What kills me is that there wasn't a "Look, if I didn't get any life signs, I presume it is trying to kill me... which I now realize that it didn't pick you up so either you aren't alive or it is broken... oh no..."
I mean the joke that he might boarding populated in use ships is funny, but upon rewatching it and kyle responding, "well, all your lights were off and the scans picked up no signs of life," makes me think that Ian is a ghost. That, plus the fact that Ian is just blue lit, standing in a dark void, nonchalantly confronting the man who boarded his ship.
Ian could have just been sleeping, which would explain the lights being off, and the life scan might not be the most reliable considering you're trying to scan through both the vacuum of space and the hull of another ship
Bought Duskers recently and my first 3 drones were Ethan, Ian and Kyle. Seriously. I think Ethan got killed by space bees and Kyle got sucked out an airlock. Oops.
52nerfguy My first death was when I was using a mine, and I thought it was a security bot I was trying to kill. I failed to see that there were 2 infestation types aboard. I couldn't use motion cause the room I had the mine in was inconclusive. Said room was next to R2. So I opened the door, expecting to find a dead bot and 2-3 scrap. Instead I find one angry leaper next to the door. "Helloooo-" *Leaper jumps at the drone I was controlling and proceeds to kill the other 2.*
Watching this video again it is amazing how well you are able to set the tone of being a captain from some sort of control room with what you have to work with for this video. The lighting is incredibly important, but so is the costuming on Kyle. I think one of the final selling points are the two jugs of water in the background, it just makes it feel like this is sort of a working room and not a cozy office. And now I'm wondering if the jugs were intentional or not...
If you look closely at the beginning you can see that there are no infestation types, but as we already know Kyle used a motion sensor and found an alive person. Interesting little detail
this makes me think of hijacking frieghtiers in space engineers when useing a armored drone to just...flying into and..drill its power core to scrap so its guns shuts down...whaat.they always empty i swear no crew..just a corpse now and then
Pfffft. Small trade ships and small to medium civilian ships have blind spots which can be used to board the ship... by just spacewalking to it. Grind the computer, fix it, BAM. Now just de-power the turret(s) and navigate to your nearest deconstruction point. Or do what my dad did and create a gigantic, ship-deconstucting leviatan. That works.
To be fair, the story of Duskers is that there is no one on those ships. The character ship is actually hailing into the depth of space hoping to get a reply.
In my headcannon: You're not exploring empty abandoned structures in space. You're killing humans who live on the ship since they can't go anywhere else. The entire scavenger/mining industry implied by Duskers is comprised of you going to tiny space colonies, and evicting the impoverish defenseless people living on it. And I love it.
Me, as soon as he leaves: Ok, drones. Don't put that shit back, I know you already gathered everything so let's just go... now. now, now, now, now, now, now-
Indeed. because its very scary and difficult to actually visually verify the type of enemies due to how powerful most of them are. Sometimes you end up sending a harmless dog outside the airlock because they triggered your motion sensor. Yes, this game has dogs.
Haha I didn’t see this on the video where they showed all the places Doodleconn was. But check when he’s navigating the drones for the first time, it says Doodleconn.
Huh, I just noticed. You guys are the only TH-cam channel I've ever seen that don't have any dislikes. Anyway, done with the comment, done with the liking, now lets watch the video! EDIT: The keyboard shown is the exact same model I have!
Can someone please explain the end of the video? It seems something happened but I don't know the game. Did he steal the stuff anyway, or gotten blown up or something?
It was the next ship he was scavenging, he saw something on the motion detector. He considered checking if it was human, but decided to just trap it in a room.
Maybe do something about how it's all scripted, with the police chief character being a player who's been through that day before and knows exactly where to send which officers to make sure all the calls get resolved. So for example sending one unskilled cop to what seems like a massively dangerous situation because the player knows it's a false alarm, while sending a full squad of top cops to some minor call that the player knows is actually dangerous. And the cops themselves have no idea what's going on and are freaking out about their chief losing his mind and apparently sending that lone unskilled guy to his death.
So... why was Ian's ship floating aimlessly in space with no power?
Well who knows, maybe he needed rescuing, maybe he shut er down for the night, it’s his ship, he can shut down what he wants _shrug_
To conserve power, probably.

If anyone makes a space game with you as a charicter in it Kyle, your power will involve your mastery of the doors
which makes him the most powerful character
when you control the doors you control space itself
Well on my first playthrough the generator drone was named Kyle does that count
So in D&D he'd definitely have Thaumaturgy.

A fitting way for Kyle to go, misuse of doors.
Now there needs to be a game called "Accidental Pirate" where you play as a inept deep space salvage person
I kept expecting the bots to come in and accidentall kill both of them.
