Yup, had the bike dyno tuned shortly after this vid. Runs a lot smoother with better power response. Don't wanna go fouling my plugs, among other things, running rich!
Mine is similar with Brocks. it'll pop when cold (loud), but not when warm.so I'm curious if this was a cold start - and are you running regular gas? Also, don't know if i shoot flames... should check!
sudden decelatarion from a high rpm, the engine has a moment of running rich. This causes an incomplete burn which causes the fumes to explode in the exhaust system along with an audible pop or bang sound(you see this alot in race car/bike also in this video). This is a result of working equipment, and is unlikely to cause damage. And removal of catalytic converter will result to a back fire because there is nothing that prevent the fumes from comming out.
It won't hurt your bike they run on explosions, my buddy's turbo busa does this all the time. If you recorded your pipe at nog ht running hard threw the gears you would see it happens almost every shift with a full exhaust. I personally won't rev my engine standing still cause I'm cool like that. To each his own. Peace
The flames were from unburned fuel from running too rich, which is not good for the motor. Had to get it tuned before I ran into problems in the future.
No, flames coming out is not good at all.. Backfire by definition is unburned fuel detonating in the exhaust system after it leaves the combustion chamber. You might be running to rich and could lose power.. hope you had this corrected since this vid was still way back in February..
Hahahahaha, I love people like this, coming on to the internet, thinking they know shit when they actually have no idea what so ever. All bikes, regardless of tune will blow flames if the exhaust is free flowing enough. Fuel burns completely at 14.7:1 air/fuel ratio but cars and bikes are richer than that, like 13:1. There is suppose to be a small amount of fuel left over to cool the cylinders and head and to make a more controllable ignition.
thank you finally someone educated enough to know that shooting flames out the exhaust is not good...
sounds and looks great !!!
A thumbs up for you sir.. well played..

it's normal on high performance engine.
nice :)
And mine has titanium akrabovic (long)
Brand new 2011 S1000RR w/all options out the door: $20k.
Akrapovic Evo exhaust with PC V installed: $3k.

A ducati with akrapovics sounds basically the same.
Please do tell..
It's afterfire. Not backfire. Just saying
Nope, no dB eater. No one seems to make one.
