Great video as always. One item I would like you to have covered is what happened to the original bunkers, i.e. did they get re-designed or did they simply deteriorate over time ? Thanks

Why do you keep on covering private courses that almost no-one other than members and their guests get to play?

We cover architecture…public and private. The recent videos have been Bandon Dunes (all public), Pasatiempo (offers public play everyday) and the last two major championship courses.
If you check out our website we have heaps of written articles about public golf. But as a whole we cover both public and private golf architecture.

Eric H you’re out of touch. The Fried Egg publishes the best golf content out there, especially if you’re into architecture. This video, like everything they produce, is incredibly fascinating. And they have a ton of content on public courses.

Because most of the best course architecture work was done in the pre-depression 1900's by the likes of MacKenzie, Ross, McDonald, Colt & Allison, Raynor, Tillinghast, Flynn, Park Jr., Langford, etc. Fortunately or unfortunately, the majority of the courses they designed and built at the time were for private clubs. Nearly all of the elite club courses have undergone some sort of restoration the past two decades, which has been great for the likes of Gil Hanse and other architects that specialize in turning back the hands of time. That said, many newer courses that have been built by the likes of Tom Doak, Coore and Crenshaw, David Kidd, Gil Hanse, Jim Urbina, Mike DeVries, Tom Fazio, etc. are public play courses and resorts, which Andy has given plenty of mention and coverage to. I suspect he'll have an expose of the Old Course uploaded to his channel this weekend or early next week ahead of the Open Championship, which is a public play course as well. So it all depends on when you tune in. Keep in mind, the last two major championships were played on historic private courses, which the Fried Egg did exposes on as well, as both had undergone major changes to them ahead of the respective championships they held.
