- War Thunder's submarine event is proof that they can definitely add submarines to the game and have them work perfectly. But is the event actually any good? Let's find out.

A tip. Subs in WT is very realistic. The faster you move the more noise it produces (you can noticed on the red circle on the mini map) means that before doing anything try to control your sub to have the least amount of movement as much as possible, before the attack. Once DDs noticed you, shuts the engine off and go deep dive.
Or just surface fully and rush directly south/north towards the cargo ships and pray they don't pay attention to you. (They don't a surprising amount of the time)
Not that realistic yet, but dunno. I dont play wt anymore.
However i doubt things like thermal layers, cavitation or proper engine vibrations as example exist yet.
Also the diving depth being bad. But i guess that can be blamed on combat testing as of now.
Also the artificially nerfed torp ranges.
I dont know either if gaijin taken diving depth into account when it comes to damage calculation for depth charges.
Well its ganna be painful to see them if it get more realistic than that I mean decoys and sht will make your sonar go red
I’m definitely not sure about this, but I think the depth charges automatically set for the depth you’re at when they drop. If you sit at
30-45m and quickly go down to 60 when they drop they might explode too soon and miss.
I might be wrong so feel free to fact check
I sit at 50 and they usually explode above. I think at most they go to 45
Subs could definitely do some damage at high BR naval battles. The battleships there have no way to take them out so people would have to take some destroyers in their lineups to take out subs
The only problem i see is that subs are too slow and by the time they are in position the match will be over,like bombers in ab

Looking at the video, there was 1 thing you didn't know that would help, when in range (2km) of a ship and you range it, it will give you a prediction line of where to shoot your torpedoes so you know where to aim, it could be disabled so in options, go to naval battle settings, and turn on 'automatic torpedo forestall.'
The depth charges drop out of the back of your boat so you should drop them a little bit later and the mortars/hedgehogs can be used as a just incase they turn

I hope they keep this around. It's really fun and incredibly entertaining as your constantly looking for destroyers and trying to make sure you take care of them and the cargo ships and maybr even the planes. And on the other side your constantly trying to keep the subs from passing you and getting to the ships and just getting in the way of enemy planes. Oh and dodging mines and dropping time delayed bombs on enemy subs.
If you are trying to cover distance, stick to the surface, subs move much slower underwater
I hope they add these guys. It's so cool to see dolphins being harassed by sharks.
This mode really infuriated me at first because I didn't understand it, as I'm not a naval player. Until I killed a dude with a mine. That was where I peaked
I would be alright if they let this event just go, I really like it especially with friends
I personally don't like them, because they're quite painful to drive around, but I like playing the Fletcher
Loved it, played every day. Hope they become a regular thing.

The time that you can be underwater is just way too limiting. You can probably be at 57 meters deep for 5 seconds before you have to go back up

@@chunheiso5806yeah but that was nuclear subs vs nuclear subs. This is U-boats vs destroyers with a designated target to defend/attack.

If I was you I whould learn the basics not just talk shit without knowing what is what 70% of information is wrong,but fun to see how people talk shit before they figure it out haha,at the end of the video you use torpedo instead bombs ,next time use bomb set on 2 sek fuse time and 4 bombs 4 subs done.
It’s not fun cause their actual max depth is 220 metres
Except you can die depth farther than 60 meters. I tried sticking st 60 meters and I died

@@croskerkyeah if you have any damage and go below 60 you just die. Shame since 60 is right when they give you the warning.
i really enjoy this mode cuz it gives out hide ad seek vibes you know and it took me a while to figure that q and e is use to dive and get back up after that when i'm out of top just being an annoying pic. of sh.t to the enemy with my aa
