Thanks! One thing I would add is make sure your order is complete. I ordered the tall 4 way after the splitter and the shipping stings a little. At this point I'm interested in the other two box wedges. I will probably just drive up and pick them up, if I can work it out. Thanks for watching
@@TheDriftlessHomestead do you think the 6 way with tall 4 way is a good mix? Do you prefer the tall 4 way vs regular 4 way? I do like idea of sometimes just splitting in 2
@@adventurerhoades yes, I think the tall 4 way is better. The wings drop all the way down to the I beam. I will put out a video with measurements. The main reason I purchased the tall 4 way was to do big nasty crotch wood with the Xtra tall single. I also use it to make smaller bundle wood.
I had my 4-way machined at the local machine shop so the angle remains the same thruout the cutting edge. Makes a helluva difference in speed and reduction of what I call wood-boogers. Was pricey though. The 6-way is in getting done now. I'm thinking Andrew could find a happier medium in sharpness but I understand his dilemma.
Good morning Harry. I look forward to see how the sharpening effects the splitters ability. The trailer with attached boom winch will be an asset to your wood processing operation. Keep cool during these warm days.
I am an eastonmade fan. Unfortunately my interactions with one of the competitors has not been very good. When I get ready to buy, expect to hear from me!
I enjoyed meeting you as well. I'm a eastonmade fan as well. When you meet the machine in person it's very impressive. Some things just don't show up on video.
My long term plans would be to use that as fuel for a Kiln. We will see how that works out. I got way behind on stuff in my woodyard and will have to burn some.
Only issue with sharpening may be on the box wedge as you hoist it off. In order to hoist off the box wedge I use a heavy duty strap that wraps around the outer edges of the wedge. That may cut the strap through time and then you’ll have a dangerous situation for sure. Can’t wait to see your next video. I may sharpen my blades too, but just nervous about the hazard potential.
Oh I hear you. I'm thinking of coming up with something made of metal. I absolutely love the box wedge and rarely take it out. But going forward I'm going to separate my rounds to be wedge specific. I'm also going to do more with the tall 4 way to get better bundles.
When you grind on the side of the bevel you change the angle of the bevel, which is not good. It would take too much grinding to grind on the side of the bevel without changing the angle of the bevel. I would grind exclusively on the non-bevel side which would require very little grinding to make and maintain an edge. I would think that a double bevel would be better anyway, to better center the edge in the split of the wood.
I have a 12-22 arriving spring 23. Getting ideas on wedge. Nice share hit red button

Hello Harry, just catching up videos, Box wedges are nice, Saw Ohio wood burners on his Japa 405 beast, Take Care and Stay Safe 🚜🪵👍🏼🇺🇸
Love the box wedges. I really like what ohio wood burner has going on with that Japa. Stay safe.
I too have sharpened my wedge. Only butter knife sharp though so the edge doesn't roll.
I plan on going sharper over time. I didn't want to heat up the metal too much.

I think just getting the word out is a start.
Thanks for watching,

Thanks for watching.
Interesting.. Kindling is important too!
Yes, but it should also stress the machine less.

Thanks! It will definitely help since I really don't have a woods tractor.
Interested to see how you like that wedge now that it is sharp. Good job Harry👍👍
It's much faster going through the wood. Thanks for watching Jeremiah.

@@EastonmadeWoodSplitters I will get in touch with you very soon. Thanks for the comment!
Darren, I will be moving the splitter down to Kenosha in August to do some work. Perhaps you would like to try it out on one of your trips?
I got 2 mushrooms yesterday from my logs you gave me. Communication issues with the steps... They didn't get dropped after soaking but still got 2
I usually soak for 24 hours and slam them on a concrete block stack and wait 7 to 10 days. I have so many people asking for them after trying them.
Sharpening makes sense, can’t wait to hear/see results . Also want to hear about the new Crain. Be safe.
I'm sure you will get a demo sooner than later.
My uncle would always keep a razor sharp edge on his wood splitters.
It really does make a big difference.
Very interesting
Kindling isn't waste it's a higher priced product you get for free. The little stuff bagged up will be a premium product just for cleaning up.

I think you have a point. The single wedge on the Axis has a double bevel.
