I'm actually understanding everything, and I even manage to read the deep walkthrough on the website with all the documentation. I want to become a pentester and I feel like it's difficult to find accessible material. So reading your website and watching the videos is really helping a lot.

You could have been the one to write these CTF's. You explain it in such a simple way and more importantly, the way the walkthrough's want you to do it instead of going over the top with commands that haven't even been covered yet. Thank you for throwing these videos up.

Nice walkthrough. Was wondering did you do this without referring to the walkthrough guide? From a beginner pov, its almost impossible to complete it without the guide but yet HTB categorized it as "Very Easy"..
Yeah actually I do these walkthroughs on my own first and then reference the guide afterwards to make sure I'm showing the most accurate information possible. However, as a beginner- a lot of the HTB machines are going to seem really difficult and that basically just comes from a lack of experience and exposure in the field. If you continue to work at these boxes and watch videos in your free time (like you are by watching my walkthroughs) then you're going to grow your knowledge base on these things over time and it will only get easier and easier! :)

I cannot connect to the Webpage..the site loads everytime until a connection time out appears. if I ping the address and nmap everything is fine but why cant i get to the webpage? i have this problem to all boxes

Hey I know this is old but maybe someone else will come along with the same question so I figured I'd answer it as I understand it. I'm not sure if I understand it exactly, but I think the $path variable is where linux looks for binary(program) variables to execute them. So normally it would call that $path variable and cause it to look in bin somewhere which would point it to the /root/reports section, however since instead path sends it to /tmp/, it doesn't get pointed to that root/reports location and instead uses the "cat" command next. This means it launches that cat file that he gave execute permissions to with chmod +x. I think the author of this video could've explained this in a bit more detail, however the HTB walkthrough doesn't really go into detail either.
If I upload the php reverse shell it say me "Sorry, there was an error uploading your file." .. I have the exactly same file as you, why I have a error? Thank you
Can you please help me with the case of the reverse shell not being caught by the netcat listener on my machine? What could possibly gone wrong? The steps I followed are completely the same as yours. Thank you for these great videos btw:)
@@HMNIM814 ran into the same error. I opened nc listener right after uploaded file then entered IP/uploads/php-reverse-shell.php/ and got it! Thanks for the tip!

@@maroofchaudhary543 I had that same issue, turns out my reverse shell was deleted, i reuploaded and it solved my issue

Try disabling firewall with the command: sudo ufw disable
