In four hours on GoFundMe already $4k donated! What a lovely thing you did for these folks. So glad Mark thought to call you and let the world know it was about to lose yet another historic landmark and the sweet lady who owns it! I'm retired, living on a fixed income. I made a small donation to this awesome cause. I have driven past the Bagdad Cafe but never entered the famous cafe. I would like to thank the Wonderhussy for bringing this effort to everyone's attention! This is why all of your supporters love you Sarah, I am also a desert rat, thank you so much! I hope and pray enough funding is received to save this important route 66 structure. I thank and wish Andrea the Very Best is saving this facility!
They need to build a huge outdoor area where they can have live bands, have BBQ and food trucks show up and get the motorcycle crowd there, build a big bathroom for lots of people. So a big shindig at least once a month.
You're supporting a noble cause there, Sarah Jane. Let's hope many new customers and supporters will get their kicks on Route 66 and revitalise the Bagdad Cafe.
I wish I could visit Bagdad Cafe....but this " little olde lady" ....is a local nomad in R.I. I travel to interesting and far far away locations vicariously through channels like Wonderhussey...(who will be one day in disguise as a little olde lady too).
Was an OTR Trucker for 5 years been watching your channel for a long time. Never Commented on a video. Your A Saint. You've done good by these poor people helping them raise funds so they can repair their cool historical joint. I hope someone will keep an eye on that sweet ol lady and make sure she's not being taken advantage of. So she can live out her 84th and 85th year in happiness watching her business blossom again like it used to. Much respect Wonder Hussy. 🤘
In Germany, the movie was called "Out of Rosenheim" and was a great success. It was directed by Percy Adlon. So funny and a little sad. Marianne Sägebrecht played the Bavarian woman who, through strange circumstances, ends up in the Bagdad cafe in the USA. Very good! Nice to see the location.
Bagdad Cafe is such a charming, sweet film, and I'm so glad Andrea and Mark are trying to save the place. I'm happy to support their fundraiser - thanks for giving them visibility!
Hi Sarah U.K sub here. Been a subscriber for about 3 years. Not sure why but this brought a tear. Lovely lady. Amazing that the chap stopped by while you were there. Upon checking the gofund me now has nineteen thousand one hundred and sixty eight dollars donated of the twenty thousand that they were asking for.❤ It's so awesome. What a wonderful gift you're giving these people in the people want to come your saving history
I first came through here in 1986,the end of the first day of my 3000 mile tour. A family invited me in for the night, and fed me. My name is Bicycle Bob and I approved this message and Newberry Springs is a very special and spiritual place to me. Luv ya,Wunderhussy.
@WonderhussyAdventuress I also had something else happen in Newberry Springs almost 30 years ago, I was finishing a 5 for 5.95 Arby's and a large dog came up to me, I gave her a sandwich, and she gently took it in her mouth and turned around and walked away with purpose. I wonder what happened to the sandwich to this day, I hope to have an answer, probably from God. My name is Bicycle Bob and I approved this message and your beauty.
Bagdad Cafe is one of my favorite movies and it is good to know that Andrea has been running it for over 30 years. I've also donated small amount of money and would like to visit there someday!

Sarah, I wonder if your friend Randy or maybe even Mike Z could help them out? If not maybe they could do a 'go fund me" to get things fixed. Bless you for making this video and bringing it to everyones attention to help this lady and her business.
Wow!! Been years since i was out that way, I still have my Military maps from that area. I've been so tied down lately with some unforeseen problems that I have fallen behind my U-Tube watching and responding. Hope to get a letter out soon, love ya much, Old Kenny ❤
Wife and I stopped by on a pre-retirement trip to CA in 2019. Spend the afternoon drinking very cold Silver Bullets, ate great buffalo burgers with fries and more cold Silver Bullets while welcoming the tour buss passengers. It was a blast! Thanks Miss Pruett for hosting. Hope that we can make the trip again and meet you . Closest I could get to Route 66 was $66.69🤣. Best of luck in the future. Take care.
Hey Wonderhussy! Nice to see you're not too far from my other neighborhood. (twenty min W of Kingman) I hope you get a chance to explore the Mt. Nutt Wilderness on your way west on Route 66. From downtown Kingman, on Andy Devine (Rte66), turn left on Historic Route 66, follow it passed where it intersects with I40, then turn left on Oatman Hwy (Rte66). Look for a sign that says "Rest Stop" and the commode, lol, veer right on Navajo Dr, go 1 mile. Turn right on Garnet and take any roads to the left that go up into the foothills. Trail heads are everywhere. Our future UAP observatory site is at the end of Zentiff. It was great meeting you and your awesome sister Alija at the Inyo Fire event! The mood and music lights I promised are back in production, and will ship ASAP. Here's some gas money in the meantime. Best, Wayne
I wouldn't send anyone to garnet unless they have a jeep. I live in golden valley and went through there once. its too bad the county doesent fix that road fromm 66 to gv
@@stephendfelde I drive my pickup through there all the time, I have family that lives there, and plenty of people who live in the area drive sedans. However, you are correct in pointing out that there can be issues right after a major rain event. In that case the county is usually quick to fix any damage to the roads I mentioned, usually within a day. It's possible you had a case of bad timing when you visited. But yeah, if there was more than a half an inch, I would avoid the area for a few days. But if you've seen enough WH videos, the roads she regularly encounters are far worse than anything that area has to offer, even on a bad day. Plus, I would never put Sarah or anyone else in danger, for goodness sakes!
Almost 17000 bucks. I would bet she is astounded by the outpouring of well wishes and a few bucks too. If we/they pull this all together, maybe a go fund me wall of honor could find a place somewhere on the property.
Love this video. I'm not French, but Bagdad Cafe is One of my all time favorite movies. I bought it in the 1980s and watch it over and over again periodically.. Also visited the Bagdad Cafe a couple years ago on my way home from Death Valley - had breakfast; chatted with the cook; bought a hat; and took a photo of the yellow coffee thermos featured in the movie. So much fun. Good luck to Andrea.
Thanks for bringing everybody up to date on the Bagdad Cafe Huell Howser did one many years ago as well the German accent isn't bad thanks for the video Wonder hussy
Watched your video on the Bagdad Cafe this morning. Watched the "Bagdad Cafe" movie this afternoon. Made GoFundMe donation to repair the cafe building this evening. Thanks Wonderhussy!
Thank you so much for doing this! Andre is such a special person. I hope someday you’ll go back to spend time to hear her story. I used to lives across the street on Nopal Lane and would go to the cafe and sit and listen to her stories for hours. She also owns the historic Echo Ranch which is a very special gem but completely run down old homestead at the base of the Newberry mountains. Thank you for doing this video and helping her raise the money to fix the cafe. I love you so much 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
I lived in Newberry as a kid. Started off living in the motel that was next to the Sidewinder Cafe, both of which catered to the route 66 travelers before the interstate was put in. That Cafe went on to be the Baghdad cafe after the movie, of which quite a bit of it was shot in the same run down Motel. Then my family moved out into a piece of property very near where these homes were, and we lived out there for a year before we got electricity. We had horses and pasture land. It was an adventure, but just the same, when I turned 18 I left immediately. After having lived in the desert, some people say you carry a piece of it around in your heart, but I don't believe that's true. Instead it keeps a piece of you there. If you ever get to go out to the Ord Mountains south of Newberry, some of the most amazing petroglyphs I've ever seen in my life still exist out there. Thank you for taking me back to this area. A lot of memories for sure.
Huell would be very proud you are helping that cafe, he loved the place , like all of us. Sad Route 66 has been ignored, a significant historical site. Going to check it out someday, when I can visit you and the dessert. Keep Rocking and Racing 💜

Ha! The Bagdad Cafe came up in conversation today. We were talking about places to eat or stop for cheaper fuel when east of Barstow. Good to know its still there. Saw the movie overseas. It is a Classic, perfectly cast, beautifully told story.
The movie made the inpact on me, to start a big interest in Mojave desert and by that i came to know your chanel. Hope to come there some day and see the great area myself. Thank you for what you did Sara to help restore the cafe and to visit that part of Mojave❤
The Baghdad Cafe is certainly of historical value and is worth preserving for visitors SarahJane. Never seen the movie myself, but sounds like it meant alot to many folk, especially the french. Glad you got the "Go Fund" a kick start for Owner Andre Pruitt and helper Mark.Nice donation from a passerby. I'm sure they will get enough money for the roofs wet rot and other things that need attending to.🎯👊👍☝👌🙂😎
I think the state of California should help out this historical site for future travelers. It was part of Gov Newsom's draconian lock downs that caused many people to suffer and their small businesses to shutter.
Congrats on the money donated. I loved that movie. It was on rotation on the Sundance or the Independent Film Channel in the 2000s. I think about it each and every time i drive to or back from Vegas from Long Beach Ca. There is a tiny dilapidated A-frame building on the side of I-15 that always reminds me of Baghdad Cafe. Sorry, more than the roof needs repair. If the money is there it should be remodeled in the way it looked in the film and sorry politely removed the memorability. If at all possible billboards near I-40 pr even I-15 should be placed. If I knew where it was id stop. In the film part of the charm was how warm and invited the Baghdad Cafe was. Yeah it was a sweet little film. Thanks Ms Hussy
Holy crap people , don't let another place get bulldozed like the old motel next door. With a great amount in a GFM they can get the roof fixed AND the kitchen up and running again. Andrea and WH are both angels.
BRAVO WH! That was a GREAT video. I'm so glad you went there and brought awareness to their business. I feel terrible that I never stopped there on my m,any travels on the I40, whizzing past The Cafe on my way to see my folks in Lake Havasu in the 90's. I feel for the owner and I'll do my best to help. God Bless You.
Yes, I remember this movie. Kind of a sweet and quirky kind of story. They aired it on HBO and Cinemax for a period of time. Didn't know this place actually existed. Thanks for sharing.
Bagdad Cafe is one of my favorite movies, and one of the main characters lived in the airstream! It was pretty big here - I saw it in one of those art movie theaters in San Diego back in the 90's.
I plan to drive the entire length of Rt 66 nx year in my 1966 Chevy Corvair to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the mother road. I sure hope Andrea and the cafe are still there. I will make a nice donation to help out
interestingly, back in 1975 just after I graduated college, I did just that in an ermine white 180 hp '65 turbo corsa convertible which I had inherited from my dad who purchased it new from Schonlaw Chevrolet in Hollywood. I'll also be taking a road trip with a good friend to pay Andrea a visit, albeit this time on our motorcycles.
Sarah you really need to see this movie! It's so uniquely charming! I saw it when it was first released. I was really little but always remembered it, then within the last 10 or so years watched it again and again and love it even more. They even made a TV program based off the movie starring Whoopi Goldberg and Jean Stapleton.
That’s absolutely awesome Sarah Jane W.H huge respect for you👌🏻and 🫶all you do!~Miss Andrea you are a sweetheart. I hope you’re able to get back up and running strong🍔🥧🇨🇦
I personally I work with a guy who buys heavy duty vinyl tarps that were billboards. Very cost effective reuse of thick traps. You can baton them down.
Such a sweet story. I travel in the southwest so have driven some of the old Route 66. Hope to drive from the southern to the northern end someday. Hope they can get the roof properly repaired.
Just dropped a donation @ the Bagdad Café . . . great job, Sarah . . . and don't forget about the short-lived CBS sitcom of the same name, with Jean Stapleton and Whoopi Goldberg.
I passed by the Bagdad Cafe in November 2023 during my 8 week tour of Route 66 (East West then West East). I'm so glad that you introduced the 'Go Fund Me' link. Looking to forward revisiting the Bagdad Cafe in 2026 & eat some food there!

With a great amount in a GFM they
can get the roof fixed AND the kitchen up and running again.
Waiting with anticipation for the wonderhussey videos:-)
I made a small donation, I hope to do Route 66 someday, and I would love to stop by. Good luck!
Happy to contribute!
❤🔆💙🔆💜
The movie was great.
Wonderhussy spreading the word. More needs to be done to save these icons of travel. Thanks Sarah. Stay well. 😎
One of the best movies. Ever. Baghdad Cafe. Donation worthy for sure!!!!
That building is well and truly stuffed
Great video Sarah! Another good place for me to stop on my way to Death Valley, Tecopa, etc. very soon.
Yes, I remember this movie. Kind of a sweet and quirky kind of story. They aired it on HBO and Cinemax for a period of time. Didn't know this place actually existed. Thanks for sharing.
I used to work at the tow yard across the street in the 90's.
It’s no Wonder why all of us love Wonderhussy. What a wonderful caring person!! ❤️❤️❤️
I loved the film, wonderful eccentric characters.
You're a welcome site where ever you go. ❤
Absolutely loved the movie Baghdad Cafe
Bagdad Cafe is one of my favorite movies, and one of the main characters lived in the airstream! It was pretty big here - I saw it in one of those art movie theaters in San Diego back in the 90's.
Hope they get all the help they need 🙏 ❤
Bagdad Cafe is a fantastic movie. Sad to see that place falling into such disrepair.
- with Jack Palance as retired Showbiz lush.
Happy to donate to this worthy cause! God bless them and you for helping them out.
That’s absolutely awesome Sarah Jane W.H huge respect for you👌🏻and 🫶all you do!~Miss Andrea you are a sweetheart. I hope you’re able to get back up and running strong🍔🥧🇨🇦
I read the book. Beautiful story.
Sarah, you are under informed.
What made the cafe point special was the lady from Bavaria, not the movie.
Hi Sarah, Spider here, Saw that movie a few times , loved it it was so strange, but that was the appeal.Glad your doing another video on it.
That is one of my favourite films, thanks for the video.
One of my all-time favorite movies! ❤
So magical 🎉
Great video. Hope they get help with the roof. Safe travels.
They can tarp that roof until they can get it fixed, winds are crazy out that way so secure it well!
Need muscle they are too old to be climbing on a roof.
Getting someone to do for the right thing to do now days is a miracle.
God bless you Sarah Jane! ❤
If anybody can help them you can. Your subscribers are awesome. Good luck.
I remember watching Huell Howser visit this place on his show.
I'm always cheered up when you drop a new vid, but this is the most feel-good vid ever! Thanks for all you do to make our days better,. Sarah Jane!
