nice video! I’m a fellow software engineer myself currently working remotely for a US company, but I’m permanently moving to Switzerland next month and going to relaunch my career there. Can’t wait!

Thank you Richard for sharing your experience.
I plan to relocate to Switzerland in the near future after completing my Computer Science degree in Germany.
Maybe I'll see you when I get there.
    Vielen dank 🙏

I will tell you how the work in Switzerland really looks like - it is a labour camp , this is a German culture of work. Most of people start very early (7:30) and you have 1,5-2h break so from mondad to friday you work, eat sleep and repeat. Selfish culture, team work is non existing and this hierarhy structure…. When I worked in Switzerland I felt like a slave, a worm compared to for example Norway. In Switzerland even specialists work like common workers.

why nobody points this out then? all I am seeing are recommendations of positive feedback on Switzerland. whats the truth?

@@Faceless175Its because in the end we are greatful because we are covered. But still its just accepted in our workculture to work more than 42h a Week.

Well the truth is subjective in this case, isn't it? I have never experienced anything like what he described. Out of the 4 employers I had so far, 3 were great, 1 not so much. His last sentence might explain, why he feels this way. "Specialists work like common workers". If you expect any special treatment just because of your title, you will be disappointet.

That is 100% true if your working place consists only of Swiss people or your boss is Swiss, who loves his old times in Swiss army. Things may be very different if you work with expats or exposed to international work Swiss people. So your mileage will 100% vary from place to place. In most places a good thing is - people care about their health and private time. Work at Sunday is forbidden by law. 25 days of vacation is a standard minimum. So, I would say that makes it pretty good and better than in most places already. Of course no-one is protected from assholes team members or bosses, but that applies everywhere on the planet.

    Hi Richard, nice video.
I wanted to ask you about people who work in Switzerland but live in France.
This would be a very good thing for me because I'm already a French resident and it would make everything so much easier.
Do you know anything about this subject?
    Thank you

I would guess that if you have a bachelor‘s degree in IT and are reliable, there‘s a chance. I think human resources is often quite superficial when it comes to CVs and not necessarily have the competence to evaluate you well, that‘s why they usually want a certificate.
