throughout. All feels so authentic and natural. Putting lots of sports media outlets to shame
Honestly , she’s a step above with her understanding of the game compared to other male pundits her age. Hats off to you best of luck, looking forward to seeing more of your insight in the future.
I’ve just discovered your channel. Congratulations, really thoughtful and entertaining content. This interview is 10x better than the stuff you see on mainstream TV football coverage
I'm not even a football fan, I waa brought up on rugby, but what a fantastic interview and having just found this channel - i have to say you have an amazing way of making football interesting but also human. You are far better than the current TV football commentators....impressive, very natural.
One of the greatest ever footballers to date of all-time. For me he is a TOTTENHAM legend in my generation, but then his career at MANCHESTER UNITED only escalated his status as one of the all-time greats in football history.
Thank you for the interview! He was a fascinating but also mysterious player when I followed him at the Bundesliga around 20 years ago. Very hard and intelligent working and so calm. Great career.
incredible video and interview. you are so built for this. to be able to keep being yourself while getting your subject (Berbatov in this case) to also open up, was great!
As a Liverpool fan, Berbatov is one of United players that I have so much respect for. There are times when I’ve watched them plays, he can just control a ridiculous second ball with such ease. His technique with the balls is just insane, if he’s a Brazilian I think he’ll get at least one Balon D’or. And Nieve, great content and interview as well. You gave so much nuance for our beloved games on and off the pitch.
This was amazing. The subtle comedic bits/timing (her drawing reveal and the last scene with ball crashing the fence) make Nieve so damn entertaining...needless to say her observations and knowledge of the game and enthusiasm for everything football is so contagious.
This kinda came across as a football oriented version of Chicken Shop Date (but with some really proper conversation mixed in with the jokes). Great video and what a player!
Great interview Neive. He is a really nice guy is Berbatov. Haven't ever heard an interview like this with him before. Absolute quality finisher and player.
"which is harder, to score or to create goalscoring opportunity?" that was genuinely a great question 😮 also i really love when Dimitar said even though Nicolas Jackson couldn't score much, but him being often in a goalscoring opportunities is reassuring because he did his job as a forward player and just need to perfect his finishing touches, which apparently he already did in this season. another great interview session well done once again, Nieve 🎉
Holy hells this was an awesome interview Nieve! I literally teared up a few times with what Dimitar was saying - and you didn't interrupt him once, let him continue with his thoughts. He's a player who spent 20 years in the game, mostly in the PL but he spent time in other leagues as well and picked up quite a bit. Thank you for this inside look Nieve and I hope you get more opportunities like this in the future.
@StuntPegg thank you so much for this film. Like everthing you do this was exceptional journalism in your unique understated way. Keep up the fantasic work.
Nice one Nieve - you asked some great questions. Having worked next to famous people all my life (some more worthy of it than others perhaps), I admire greatly anyone who can stay in the spotlight and perform as long as Berba has. It's refreshing to hear about how it affects people as human beings rather than focus on all the riches fame brings. It takes an immense effort to navigate being a public figure while not completely losing your mind - it is an often overlooked achievement in itself.
There’s a reason Dimitar Berbatov was referred to as the new Cantona. Not necessarily because of his flair on the pitch. He had a brain. A heart. A poet. It is brilliant to see someone like this engaging with the mental health challenges that people face, through the lens of football. At the end of the day, these are all young men like in any other walk of life, who society ill-equips for the pressures that they have to deal with. £30m is a ridiculous amount of money. £115m is even worse. But there’s no way that players can be insulated from their valuations by agents or clubs. When a transaction takes place, journalists will find out how much it is. These are normal guys in an abnormal situation and it should never be seen any differently. Trent Alexander Arnold has done work highlighting the kids that join football academies but don’t ultimately make it. Young lives ruined before they begin, because of the very thing they love. It’s all vital work. Otherwise you get another generation of lads resorting to drink and drugs to deal with their problems, because they’ve been given no other options.
thoughtful, well researched, and insightful interviews like this in a time of simplified clickbait titles/video concepts are so so rare and so so appreciated. everything you do is soaked with passion and careful intention - TOP JOB NIEVE (as usual)
5:57 Very intresting way of asking the question. Creating a context for a smaller question to exist in so the answer has room to grow? Really putting the time and effort into the question earns you the full intresting answer for sure

He's pretty active on socials and seems like a proper thinker, which comes across in this video too. Great interview by Nieve, needless to say!
Cannot understand why you have not been taken by BBC or Sky Sport as a great football journalist, well done , you can take MOTD when Lineker leaves.
Would be my pick.
David Coote has already been pencilled in to take Lineker's role
Because they prefer a big name over someone who actually knows about football and can talk well. They'll probably pick some ex player
She involved in Sky sports
Wish she was on instead of useless people like Aluko, Owen etc
I underestimated just how smart and intuitive Berbatov is.
Me too. So much wisdom and experience of life, beyond football too.

Fantastic player, lovely person, awesome interview!
Appreciate it a lot! Such an imaginative player and person.
I don't think many former pros are able to express themselves as eloquently and as honestly as Berbatov. Great interview.
This dude was a fantastic footballer. Great player for Manchester United.
Excellent interview with an excellent footballer. As a LFC fan I was absolutely gutted when he signed for United, gutted and jealous.
