There was no feeling in this game like realizing that there was more to this segment. Holy shit the heart drop when I learned that it wasn’t done yet
I ended up waiting for them to get their lights extinguished and BOOKED IT for the finish line (reels)
You could hear the sound cue of the thing following you. I knew he was behind you.
In this area, I never went down the stair, I jumped on one of the underground elevators as it was going back up and then rode it down, from there I accidentally made the owlks go under the bridges and got trough
this is the most unique solution I have seen to this problem, it's amazing that they even let you do that! I was considering it but couldn't find a way to hitch a ride.
I completely forgot that I could get away from the lanterns to get the bug, I just lured them in and walked around.
For anyone who happens to be playing, if you've blown out the whole house and failed to come back, you can just turn left to get to the elevator.

When I went down that big room there was no one guarding. Guess it's cause I was dead

Maybe the dam was broken, or they just happened to always be outside your view
I believe the guards only descend from their towers when you turn the lights off. If you got past the alarms by being dead, and so never needed to turn the lights off, then the guards won't be down there.
@@SamariumHelium the dam breaking only kills the owlks in the wetlands. He was probably dead cus you can get down there without blowing out the lights if you’re dead

I hated and loved this part of the game, sheer terror mixed with elation when i made it.
nah ... i got halfway through the echoes of the eye but im quitting if it means im boutta go thru this nahhh i cant handle horror stuff
I had to use mods. Turned off the AI and a flashlight mod. Made the DLC much more enjoyable for me.

you need to find the correct « glitched » carrousel of pictures, one explains that if you put your lamp on the ground and go away you’ll see how the simulation of their planet really looks like

I did it first try when tryna get an achievement and didn’t realise there was 2 owls down there, until every other time I got jump scared so often I almost died 😂

same, I never actually figured it out, or know a safe path, I just got really lucky
I lured one on one side and for some reason on the other side he wasn't there anymore so I just booked it
I never expected outer wilds to scare me. In the base game i definitely hada couple obscure moments where my heart sunk. But goddamn, even immediately into the DLC, when the stranger first appeared i almost fucking died.
Yeah. Base game is nothing to DLC. I had to turn on the accesibility setting and it still was almost too much to handle.

@@elirias Yep, Giant's deep, Ash twins and the supernova were all terrifying for me.
Base game is far scarier. There wasn't a single moment in DLC that scared me, apart from entering the Stranger the first time with that immense scary music. That was awesome and quite terrifying.
But from the inside, the Stranger is a lovely area with beautiful villages and from the very first reels you find, there's nothing to suggest the beings of this place are bad. They also look kinda cute. And even when they catch you, they just snuff your flame out (well not always true but still).
I think people are just generally scared of dark areas. Because Dark Bramble and Giant's Deep are what really scared me.

i had one of the owlks fly up a tree almost 2 stories high just to get me. also one grabbed me thru a moving elevator and I swear my heart pumped 10 years away in a matter of seconds.
TOO close for comfort, I would have walked away from my computer for like 5 minutes to calm my very shot nerves.
This area is made by sadists, after you realize how the upstairs owlks work it's not that hard to get downstairs, but after the tense segment that was getting downstairs, I thought I was in the clear, I was walking with little regard of where I was shining my light until the distortion in the music starts to play and I see an owlk shinning its light directly at me while I was in a corner next to some stairs, I was inches away from the light's radius so I didn't get caught, but my God I was just waiting for the owlk to scream
I will never try reduced frights. i love the heart attack feeling
This is the only part of this entire game I had go look up a guide for because after 20+ attempts of trying to sneak around I could never get past. Turns out th solution was just to run for the lift. 😐

@@Cookiekopter this Error is completely unhelpful as you learn that error in the archive you are trying to get in to. you learn that error in that archive

@@almogz9486 Technically the solution is to get down the spiral stairs right as the tower tips over. It is stressful to panic-grab all the slides before the ATP sucks you in, but it feels less stressful than brute forcing through the Owlks, lol!
Man I love this game but I just physically can't get myself to finish it like this shit is to much for me
i remember this sections clearly because at one try the owlk before the stairs noticed me and followed me to the bottom, scarriest thing ever

whoo im glad that i did all of those puzzles the "smart" way avoiding strangers i would have probably died from a heart attack otherwise
Unless you cheated and already knew about the glitch backdoor, these are the only strangers you literally can not avoid having to sneak past

@@bobobsen I actually did this part "the smart way" without knowing, since I thought you could only access the dream by dying and so I went there without awakening the ghosts
@@bobobsen you can just wait until the tower falls in the water... you don't have to sneak past them then.
@@oracidrep The issue there is that the ending music pretty much starts playing as soon as the tower has finished falling, by the time you get past the guarded areas there probably wouldn't be much time to look around.

The game bugged for me so that bit at the end had no OwlElks in the room. I was playing with a coop mod.
you sure it wasn't the part when they died? they die at the very end of the loop so you can either run around them or wait it out
@@thneed9432 I don't think it was towards the end of the loop, I just assumed that since the coop mod is kinda glitchy with eote that it was just the mod. But it's entirely possible that they had died
@@jbarber7127 oh you modded it then yeah it might be that, it's also entirely possible that they either weren't released down there or you got down there without triggering them

Ive done 100% ship log of DLC but did not know I could turn off the lights in that area lmao. I still got to that archive tho

@@Benthorpy i tried without but couldn't get past the bell so i thought what if i made myself like the dead owlks i was surrounded by and just tried it because why not i was out of options and it worked

If you kill yourself at the fire in the real world while holding a lantern, you will still end up in the virtual world. However, since you’re dead, the alarms can’t wake you up. The game kind of already tells you this if you realize that’s why the aliens aren’t awoken by it.

You would only know this by trial and error UNLESS you look it up OR already complete this area as intended, with guards. The reel "reward" for this area contains the knowledge of the death simulation.
@@GreatWightSpark yea its the only one in witch the only solution without using the knowledge in it is sneaking around the owlks the other 2 locations you can skip by using the raft
@@GreatWightSpark True. But if you’re an extra-sharp explorer, you may draw the conclusion that the strangers aren’t woken up because they’re dead. (I’m not extra-sharp. I looked it up. Lol)
@@Cookiekopter You can only access one location with the raft. The forbidden archives all have a trick for bypassing them than you learn once you get in. So the archive that tells you about the raft skip can be accessed with the raft skip, the archive that tells you about the bells is defended by a series of bells, and the archive that tells you about simulation mode can be accessed with a secret bridge you can only see in simulation mode.
I have 100% this game before the DLC, I love it. I had no idea you could put down the relic and enter the fucking matrix!?

@@Leafar42 I input a code after trial and error took me a few cycles and writing down each combination.. I couldn’t work out another way, feel like an idiot now honestly haha.
