Whenever I go on vacation, I find airports so overwhelming as an INFP. People have so many stories, and each of them have a different reason for traveling. I feel so diminished in the presence of so many strangers but somehow inspired by the various walks of life that I find myself writing about it or dwelling on the thought of it on the plane ride.

One thing that I kind of struggle with as an INFP, is to learn to appreciate myself. I always find myself putting myself down and making things hard for myself. Perhaps the only real way that I can really make myself appreciate myself is to constantly experience new things, but I continue to struggle to see the good.

HAHAHA, this is why the ocean scares me. They say we know more about space than we do about our oceans. That's messed up. Water is scary. Lol
But man it looks beautiful there! :) Can't wait to be able to go on a vacation again.

I don't know if this is true for all INFP's but I tend to feel more alive, or should I say more emotional, in the past or to a somewhat lesser extent when I imagine the future and it's possibilities. The present moment dulls in comparison.

Yep, I used to have a healthy hope about the future, no matter how bad things could get in my life I could always say one day I will be whole or content. This "pandemic" has destroyed any hope of a good future. I don't know about most INFP's but I also tend to be a realist! Peace!

I might disagree. Although it’s characteristic of me to project myself several years into the future, I always feel more grounded by my present self. I see my present self as the totality of all the other versions of me, and in this sense, by being who I am now, I am honoring my child self. I feel most in control when I accept that the present moment is all I will ever truly have. If you think about it, the past doesn’t exist anymore, and the future hasn’t existed yet. This idea keeps me at peace, and thus, I feel most responsible of my present self than any other version.

I just came back from vacation and you explained this perfectly! You are so good at explanations! How nice! Okinawa was my first trip out of the country!

I get that. Duno why I look at the ocean and wonder what'd be like to drown and how many stars I'd give it compared to like burning alive or something.
Your post reminds me that I really need a holiday, feels like I've been stuck in a routine for quiet awhile now and it's really draining me. Sometimes it's just nice to know in my mind that I have something to look forward too.

This is another new setup. Thank you for this as content as well! I hope to visit some place away from the city that I am in.

i love peaceful places and nature on vacation. in cities i like art museums and historical attractions, preferring to avoid crowds if possible. nature-wise i prefer mountains to the ocean - prob'ly due to recurring childhood dreams of drowning - but anywhere with a peaceful vibe is great. okinawa seems like it'd remind me a lot of my childhood home (hawaii). as a kid when at the beach i remember staring out at the horizon and yearning to know what lay beyond it. have never lost that sense of wanting to go places and discover things.

Ahh. So that's where you went! :) I just came back from a (free) Staycation myself - and my Te was also buzzing and thinking about work stuff too. Not that it was planned to be a total break anyway - but it was just a nice change of location that I could rest and work and then chill and do whatever I wanted. It was still good - what I needed! Welcome back! (How long was your vacation btw?)
