This... is not the translation. Since this came out, I've been working on translating it based on the previous Phyrexian Praetors. Important detail: Elesh Norn had numbers in it's text (Creatures you control get +2/+2, etc). In the Phyrexian version, it was just the numbers sideways. As far as I can tell, there are NO 0s in this card's text. What I've gotten so far, is the following: (NOTE: THIS IS NOT CONFIRMED EITHER! PHYREXIAN TEXT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO TRANSLATE BECAUSE IT ISN'T A REAL LANGUAGE! THIS IS MY BEST ATTEMPT SO FAR!) So I've had a few minutes to do comparisons. Here's what I've got for you: 1. First and foremost, as far as I can tell from the photos I've found, this Jin-Gitaxias does NOT have a keyword ability, unless it's a new one 2. There are six total words that both paragraphs have in common, four of which we definitely know the meaning of: "When/Whenever", "artifact", "spell" and "control". 3. There is one word that appears in both with what we have previously determined to be a inversion clause. So probably "you" vs "not you". 4. The other important detail is this clause is used as an individual word near the end of the second clause. Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant 5UU Legendary Creature - Phyrexian Praetor Whenever you cast an artifact, instant or sorcery spell, copy that spell. You may choose new targets for the copy. Whenever an opponent casts an artifact, instant or sorcery spell for the first time each turn, counter that spell. 5/5

Saw your post on magicspoiler too, if this is correct, then I'm definitely taking it off of my cedh list of cards. Not that it's bad, but it is a ton of investment for not a lot of gain. The fact that it includes artifacts too would hurt for the counter game plan as they can pitch a 0 rock to use spot removal. In cedh, it can copy your 0 rocks, tutors, removal, counter spells, and some combo pieces. Might consider it for my storm jhoira deck since it will be 1000 times easier to storm of and net positive on mana while also protecting my board.
@@MunchKING Original we thought it was just a cipher, but when translating became possible we got spellings like "thuta" where there should have been "get". As far as we can tell it is it's own text that also needs translated. So we have a layer of decoding, followed by a layer of deciphering. Which is why it's so convoluted to translate
They are definitely planning something big, I feel it will all overlap into a huge block in 2023. I would be willing to bet my life savings we see a New Phyrexia set in 2023.

Hey Mitch, I'm 90% sure that initial translation is close but not quite. It's more likely that instead of being 0 cost, it copies the spell. Additionally, it includes artifacts, which I can assume from the Maro Spoiler bit: “Whenever you cast an artifact, instant, or sorcery spell, copy that spell.”
@@Dragon_Fyre that seems way more reasonable. A 7 mana 5/5 that doesn't have flash, can be countered, can be discarded, sorta protects itself against some removal, but requires you to actually untap with it to really accrue value is probably alright.

This leak also claimed he'd be on Strixhaven - according to the Phyrexian translators, it seems he copies your instants, sorceries and artifacts and counters your opponents.
Right but the leaked image with the phyrexian text has the Neon Destiny set symbol so whether the translated text is right or not he's a 7 drop 5/5 coming to control decks near you soon.
As a person who writes, I actually enjoy it. The buildup of suspense is excellent. Especially because I hate Phyrexia with a burning passion. I can't wait to see what they are up to!
Oh wait, this isn’t just an Erayo’s Essence, it’s an Essence stapled onto a one time spell omniscience. Just cast this, you immediately cast Cyclonic Rift, Menemonic Deluge, Expropriate, Animotu’s Augury, or EVERY EXTRA TURN SPELL. While your opponents have to play 2 removal spells just to stand a slick of a chance.
Okay, but nobody believed the Japanese leaks of New Phyrexia back in the day for the same reason. I'm not holding my breath, but I also would not be surprised at all if this is legit. The power creep is real and them making each praetor cheaper and more powerful is a believable move for WotC
Its a bit extreme to send the praetors to look for stuff all over the multiverse instead of sleeper agents... but i guess they took the old saying "If you want a thing done well, do it yourself"

What's funny is, based on the translation, we already have just ad many good new praetors as the original cycle had. Norn and urabrask were the only good praetors from that cycle. I'm just happy jin and vorin finally got good cards
If this guy is real, I could imagine a deck full to the brim with just, ramp, counterspells, extra turn spells, and draw spells. You cast those expensive extra turn spells for free and use your mana to draw cards into your wincon if it isn't just hit your oppenents with your many turns. This'll probably be an amazing addition to Satoru decks as you just cheat him out early if you get your ramp.

oh cool, the first banned card to be debuted. There's a reason why Commander banned the Flip creature for countering the first spell cast each turn. Now you can have Gin Gitaxis on board with a Rule of Law effect so your opponents Cannot cast any INSTANT nor SORCERY spells while you can cast one of any spell type a turn. At least your opponents can still cast something.
Even if the text is wrongly translated, i hope we get a jin gitaxias in kamigawa, i wanted the preators so bad and had no money to get the og ones yet, but pulling this in a booster would be awesome.!
I see this as a cedh card... we've gotten so many mythics that I feel will be playable so far. With this, you can cheat into play with reanimate effects, play peer into the abyss for free, or take extra turns for free and loop them. If worded like this, you can also play cards from your graveyard for 0 if you have a commander like kess.
This might prove the Theroy of trees and phyrexians So far the only two planes they’ve showed up on in sets is with large legendary trees, and Valhiem we had Vorinclex taking something from the world tree, and now on kamigawa we have Jin-Gitaxias who’s probably after Boseiju if the tree is in his background. Perhaps by taking aspects of all of the tree’s they hope to create one themselves?
That just means you have as many extra turns as you have extra turn spell in hands. No reason not to dump one first thing each turn, since even if your opponents have counterspells available, Jin can just swat them down for free.

A few weeks maybe even over a month ago now I think there were like toy listings for a Jin Gitaxias as well and it may have been by the same company who leaked the angel figurine back before Kaldheim released the figurine ended up being Reidane.
Jin's presence on Kamigawa would explain all the advanced technology and makes sense based off of Vorinclex showing up in Kaldheim- I wonder what the praetor's grand plan is? Where are Urabrask, Norn and Sheoldred?
The leak isn't true, solely based on how wrong that leaker has been in the past. It's far more likely this Jin is one of MaRo's teaser points, especially based on the current work by several people matching words on this Jin to the other Praetors' phyrexian versions. So most likely first line is "Whenever you cast your first artifact, instant, or sorcery spell each turn, copy it. You may choose new targets for the copies." and most likely second line is "Whenever an opponent casts their first artifact, instant, or sorcery spell each turn, counter it." (the other option is the second ability copying your opponents' first those spells for you each turn, but that's less likely since the second ability is a full line shorter, so countering is more likely.)
This may have the potential to get banned if it’s the actual translation… not that I’m for increasing the size of the banlist necessarily, but man this thing is broken.
I like this SO much better than Jin’s first iteration. Messing with hand size was a headache. This feels less backbreaking, as creatures and artifacts and enchantments have a bit more power in their reputations than instants and sorceries. Screw arcane laboratory though, that’s… terrifying. We have a lot of “spells on a stick” in the format. It will make him much harder to remove, but definitely not impossible. Having Core Augur out is absolutely nuts. It can be a relatively wholesome deck, but if you decide otherwise in deck building it can also be super back breaking. I’m pretty pleased that this commander is this expensive. I’m excited to play some big big big and I mean BIG BIG instants and sorceries!
So, I see most of the people down here saying "Hey, isn't this literally a banned card from original Kamigawa, why would they do this?" and really, think about the power level that has been pushed in standard. Is it really that insane anymore?
This guy is a lot weaker than erayo, any storm list or deck that can draw cards could flip erayo, and erayo became an enchantment so there are less tools to interact with. Plus, erayo counters any spell, not just instant and sorceries. Erayo is still more worthy of a ban than this card. Despite that, I've made a comment talking about this in cedh, so yes, I do think this card is very strong.
It'll probably be worded slightly differently with the first line of text, I'm guessing; "The first instant or sorcery spell you cast each turn costs (0)."
Yeah this is bonkers my buddy and I was brainstorming this guys effect. We came up with whenever you cast an instant or sorcery, draw X cards, where X is equal to CMC. Whenever you opponent casts an instant or sorcery, they mill X, where is equal to cmc. I think this was better
For those saying Jin is not confirmed, We do have 2 pieces of art from him in Kamigawa, as well as he is seen in the story as well. The text may be dubious, but he is there
A lot of people seem to have been guessing that Jin-Gitaxis would appear on Kamigawa, myself included. I actually like the story implications of this starting with Vorinclex in Kaldheim. This why I love the new Vorinclex. Urabrask could use a stronger version though but he is the only one that needs that treatment.
Faced with having only the Phyrexian text BEFORE another language, Mitch scrambles to maintain his cover as a Phyrexian sleeper agent...unconvincingly.
The real effect is that it copies instant, sorcery or artifact spells and counters your opponent's instant, sorcery or artifact spells, once each turn.
I feel like Jin is the perfect Praetor to be in Kamigawa. Vorinclex was perfect for Kaldheim because of his more primitive bestial appearance but Jin always had that cybernetic/robotic look to him which I think is perfect for this upcoming set. I will say if that translation is correct then that will be a massive pain in the ass. He's basically an Omniscience for Instances and Sorceries and a Jace Emblem all while being on a creature that costs 5BB and not requiring a once per turn activation.
He is going in my Kira the Glass spinner deck. That 2nd ability is similar to hers. Opponents have to play 2 spells to get rid of one creature. I also run Arcane Laboratory. Fun😂.
I like to think the worst the picture quality the more validity it has. Plus it's blue and WotC doesn't play test any blue cards they create so 10/10 real card

I'm assuming it's "Jin-Gitaxias, Banished Praetor" or "Jin-Gitaxias, Kamigawa's Ruin" or some sort of title instead of just "Jin-Gitaxias". I think the phrase is Phyrexian for "Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant" but that's from a rough go at translating and I could be wrong. The translation looks kind of right but it's more likely to be: Whenever you cast an artifact, instant or sorcery spell, copy that spell. You may choose new targets for the copy. Wizards doe NOT like giving players access to free spells whenever they can help it, especially after the problems with Phyrexian Mana in the past and the problems with Artifact Lands that caused Affinity to break the game.
I don’t get it. It says you can play an instant or sorcery for free each turn. But you said you can play up to 4 free spells? You can’t play both an instant and a sorcery right? It’s on or the other?
No way this is accurate. If it is, it's going to be an insta-ban in Commander. The ability to extra turn for free once per turn off extra turn spells is ridiculously overpowered, even at the Commander's CMC
Most of these KND cards I've been able to believe, so it's too bad that my favorite Praetor; a creature from my favorite block, is probably fake. If he isn't, it's a good thing he's already in a plane that contains Moonfolk, because he'll be as banned as Erayo, on EDH, likely even before the set releases. Those effects are awesome, if he's yours, but they just sound like some young kid's ideal fantasy card they made. "Oh here, have a free I/S. You can use it, and still play more, or play others, building up, and then drop a spendy bomb. Your opponent? Come on, this is Blue; we brought you better than Erayo shenanigans!" Long live Phyrexia?
CRC is going to ban this immediately if that is the correct translation. If Erayo, Soratami Ascendant is banned while being much easier to deal with/ see coming, then this new Jin-Gitaxias doesn't stand a chance.
When I saw this card I thought it was written in the "Elvish" Script (I love LOTR but Most of what I know is from the movies.) that is found on the one ring.
If that translation is accurate, there's no way that's not going to be banned in most formats; it costs way too little mana for that much of an asymmetrical effect.
He only counters Sorcery/Instants, most of my decks are filled to the brim with permanents spells anyway. It's the free instant during each opponent turn that will hurts.

Ahhh yes getting infinite turns by just casting all of your extra turns to get extra combat and extra 0 instant and sorcery spells.

The leak isn't true, solely based on how wrong that leaker has been in the past.
It's far more likely this Jin is one of MaRo's teaser points, especially based on the current work by several people matching words on this Jin to the other Praetors' phyrexian versions.
So most likely first line is "Whenever you cast your first artifact, instant, or sorcery spell each turn, copy it. You may choose new targets for the copies."
and most likely second line is "Whenever an opponent casts their first artifact, instant, or sorcery spell each turn, counter it." (the other option is the second ability copying your opponents' first those spells for you each turn, but that's less likely since the second ability is a full line shorter, so countering is more likely.)
It copies your first instant, sorcery each turn, not reduced cost.
This may have the potential to get banned if it’s the actual translation… not that I’m for increasing the size of the banlist necessarily, but man this thing is broken.
Yeah it's basically reanimate or cast it win the game because of extra turn spells, you can cast one for free every turn
I like this SO much better than Jin’s first iteration. Messing with hand size was a headache. This feels less backbreaking, as creatures and artifacts and enchantments have a bit more power in their reputations than instants and sorceries. Screw arcane laboratory though, that’s… terrifying. We have a lot of “spells on a stick” in the format. It will make him much harder to remove, but definitely not impossible. Having Core Augur out is absolutely nuts. It can be a relatively wholesome deck, but if you decide otherwise in deck building it can also be super back breaking. I’m pretty pleased that this commander is this expensive. I’m excited to play some big big big and I mean BIG BIG instants and sorceries!
The entire Kamigawa leak has kept reminding me of when Frodo assumes Gollum escapes Barad-dur and Gandalf says "Escaped? Or set loose?"
So, I see most of the people down here saying "Hey, isn't this literally a banned card from original Kamigawa, why would they do this?" and really, think about the power level that has been pushed in standard. Is it really that insane anymore?
This guy is a lot weaker than erayo, any storm list or deck that can draw cards could flip erayo, and erayo became an enchantment so there are less tools to interact with. Plus, erayo counters any spell, not just instant and sorceries. Erayo is still more worthy of a ban than this card.
Despite that, I've made a comment talking about this in cedh, so yes, I do think this card is very strong.
It'll probably be worded slightly differently with the first line of text, I'm guessing; "The first instant or sorcery spell you cast each turn costs (0)."

Yeah this is bonkers my buddy and I was brainstorming this guys effect. We came up with whenever you cast an instant or sorcery, draw X cards, where X is equal to CMC. Whenever you opponent casts an instant or sorcery, they mill X, where is equal to cmc.

A lot of people seem to have been guessing that Jin-Gitaxis would appear on Kamigawa, myself included. I actually like the story implications of this starting with Vorinclex in Kaldheim. This why I love the new Vorinclex. Urabrask could use a stronger version though but he is the only one that needs that treatment.

The real effect is that it copies instant, sorcery or artifact spells and counters your opponent's instant, sorcery or artifact spells, once each turn.
I love all Praetors! Jin was always one of my top 3, I hope this one will be a little bit cheaper than Vorinclex.
I feel like Jin is the perfect Praetor to be in Kamigawa. Vorinclex was perfect for Kaldheim because of his more primitive bestial appearance but Jin always had that cybernetic/robotic look to him which I think is perfect for this upcoming set. I will say if that translation is correct then that will be a massive pain in the ass. He's basically an Omniscience for Instances and Sorceries and a Jace Emblem all while being on a creature that costs 5BB and not requiring a once per turn activation.
He is going in my Kira the Glass spinner deck. That 2nd ability is similar to hers. Opponents have to play 2 spells to get rid of one creature. I also run Arcane Laboratory. Fun😂.

I hope the whole cycle of praetors stays this baller. Vorinclex feels like a punch in the face, so does this.
I'm assuming it's "Jin-Gitaxias, Banished Praetor" or "Jin-Gitaxias, Kamigawa's Ruin" or some sort of title instead of just "Jin-Gitaxias". I think the phrase is Phyrexian for "Jin-Gitaxias, Progress Tyrant" but that's from a rough go at translating and I could be wrong. The translation looks kind of right but it's more likely to be: Whenever you cast an artifact, instant or sorcery spell, copy that spell. You may choose new targets for the copy. Whenever an opponent casts an artifact, instant or sorcery spell for the first time each turn, counter that spell." Wizards doe NOT like giving players access to free spells whenever they can help it, especially after the problems with Phyrexian Mana in the past and the problems with Artifact Lands that caused Affinity to break the game.
I don’t get it. It says you can play an instant or sorcery for free each turn. But you said you can play up to 4 free spells? You can’t play both an instant and a sorcery right? It’s on or the other?

No way this is accurate. If it is, it's going to be an insta-ban in Commander. The ability to extra turn for free once per turn off extra turn spells is ridiculously overpowered, even at the Commander's CMC

Holy Selma, this would be the most powerful commander ever printed in my opinion.
Most of these KND cards I've been able to believe, so it's too bad that my favorite Praetor; a creature from my favorite block, is probably fake. If he isn't, it's a good thing he's already in a plane that contains Moonfolk, because he'll be as banned as Erayo, on EDH, likely even before the set releases. Those effects are awesome, if he's yours, but they just sound like some young kid's ideal fantasy card they made. "Oh here, have a free I/S. You can use it, and still play more, or play others, building up, and then drop a spendy bomb. Your opponent? Come on, this is Blue; we brought you better than Erayo shenanigans!" Long live Phyrexia?
CRC is going to ban this immediately if that is the correct translation. If Erayo, Soratami Ascendant is banned while being much easier to deal with/ see coming, then this new Jin-Gitaxias doesn't stand a chance.

When I saw this card I thought it was written in the "Elvish" Script (I love LOTR but Most of what I know is from the movies.) that is found on the one ring.

If that translation is accurate, there's no way that's not going to be banned in most formats; it costs way too little mana for that much of an asymmetrical effect.

He only counters Sorcery/Instants, most of my decks are filled to the brim with permanents spells anyway. It's the free instant during each opponent turn that will hurts.
I'm no expert in Phyrexian but I think Praetor means fun police.
