Richard if the saw will pass pressure and vac get a new carb. I work on a lot of 201 tc's and find the accelerator pump leaks in a lot of the carburetors.
Richard, do you heat the crankcase halves and freeze the crank bearings for install or simply do interference cold fit? Guess it's similar procedure to predecessor MS200 bearing fit.
I look forward to a follow-up on this one. I worked on an M-Tronic MS261 recently, and it was doing something just like this. Confirmed pressure/vacuum, rebuilt carb, and replaced fuel solenoid just to get it to run reasonably well. It still has almost the same hesitation, though.
Oh I get that done for the day! If it passes pressure/vac test I guess my next thing would be do some cuts with it let it start tuning??Go from there??
hello richard As always very interesting video on oil 2 times and the ratio stihl 500 on my husqvarna 550 xp I tried the ratio 40/1 of oil husq and aspen 4 it works not well with the autotune it stops to deceleration despite having left 3 minutes in slow motion then thoroughly in a length of wood I came back to aspen 2 pre-mixed at 50/ 1 is all returned in order by cons my saws with screw settings 40/1 works well thank you for your reply soon
@@richardflagg3084 Thank you for the information I don’t have the success expected with pure alkilate gasoline and high-end 2 T oil in mixture by cons the pre-mixed aspen 2 works perfectly well aspen 2 they say also suitable for machines that have a different mixing ratio than 50/1 With the gasoline pump no problem with 40/1 Could you one day do a lubrication test with aspen 2? Thank you in advance for everything you do is nice I’m already in the night in France!
You probably have it running already with a new carb but have you looked at the clutch springs? I had a 241 that would bog down just trying to accelerate and never rev up. A new solenoid made it run enough to cut but you had to keep the rpms up. It was acting just like humpty dumpty there but would behave with the brake on no matter how long it idled. I installed new clutch springs and it ran perfect.
Great video. Thanks 👍
Super frustrating🤬 sometimes ya just gotta take a breather.
I appreciate your videos, always learning something new. I understand that frustration especially with some of those top handle saws.
Rich very interesting 😊😊😊

It's on the way. I've had this issue in the past too.
Hang in there
Nice video Rich. Thanks for sharing. You'll get it. I know you will. 👍
Damn skippy
Hey Richard whats the best way to get in touch with you about a chainsaw?

I enjoy you showing you look more like the rest of us where some days things just go awry. Keep up the awesome work Richard!!

you are not alone. rebuilt my 201tc and have a similar stall issue. got another one for dirt cheep so been putting off working on it.

I have faith in Mr Flagg, the saw will live on. ☝️
You got that right!

I have not had any issues with 40:1 in Autotune or MTronic. That is unusual about you're 550xp

Clutch springs were good. I've actually started putting MS200t clutch springs on the 201's. They are a little more robust and last longer.
@@richardflagg3084I’ll have to remember that.
