The reason the Ki Ko Ho is so powerful is because, instead of using ki like everyone else's attacks, it drains both his ki AND his life force. Tien is to weak to use that attack with ki alone so it slowly kills him to compensate for the energy he doesn't have. That's also why he could only hit Nappa with one Ki Ko Ho before dying.

In the original Dragon Ball, it was said the Tri-Beam had incredible power surpassing the Kamehameha. To the point that Goku wouldn’t survive the attack (who was around Tien’s level at the time). Compare this to numerous times people have survived the Kamehameha, when they were of similar power: - Vegeta (Kaioken x4 Kamehameha) - Frieza (Goku’s Kaioken x20 Kamehameha) - Piccolo (Kamehameha, 23rd WMAT) - Tien (22nd WMAT, however a technique was used) Etc If you expend more ki, you can increase the power - but this applies to all attacks. Saying the Kamehameha or Special Beam Cannon flat-out does more damage is false. I don’t think either of those techniques surpass the Kikoho in that regard. It also wouldn’t make sense for Tien to use the technique against Nappa if it were worse than the Kamehameha, or the Dodon Ray. Especially since the cost is so much higher.
For anyone interested (and its highly unlikely anyone will see this as its been many years since this video), in the dragon ball wiki it says that Tien power level around the Cell Saga was 800.000 Thats not even a million, not even Frieza Second Form, and yet, Tien is able to stop Semi-Perfect Cell (Who is stronger than Piccolo fusion of Nail and Kami, and that Piccolo was way stronger than a normal Super Sayan) So, the gap between Tien and Semi-Perfect Cell is gigantic, Cell could just punch Tien and probably kill him like that, and yet, the Kikoho is capable of keeping Cell in place and not letting him move, so just imagine if the Kikoho was used by someone way stronger (Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, etc...) The destructive power would be incredible (Like, imagine Super Sayan 2 Gohan using Kikoho against Perfect Cell how much damage would Cell take)
