Wow thank you for those kind words. Today I’ve been to do some more filming about the floods at Dunham Bridge and someone has actually tried to drive through the flood which I have the car on video 🤣 this should be out tomorrow 👍

Great job mate! Britain really needs a new generation of great engineering minds like Brunel to help tackle the major environmental challenges that we face.
To all my dear friends in Nottinghamshire and all of the UK that are so critically impacted by the floods. My prayers are being sent heavenward for your safety overall. My prayers of hope and peace fill your hearts abundantly. Most house building companies are required by government and local authorities to include a flood plain when applying for permission to build. All the fields and roads are covered with water, the new houses have been in no danger as the flood plain has worked. No politicians or local officials have received any monies. Brilliant Video Neil, we think you were very brave walking on the stone bridge, very informative but done with a lot of sensitivity on the subject without any drama that you get on the mainstream media. Stay safe
Well done, history being documented. Looks very much like Swanpool in Lincoln 100 years ago, where they are about to build hundreds of homes. This land is double pumped,i.e. pumped into one drain then pumped again into normal drain. Just imagine how deep the water will be not if but when this happens there.
So from the 1700's there hasn't been any plans on preventing this from happening again, and again, and again! Such great and considerate governments we have! Thank you for sharing, my heart goes out to all those affected by this flooding, my question is, how many more times will it have to flood for the government to actually get off their arses and do something about it?
Yes terrible, I feel so sorry for them, hopefully the government might take note of all the footage of all the videos of the devastating events and do something.
I'm from notts mate and lived in caythorpe (next to Gunthorpe/Lowdam). However, I moved away. Devastating again. I have a lot to do with local rugby and Newark, modern and casuals underwater.
@@neilrgreatestadventures it is but we’ve lived here all our lives and never seen the Trent come over on the Lincs side. The inland “drainage” flooding is the worst due to pumps failing, again. NAIDB and D of E issues.

Every flood is devastating to those involved and these happen every year becoming more of a problem as the FLOOD PLAINS disappear under housing developments so the same excess water has to find somewhere to go. Notice that question on your Insurance that now asks, are you nearer than X metres from a water course? That is a river, brook, drainage ditch, pond, lake etc.

hi neil great footage are you local to the area i am a delivery driver for tescos and this week as been a nightmare due to kelham gunthorpe and dunham bridge being closed
Market Rasen Lincs suffers from flooding that it once never did, primarily because of the Tesco supermarket and new housing estate in that area that was once grass fields that soaked up water, cement and tarmac, say no more!
The thing is, floods are not caused by too much water - there is no such thing, evaporation and precipitation are a constant. They are caused by too little drainage.
So much of England is a flood plain so expect more as the chronic overcrowding on this island increases without control and cheap housing is thrown up at minimum cost. I doubt if there is much money left in the national kitty to do anything about improving the drainage so expect more of it. In 1875 where that mark is probably they did not have much of anything downstairs let alone carpets, expensive electric utilities or chipboard furniture so not such a problem then. Just swept the mud out and carried on with life unseen and unnoticed unlike now.
Who is taking the money for maintaining rivers, dikes, would that be the Environmental Agency, Internal Drainage Board, the Council, the Central Government all taking their cut but not doing the service. Question, when was the last time you saw any of these cleaning out dikes and rivers ? There is no need for these floods had any of the Government quangos had done their job we already have and are paying for. Holland is not flooded, i wonder why.
To all the people who say why building on flood plains still because its what we have always done since building houses. It's history just repeating its self. This next to rivers trent.
As this area has historically flooded I have little sympathy for those who complain about being flooded, quite simply if you live on a floodplain expect to get flooded.

most rivers actually clear themselves during floods, the issue with dredging is the complete destruction of the river habitat specifically for fish and the extreme cost of not only dredging but also transporting the dredged sediment to landfill, A great example of why dredging does not work would be the mississippi river in the US where dredging occurs almost non stop everyday and has done for over 50 years (including flood defence walls and concrete channeling) but that river still very easily floods and they have the advantage of being able to dredge using barges which would not work in our rivers (too narrow and not deep enough) and evidence from those dredging operations shows a significant impact to all species using those stretches of the river from fish to plants to birds and it also causes significant sediment pollution during dredging which releases more sediment downstream, the easiest way to prevent property flooding is to simply not build on floodplains
