You need to keep your kick straight.
It’s out to the side slightly.

Have you ever kicked an opponent in the groin while sparring?

Incorrect technique! Stance too wide! Shoulders should not move! Stay squared! Back foot should not turn outward! Round house, knee comes up in front then angled to the side! You are a poor student of Karate! Very sorry to write this post!

Thank you for typing your opinion. A front stance has to be as wide as a person’s hips. Most people’s stances are too narrow and you can push them down. To kick we move our body from half body to full body with hip rotation. We have to check your facts as your comment is not true to Shotokan karate.

I hit orange a month ago. My side kicks are fine for my level, but not good enough for me. I've spent the past 3 weeks night after night doing side kick training/drills/stretching/stretch rack. Its SO much better than what it was, but I made myself a promise to do it every single night for the entire summer. I wanna show up at my next class in sept and have that perfect side kick and be able to do the splits. Also, dont listen to negative comments, if they dont have their own karate vids posted for you to critique, then they shouldn't feel they have the right to critique you.

Congratulations on becoming an orange belt! I am trying to get back to that fantastic form I had when I was 30yrs old. Training every day towards your goal is the correct plan of action. You can overcome all obstacles with the strongest desire to win and back it up with hours of practice. If I do 100 kicks everyday that is 700 kicks in one week. Compare that to someone who only trains once a week doing 100 kicks. Who do you think will have more discipline, strength and the ability to preform under pressure? The goal is to seek perfection of character in the individual. If an individual is a channel for voicing negativity they are not strong enough to resist evil. You have to be strong to fight for righteousness.
